You can feel how focused they all are. this job site is dead silent. You could hear a pin drop, No time killing chatter to the camera just butt puckered and triple checking everything. Great video and flawless work like we expected.
I’ve been driving tankers with propane, butane, and anhydrous ammonia for the last 10 years. This could’ve been a major disaster. You guys are top notch!
Tanks like this are designed and built under Federal Regulations for strength and safety. It amazes me that no provision is engineered in advance for ease of lifting or positioning. It is an absolute certainty that at some time a pressure tank will end up on its side or over an embankment... Given the certainly of that, it is crazy to me that these tanks don't have an array of engineered lifting attachment points right from the point of build. this is a huge oversight of the agency in charge. Great job of getting this done in such a challenging situation.. Amazing teamwork, even more amazing problem solving in the field👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Whilst it sounds like a good idea, the lifting points could introduce points of weakness in the tank as it is a pressure vessel. And a roll over could conceivably land on a lifting point and punch a hole in the tank.
@@morriewyatt6234 yeahhhh BUT.... what you see is the exterior "beat me up skin"..... the actual tank is a few layers in, yes potentially a lift point could be crushed into the inner liners.... BUT... could they not just weld under the skin some reinforcing?
It's both sensible and yet amusing that the Fire Dept, we're like "Here's a bleeper, we'll be waiting way over there in a concrete bunker we've knocked up." No point them being in the danger zone, and in the way, until you'd finished. I still find it crazy how many tankers you guys recover.
Great job! This one really shows just what a team effort these things are, with everyone helping each other, and the consultations that go into solving each piece of the puzzle.
I helped out on this same operation back in the 80s. We had powered hydraulic rams and a 20 ton boom truck. Took us 12 hrs. Definitely not a job to be taken lightly! Nice work.
Did my Hazmat for driving trucks many years ago those of us who know will be impressed with how you pick this up safely, I also like the fire officer for putting the gas alarm on your truck that tanker is 1 big bomb would have been life changing. Stay safe all
The 2 white caps on top of the tanker are pressure relief valves in the event that the pressure rises too high in temperature. The caps open until the pressure equalizes
Good morning Tom, Got to admit the 1st thing that registered in my mind when you pealed that cap off the well area was another "garage floor from hell"!! Remember that disaster a few months ago?? Your artistic work on the cuts for the approach to the house was really nice. Good call. I say it all the time but your crew and you as well make a hard trade look easy. The true definition of a professional. Sad to see Elliott taking off. He seems like a good kid. If he would stay around he could be a group leader on a separate crew after you retire. Not cutting out Tom or Matt by any means, just adding a good worker. You still have many good years in you as well. Look forward to your new job. Could that much concrete overwhelm that house. It looked pretty small. I'm sure you'll come up with something.
That is part of the problem. If it rained more often it would wash the oil off the roadways regularly. With all the oil+water its like driving on marbles.
I do remember seeing about the propane tanker truck flipped over on the freeway when morning I was on the news before I leave home to go work that morning
Pepe serious warning! Propane is heavier than air the gas sensor should be as close to the ground as possible.. 6 feet off the ground is is a 6ft blanket of inflammable gas ... your fire service need educating! Propane is different to othe flammable gasses which are lighter than air...
Or is this just a dumb question, does a gas have fumes chemistry wasnt my best as you can tell. because ik ones a gas and ones a liquid lol it's 730am I apologize that was such a dumb question I had my coffee lmao and ik even an empty propane tank is still dangerous.
@@AnthonyW-bp6tfthere's no dumb question, just dumb answer...And now is 17:29 and I finished my cofee and got to do my night shift...So long my friend
I had it for the first time about 4 weeks ago, felt bad for 3 days, then mainly fatigue for another 10 days. It took me 12 days to drop testing positive.😊
Id love to see a comp vid of i would say like top 5 jobs you would NOT want to do again. Even tho them jobs are the ones that give you the best feeling after getting it all done and making it home.
More than 40 people died when a propane tanker hit a bridge in South Africa and exploded. The video of the immediate aftermath is, perhaps, one of the most horrifying, nightmare-inducing videos of all time.
This is a testament to Federal regulations for tank design, and whoever manufactured this pressure vessel. I’d bet that this thing will pass x-ray inspection and they’ll just paint it and keep using it.
i was always trying to figure out what that black thing was that kept popping into view, and why the view was so stable when i'm sure alex's head had to be moving funky ways
I knew your dad was there before I saw him, as I heard his voice. Did the unit slide aways after it fell over? It looks like a slice mark on the side of the trailer.
Nice recovery! I have never seen snatch blocks with the sides drilled out like that--I suppose to cut some weight?? Look like maybe 30-35 ton blocks--can't see the lables.
My cheeks would have been clenched the entire time. Massive pressurized container in an accident? I'll clean 100 clogged toilers before doing THAT! lol
I want to know is it Alex Pepe or Josh who has this UA-cam channel. I'm new to your channel and I just wanted to address you correctly. By the way I find your website very interesting to watch
I don't want to tell you how to do your job by all means but the hooks you hook up to should be facing outwards so you are pulling with the throat of the hook and not pulling with the point of the hook
I remember this, First load by himself and not even 10 mins and this shit happens. Luckily the tanker’s internal valves were closed and the tanker wasn’t maxed out.
I think yall should meet with tanker manufacturers and come up with areas to have some sort of lifting points for situations like this. Just to prevent any further damage and make it easy for anyone receiving a tanker style trailer.
What a team. Just dig it when your dad is on the job. 1st responders know it's safe recovery when you guys roll in! Could of been so much worse!

I agree, at least 4 lifting eyes should be incorporated into the strongest points of the tank.
Whilst it sounds like a good idea, the lifting points could introduce points of weakness in the tank as it is a pressure vessel.
And a roll over could conceivably land on a lifting point and punch a hole in the tank.
@@morriewyatt6234 if they were designed into to unit initially that could all be overcome.
I did not need the OSHA handbook

Absolutely missed Josh's play by play 😊
super DAVE is back, glad to see you.
One of your best recovery videos EVER. Rivals the concrete truck into the house video. Very impressive how cool headed everyone was on this job.
What I like about you guys, is that no one person knows everything and you guys talk to each other and listen to each other. Reat Team Work
AWESOME video and job VERY well done!! SUPER cool seeing your dad and Dave working together on this one!! Made it look easy!!
Mr Josh Another awesome recovery as always by team Pepe's. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
Great teamwork , big thumbs up!
Great job love seeing your dad out there doing everything the boys are doing. Thats a sign of a great leader. And not a bad job filming by Alex
I saw this from the LAFD viewpoint video last week..great job.
Thanks!
very obvious your dad knows what he's doing. something I noticed was he was willing to listen to the other drivers. job well done all.
That could have been a big disaster! But the pros were on hand to take care of it! Good job guys!
"If you hear that thing beeping? Then stop." I love that.
Nice job on recording the recovery. Keep up the great work.
I really enjoy watching people who really know their business and excel in critical thinking.

Do they have burst disc on the valves ? or some where on the tank

Can't imagine how much that cost??
Under pressure the temperature is usually around 68°
2:06 the gas detector should have been placed near the intake of the engine as well. If a diesel engine ingests propane, it will run away.

What an &@*#& you know you take corner slow when you’re fully loaded with flammable goods.😢😮
