    This is by far the best desert boss I’ve seen, BUT I have one complaint
    I Feel Like Four statues might be better than just three
    Perhaps a “circle” statue that can spin and send the flames out randomly
    All these bosses are Great and I look forward to see what comes next

      Not a bad idea, but the fight is pretty long already, so I'm afraid adding another statue might be overkill

      @@Justice449 I actually don't have any problem with long boss fights as a concept, but since pre-hardmode Terraria bosses have set a precedent for being on the shorter side, it'd be better to save the longer bosses for post-Moon Lord

    I really like the concept of this boss, but i feel like it would fit better in a temple- like structure where the masks have a set position on the background walls in the structure. It could also have a summoning altar where the phantom emerges when you take an orb from the altar. This orb could be an accessory that makes your weapons have homing, so you can use it to keep up with the speed of these bosses. The fighting area in the temple should be big enough to the point that you do not need to make your own arena by blowing up the temple.

      I might do something like this very far ahead in development, but for now I don't have any experience or knowledge in changing world generation, so that concept will have to wait

    You're very talented. I can see this mod becoming an instant classic! Also like that the spirit reflects projectiles :)

    I was expecting this to be mid but for once I was surprised to see a good desert boss!
    All it needs is a proper sprite and for the flames to have a different appearance per phase so they are distinguishable.
    Only complaint is that this is more of a hard mode boss with that moveset and arena requirement.

    This is really neat, I have no doubt that what you've been working on is on track to be really good with further development and polish. Although some aspects of the boss fights you've made make me think they may be more annoying than anything else I might be wrong and if I'm not some small tweaks could make for some top tier boss fights.

    This is sick dude, I always felt like the desert could've had something cooler, especially after they totally upgraded the underground but didn't add anything but a few enemies lol

    My only gameplay gripe is that the Phantom’s version of the Sun Face attack should chase you for longer, other than that the gameplay is fine.
    As for the design, the stone faces are very bare bones and should be designed to look better. The phantom itself has a cool face but it should be more than just a sphere (or at least add more cool particle effects).

    I got an idea for a sky boss. But it requires extending how far up the world goes for the biome of heaven we only got hell.
    The boss can be a angel and I don't mean the angels represented by us I mean the ones that are one eye as a bunch of wings circle them. Hp (3,250) Movement(Flight) Contact damage(28)
    Attacks
    Heavenly rain:
    A guaranteed hit. 18 base damage to make sure the player isn't all like no planning needed I got 200 hp. (Has a 33% chance of replacing other attacks)
    Teleport Dash:
    Teleports randomly around you and dashes at you. 33% chance of replacing attacks
    Angelic duplication: Summons 3-5 on expert angels that take no knockback and move towards you Hp(100) Contact damage(16) 33% chance to replace other attacks
    Phase 2
    The eye moves faster and so does it's tiny angels. They do 4 more base contact damage and heavenly rain goes up by 2
    Chances of attack attack are 25% with this new attack
    Blades: The angel dashes and summons 2 blades while they are there for there time of 15 seconds any other attack executed by this angel does 1.25* the damage.(30 second cool down 25% chance)

      Good idea but I'm afraid I already have a plan for a sky boss that I have my heart set on. I may however experiment with making more super-natural-esq bosses in Hardmode or post-Moon-Lord

    What do you use to make your mod, do you use tmodloader? What do you use to make sprites?
    I've always wanted to make a terraria mod but I'm on an xbox so I've been considering getting terraria and tmodloader on my computer. I even already have a couple sprites on my computer for if I ever make my mod.

      Basically I use Tmodloader and Visual Studio Community to program my mods, and I use a program called paint.net to make sprites. You can find out a fair amount by going on Tmodloader and selecting the "create mods" option, but it will take a lot of time and dedication to figure it out

    I hear you planned to make a shimmer boss. If I were you, I think it would be a prehardmode boss and to summon it you will throw an unique item to the shimmer lake.

    Very good boss fight, the Jackal Face reminds me of the desert pyramid boss from Super Mario 64.

    thats interesting concept but i have one question is it optional to fight any of the pre hardmode bosses?

      no they aren't i think, but it's way harder to kill wall of flesh without killing any pre hardmode boss, like eye of cthulu gives you the abillity to dash and gives you 30 of crismatine or demonite ore

    cool but i think you should keep in mind the kinds of arenas people will or won't build because nobody's going to make a giant arena in the underground desert for one boss
    also the description: uhhhhhhh
    it's sort of hard competing in the "best desert boss" space with bosses like scarabus (spirit) and grand thunderbird (thorium) that are extremely well designed

      I've seen Scarabus and the Grand Thunderbird, and although they are well designed, in my humble opinion I say mine is better

      @@portalmech4770 disregarding visuals, i still think the two beat this boss out in one very important factor: consideration for the player
      both are fought on the surface, which is good for a desert boss because the underground is inconvenient to make an arena in prehardmode due to high spawn rates and dangerous enemies.
      grand thunderbird takes it a step farther, and literally does not require an arena at all if you know a few tricks
      scarabus does require an arena, but with it being aboveground and the fight not being designed to take up large swathes of space, players can get away with a smaller arena
      while having to make a large arena isn't always bad, i would recommend not doing anything in prehardmode due to the length it takes, especially compared to hard mode. plus, the underground desert isn't really suited for fights, due to having small spaces & lots of dead ends naturally. compare this to plantera, terraria's only underground boss (that isn't golem), who is in hard mode letting the player use the faster mining tools, as well as the jungle being more suited to a fight naturally (with dead ends being a lot farther from the entrance), which makes a 'meta arena' more optional
      i think the main problem with your boss design is that it doesn't take into consideration the factors surrounding the fight. like it was conceptualized in a big open space and then moved to a cramped area with no changes.
      i have a few other nitpicks, like mostly only using one projectile type for like, every attack, but they're not very critical

      @@white_tiger2669 Oh, and I should probably add that you are right, I haven't really considered how hard this boss would be on a normal play through without this massive arena I made using Tedit. I don't have enough data to say for sure if it's too hard or not, so I plan to just publish it as it is and act based on how well the player base can handle it in its current state

      Also, I'd mention the Curse of the Pharoah from Secrets of the Shadows. Not sure how good that boss is in your opinion, though.

    The phantom seems way too fast for a pre- hardmode boss. You cannot hit the phantom normally with anything besides guns right now. I would suggest slowing it down or adding a rest period of 3 seconds after he has dashed a couple of times.

      I'll keep your advice under consideration, but I probably won't make any changes to the current boss fight until I've seen the general player base's reaction to it. If it turns out that a lot of players have trouble with it then I'll never it as necessary

      Well, it's easier with my vanilla boss reworks because they're expected to be stupidly hard. With unique bosses I have to actually make it beatable for the average player
