This may be a bit off topic but I’m from nyc and back in the early 2010s and even now in some neighborhoods foams were especially loved as a “street fighting shoe” because they were light enough to pivot while still having so much stability and weight which made it easier to stay planted/avoid a rolled ankle. The jokes everytime you saw a person wearing foams are iconic, they really were the black air forces of their time.

Absolutely agree with you. I love the foamposite technology. It was so ahead of it’s time that it only started to feel dated only within the last 10 years give or take. Nike should revisit this tech implementation especially with the flightposite line…since it’s a slimmer version of the tech but kept all the benefits including a that custom fit from prolong wearing.

I think the Lebron 11s are an updated version of foamposite with a drop insole, sounds good but didn’t execute as expected.
I owned a few pairs of foamposite myself, including the original ones from 1996. They’re great sneakers, and the only weakness I find is that feet feels comparatively tired after prolonged playing

Agree and glad this has been mentioned. Foamposites, Jordan 11, 12 Air Zoom flight 95, and Air Thrill flight were a head of their time. The clinical applications are huge and not understood. I would also put the kobe 4 in there, too. If any of the above were readily available and didn't cost a fortune, i would recommend them to patients all day.

we have come to the point in sneaker culture where someone examines the structure of the foamposite and scientifically break down the reasons of benefit. This is really great contents, not often seen, thank you for your dedication
FYI Lebron 11s which I love, have foamposite pieces around the shoe but sadly Lebron was often seen wearing his previous models hence many speculated he did not like shoes, I wish we could know more and collect more performance data on Foamposite shoes cuz the Skyposites were panned but im curious how the Chuckposite and Lil Penny performed on the court. Lightweight and respiration are great for me personally but it's also sad to see the AJ 37 and Lebron 20s get ripped easily

Anyhow, with that said, I totally agree with you that the foamposite technology is the single most advanced sneaker tech in the last several decades. That and zoom air. In fact, I remember seeing a foamposite pro pearl for the first time, and it was like magic.

The best shoe is the kobe 9 if you want to still be in a basketball shoe, with a flat insert, All these other shoes especially the foamposite have a stiff bottom and narrow toe box. The leBron 20s have been giving some crazy plantar pain and as soon as I started wearing xero shoes it went away. I’m not an expert but I’ve experimented with so many shoes and what I find is most of these knee and hip and ankle injuries are from the high and over supportive shoes.

Designer Eric Avar and his team with their idea for a liquid material to suck and mold around your foot to play like its natural, plus with a carbon shank, plus with full length zoom plus a heel zoom unit (practically a precursor to Zoom Strobel as a double zoom sandwiched with each other)? They were really ahead of their time!

I really enjoyed this video and definitely agree. From his line of the 11-13, they seemed to use a combo of some Foamposite aand Hyperposite setups. I'm also thinking they could do something like they did with the Foamposite Lite (never owned those shoes, but remember them being worn a lot when they dropped.) I feel all the strain he puts on his movements would help with a beefier upper again. (And if Nike wants to make money, they can have a "Lite" version of it with a different upper perhaps.)

I have the LeBron 11s. Super comfy with full length zoom and yeah that outer shell was Hella stiff and felt like I was playing with a cast on my feet. If I'm not mistaken, Nike Lebron 4 and 12 is the closest to "Foamposite" as the uppers was basically almost full/near Foamposite.
The Foamposites have great support is because of the upper and Carbon Fiber shank but the upper is stiff as hell. But the rigidity of the upper and shank is probably what Lebron needs.

Wow, great video! I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. How cool would it be to get a shoe with updated foamposite tech, full-length Zoom "strobel", and Boa fit system? Foamposites probably don't have a traditionally sewn in strobel board, but full-length Zoom would be cool.

I stopped playing organized basketball when I was about 11 years old, but bought a pair when I started having some foot and ankle issues a few years ago. I have purchases a few extras between now and then as well. I think the only thing I would add is that they also have one of the most adjustable lacing systems. Truly, the closest comparison in terms of custom fit isnt even another shoe...it's probably my $1,000+ 3d scanned hockey skates, only less stiff.

I still think the best of the lebron line was 8-10. While they did sit a bit high (especially the 10) those were probably the lebron sneakers that weren't super bulky but at the same time supportive enough.
The 11 is one of my faves but I think lebron's foot issues made it unusable for him (I guess drop-in midsoles just would not work with his foot shape). I similarly liked the 13 elite a lot, but everyone overlooked that for the Soldier 10 because of how that finals series went.
Being a heavier-set basketball player all my life, I always looked to lebrons because of how beefy they are, but nowadays the KDs are probably just better overall performers in the Nike basketball line

For me it’s worth it, I had them freshman year of hs and wore them almost everyday, rain, sleet or snow and the soles only started to fall off freshman year of college. Everything else was in tact I just had to glue the outsole back on and it was good.

    Good video,
Honestly you do have a good point. Mainly on how it help lebron with his game. The lebron 4s was lebron version of foamposite, might not see with 21s but you might see something with the 22s maybe.
    Formposite and lightweight upper
    Rubber outsole (kobe 5, 6, 20s traction)
    Cushlon midsole
    Full length zoom strobel
    🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷

I agree 👍💯% with everything you're saying because basketball shoes nowaday suck . They are made with cheap foam with mesh/Flyknit that stretches out lol. Back in the day shoes had ankle support and hexalite cushioning , carbon fiber shanks ect. I don't know if Bron could wear those because their Penny's shoe . I think he should though because it would give a lot more support, and for someone with all his power, he wouldn't really feel the heaviness of the shoe that much . Also, my all time favorite shoes to hoop in were Jordan 12's , I felt invincible in those things .

This video is kinda old and Nike has been re-releasing the foamposite for $250. I wonder if they updated the materials. I’m thinking of getting a pair but I’m worried about the weight & cushioning. I hope you do another video on the new foamposits!
