I gushed about Raphael Sbarge's voice acting in the chat, but just want to say it again here. He does so well, I love the emotion and weight he puts into Kaidan's lines during the first Starboard Observation scene. Even the small things, like the heavy sighs, the filler noises like "uh", the pauses, it all works so perfectly. I've likely listened to Kaidan's lines nearly twenty times, and I never get tired of them.
Absolutely loved the hundred emotions shown on your face as the music kicks in and Grunt says he will buy you time. Great BioWare on the voice acting, the cgi, and the music. From here on in, the music kicks it up at moments like that. Can’t wait to see your facial reactions to a few more scenes to come….
@@DocDarkness Are you talking about the Breeder? You do know that she betrays you later in game, right? She kills the scientists working aside her, thus lowering your EMS score and leaves the facility with her children. Her whereabouts are unknown: at best, she doesn’t help like she promised and at worst she joins the Reapers forces (which is unlikely, I know) or she’s taken against her will by the Reaper forces again. In any cases, she does NOT keep her end of the bargain.

(although despite the hate on Kaiden that i've seen, i do get why you'd go for him. he basically just a "good" guy. which may seem kinda "boring", but he always seemed like a character that tries to do the right thing and doesn't compromise his integrity. i can respect that. yeah he kinda snubbed yah when you met again in ME2, but he didn't know all the circumstances involved at that time.)
If you save the queen, her and her children help build the catalyst. Otherwise, you get Arlack company war asset. If Grunt wasnt 100% in terms of mission and loyalty, he wouldnt have survived that mission. Youdve just left without him.
46:55: Because the game seems to keep challenging this relationship, I heard this and expected it to launch into a new mission to rescue the mom who would then live aboard the Normandy and forever block the two of you.
An incredible episode from start to finish. I love that ME3 is so packed with content that it makes it hard to do two missions an episode... I never want this journey to end 😭 And if you're not joining us on Monday/Thursday live premiere days, you're missing out on so much fun!!
Oh also, and I don't think this is spoiling at this point, but if you saved the Rachni in ME1, save them in 3, then they become a major war asset. Ooooh well. 😁🤷
I can't be bothered to look back to see what you missed, but there's an epic side mission that starts in ME1 and should have culminated in the Holding Docks that didn't trigger.

Dang missed the preview cause RL stuff......sad. I actually forgot about that booty check that Shep does after welcoming Kaiden to the Normandy...My word, Bioware! Loved your reaction btw heeheehee. So nice you finally get your boy back close at hand! Shame on Bioware scaring us all to death thinking our son, Grunt died. They love to twist the knife those buggers. I loved how furious you got at them hahahaha. That manufactured Rachni at the end was very interesting. Never seen that before as I always save the Queen in ME1. I am really unsure if I would have trusted something they "constructed" from bits and pieces of fallen Rachni either. I suspect it was mostly machine given the Reapers history. Even though they gave you renegade points, given its reaction to not being let loose, I think you took the most logical route! It is a much easier decision when you save the Queen as then it is obvious it is really her locked up in the cave. Keep being you, your videos are a joy to watch!

@basicwitgirl when i originally played ME3 for the first rime, I just lost the Primarks son. I did that mission and the Arlak mission before Priority: Tuchanka. So I was bawling when I saw Grunt 'die' i mean... its my tank boy. I felt responsible. My choices made things worse, too. I saved the Rachni queen in ME1 and did so again in ME3. Grunt's whole platoon was lost, and then i lose him?! It broke me. THEN i got so mad at Bioware bc then I see Grunt survived, so your reaction is EXACTLY how I reacted on my 1st playthrough.
If you hadn't committed the second Rachnii genocide, you would have encountered the queen you freed in 1 (and who sent a messenger saying hello and thank you in 2). If you then elect in 3 not to commit the THIRD great Rachnii genocide (and the SECOND one to see you not just participate in, personally, Miss "How Did I Get +5 Renegade?!", but essentially conduct solo) instead of leaving them, they would have helped build the Crucible as a war asset. Thankfully, your Space Hamster got infected and becomes another queen, and thus Bioware hands you your FINAL FINAL chance to redeem yourself, you butcher.
when I first played through ME3 I hadn't played ME1, so my response to the rachni here was the same. But when I had a chance to play ME1 I saved the queen and that outcome in 3 turned out to be a much more welcomed surprise. There are some good moments coming though, I know you're going to love it.
Bioware playing with our feelings with that goodbye type dialog and the sad piano music making it look like Grunt's last stand. I'm glad your best son survived. What a effing roller-coaster of feelings. Just the music makes my eyes a little wet. The music of ME is something else I tell you... Not the shot of Basique staring at Kaidan's ass lmao. First time seeing that. Maybe y'all are the same. We haven't seen you two in the same room together in game, soooooo. Congrats on getting Kaidan back. The slow burn starts to pick up FINALLY 👏👏
I love how they try and guilt trip you about the Rachni if you killed the queen, like "oh here's a chance to save them", and it's totally the wrong move. Glad you didn't fall for that trap. Though to be fair, saving here was in the "renegade" spot on the wheel here. If you has spared the queen in ME1, saving her here would be in the "paragon" spot. If you saved the queen in the first game, then saving her here is the best move, war asset wise. But, if you killed her in ME1 then she is a fake in this game, made by the reapers. She totally betrays you and loses you a ton of war assets in addition to the war assets you sacrifice from Grunt's team to save her in the first place.
If memory serves, first playthrough I ended up doing that mission post-coup as well. Fresh off Mordin and Thane. I'd had to take a few days to recover enough that I could even touch the game again... and Bioware pulls that on me. I do distinctly remember the tears starting as soon as the piano kicked in, and swearing that I would rage quit if they killed off my tank baby like that. As other commenters have mentioned, he will not come out if you didn't do his loyalty mission in ME2. Luckily, I absolutely refused to even chance losing anyone in the suicide mission, so instead of throwing my disc in the garbage, I just laugh sobbed at him asking for snackies after scaring the bejeezus out of me.

Here are the official/unofficial Kaiden counts for Episode 10: Kaiden: 36 Boyfriend: 9 Babe: 8 Very much a Kaiden-medium to heavy Episode, especially when you bring him along. And yes...flashbacks do count in the count bc they are in the episode. On to the next!! Glad to have Basique back.
I don't mean for this to be quite as mean as it's going to sound... but seeing her slam into the brick wall of Kaiden's deep introspective and non romantic stoicism after all the syrupy, over the top gushing about him was so satisfying. And then he mentions how bang'n EDI looks.😂
It's a little unintuitive, but the argument between C-SEC and the cafe owner is better resolved by siding with the cafe owner. the C-SEC guard is arguing for surveillance of random civilians, the least likely people to be Cerberus moles. Supporting the C-SEC officer in that conversation actually makes C-SEC overlook all the Cerberus moles in their own ranks and lowers the Citadel Defense war asset.
@@basicwitgirl Well, I won't give it away at this point. Next time you decide to play through ME1, try saving her! It might give you a different perspective on the rachni. 😊 That said, I've never seen anyone save or kill the "fake" rachni queen, so it's the first time I've her heard dialogue. I'd say it was probably better that you decided to kill her!
All the emotions you went through with Grunt in the end is exactly what happened to me. I think he does die if you don’t do his loyalty mission but I’m a completionist so I’ve never gotten that myself. Fun fact for your Basic: FemShep only stares at Kaidan’s ass if you are loyal to him in ME2. That’s your reward for the game long celibacy 🤣
So apparently, if you didn't complete his loyalty in ME2 then Grunt WOULD HAVE died in that last scene. Yep. Mass Effect really likes to pull those heart strings.

But look out for Comm. Specialist Traynor, she will try to steal you from Kaiden. @1:42:47, Just so you know, if you had spared the Rachni Queens' life in Mass Effect 1, you would have had a whole different experience right here. @1:48:34, Ha Ha Ha !! You just got Mass Effected baby !!! Thank you Commander, the galaxy is a little safer today because of the efforts put forth by you and your Normandy crew. That includes your sacrifices.
When BioWare does it right....they certainly do it right and make it hit you in the feels. And all these games have absolutely emotional hits....and some of the best and worst are yet to come
I'll start by saying "yes, you were right not to trust her" BUT in the Breeder's defeence, I too would have wanted Shepard's death if the Commande had decided to leave me behind to die 🤣 I wanted to tell you how refreshing it is to see someone gushing over Kaidan so much. You're so funny and it's so cute to see you react as if it was your 1st crush. There are so few of us who appreciate our sweet boy, he deserves all the attention and support. And yes, I was so "mad" at BioWare after Grunt's mission. They made me think that my boy was dying... when the piano notes hit and the scene slowed down, I was like "Noooo, nooooo! Not Grunt! How dare you?", I was on the verge of tears and then I did cry tears of joy when my boy came out of the cave. Then I burst out laughing because, of cours, he was angry. I loved it!! So yeah, I was shaking my fist at BioWare but I was also praising them because very few games made me feel emtions that strongly and if that is not proof of a good scene, I don't know what is... Thanks again for a great video
KAIDAN IS BACK!! 🎉🎉 In the stream I was trying to silently compel past Basic to hold off on all the Citadel side quests and just go back to the Normandy! 😂 The conversation Kaidan and Shepard have at the Normandy dock is the main reason I always let Kaidan take the shot at Udina. It changes from him kinda accusing Shep to him doubting that he did the best/right thing and Shep reassures him that he absolutely acted with integrity and Udina gave him no choice. It's nice friendship moment even if they're not in a relationship. And then the ass check! FemShep only looks if she romanced Kaidan in 1 and no one in 2 so not a lot of people see it. 😏 I'm also really glad you went to talk to Kaidan first despite everyone else on the Normandy doing their best to get your attention! The cutscene about his dad being MIA only plays if you go see him immediately. No reason given why that is, and no hints that's the case. I missed it my first playthrough and was highly annoyed when I realized. Such a nice moment that's hard to get for no reason! And the renegade interrupt just has Shep interrupting Kaidan and telling him to use his feelings as ammo against the reapers. Which, ok sure, but the man is pouring his heart out right now! How rude to interrupt, Shepard! 😂 I've always done the rachini mission before getting the Virmire survivor back so that was new to me! After the beginning, Kaidan was pretty chatty which was nice! I'm so excited for the rest of the playthrough!
Hahaha I wonder how many of y'all were urging past basic to run straight to that dock bay!!😂how weird though that you only get that scene chatting about his dad if you go right away!! As sad as that conva was, I loved the glimpse into what he's also dealing with! This truly was the episode of lost love and spouses😭
What would have happened if you accidentally hit the “it’s not a good idea “ prompt when Kaiden asked to join the Normandy? I think you might have lost the ability to finish some of ghe olderr Citadel side quests, some of them should have been done before returning after curing the genophage. Also you still have Priority Eden Prime. Anyway awesome play through can’t wait for the next video.
I've never romanced Kaidan. But the scene in the airlock with Shepard watching his ass makes me wish I'd tried it once. No telling how many things like that there are after he slinks back on the Normandy.

Kaidan's voice is the main reason I chose him to be the LI in my first playthrough 😂. Raphael Sbarge is phenomenal.

I love how they try and guilt trip you about the Rachni if you killed the queen, like "oh here's a chance to save them", and it's totally the wrong move. Glad you didn't fall for that trap. Though to be fair, saving here was in the "renegade" spot on the wheel here. If you has spared the queen in ME1, saving her here would be in the "paragon" spot.
If you saved the queen in the first game, then saving her here is the best move, war asset wise. But, if you killed her in ME1 then she is a fake in this game, made by the reapers. She totally betrays you and loses you a ton of war assets in addition to the war assets you sacrifice from Grunt's team to save her in the first place.
If memory serves, first playthrough I ended up doing that mission post-coup as well. Fresh off Mordin and Thane. I'd had to take a few days to recover enough that I could even touch the game again... and Bioware pulls that on me.
I do distinctly remember the tears starting as soon as the piano kicked in, and swearing that I would rage quit if they killed off my tank baby like that.
As other commenters have mentioned, he will not come out if you didn't do his loyalty mission in ME2. Luckily, I absolutely refused to even chance losing anyone in the suicide mission, so instead of throwing my disc in the garbage, I just laugh sobbed at him asking for snackies after scaring the bejeezus out of me.
Salarians are genius, for a reason.

It's a little unintuitive, but the argument between C-SEC and the cafe owner is better resolved by siding with the cafe owner. the C-SEC guard is arguing for surveillance of random civilians, the least likely people to be Cerberus moles. Supporting the C-SEC officer in that conversation actually makes C-SEC overlook all the Cerberus moles in their own ranks and lowers the Citadel Defense war asset.

All the emotions you went through with Grunt in the end is exactly what happened to me. I think he does die if you don’t do his loyalty mission but I’m a completionist so I’ve never gotten that myself.
Fun fact for your Basic: FemShep only stares at Kaidan’s ass if you are loyal to him in ME2. That’s your reward for the game long celibacy 🤣

I wanted to tell you how refreshing it is to see someone gushing over Kaidan so much. You're so funny and it's so cute to see you react as if it was your 1st crush. There are so few of us who appreciate our sweet boy, he deserves all the attention and support.
And yes, I was so "mad" at BioWare after Grunt's mission. They made me think that my boy was dying... when the piano notes hit and the scene slowed down, I was like "Noooo, nooooo! Not Grunt! How dare you?", I was on the verge of tears and then I did cry tears of joy when my boy came out of the cave. Then I burst out laughing because, of cours, he was angry. I loved it!!
So yeah, I was shaking my fist at BioWare but I was also praising them because very few games made me feel emtions that strongly and if that is not proof of a good scene, I don't know what is...

In the stream I was trying to silently compel past Basic to hold off on all the Citadel side quests and just go back to the Normandy! 😂
The conversation Kaidan and Shepard have at the Normandy dock is the main reason I always let Kaidan take the shot at Udina. It changes from him kinda accusing Shep to him doubting that he did the best/right thing and Shep reassures him that he absolutely acted with integrity and Udina gave him no choice. It's nice friendship moment even if they're not in a relationship. And then the ass check! FemShep only looks if she romanced Kaidan in 1 and no one in 2 so not a lot of people see it. 😏
I'm also really glad you went to talk to Kaidan first despite everyone else on the Normandy doing their best to get your attention! The cutscene about his dad being MIA only plays if you go see him immediately. No reason given why that is, and no hints that's the case. I missed it my first playthrough and was highly annoyed when I realized. Such a nice moment that's hard to get for no reason! And the renegade interrupt just has Shep interrupting Kaidan and telling him to use his feelings as ammo against the reapers. Which, ok sure, but the man is pouring his heart out right now! How rude to interrupt, Shepard! 😂
I've always done the rachini mission before getting the Virmire survivor back so that was new to me! After the beginning, Kaidan was pretty chatty which was nice! I'm so excited for the rest of the playthrough!

What would have happened if you accidentally hit the “it’s not a good idea “ prompt when Kaiden asked to join the Normandy? I think you might have lost the ability to finish some of ghe olderr Citadel side quests, some of them should have been done before returning after curing the genophage. Also you still have Priority Eden Prime. Anyway awesome play through can’t wait for the next video.
I've never romanced Kaidan. But the scene in the airlock with Shepard watching his ass makes me wish I'd tried it once. No telling how many things like that there are after he slinks back on the Normandy.
