Crazy to see Savi You on here. I've watched his family vlogs for a few years now. Him and his brothers always talked about channels like this and how it would be cool to be on one....he spoke it into existence
It's just amazing. Love Cambodian food. Siem reap, Phnom Penh, KongBattambang and the coastal regions, all have different street foods. Its quite nice.
My father was a Airborne Ranger and did 3 tours in Vietnam, he'd say he was in Cambodia more than Vietnam. Was able to go back over with him through VA and it was very powerful to see my father get closure decades after he served. Cambodia was so laid back and the people were so amazing.
almost 10 years ago, i asked if you could go Cambodia to a reviews and you responded, you would love to go. But then your drone was apprehended. I'm so glad you went back and did a full tour of the country i come from. Additionally, as a Baltimorian and blue crab lover...nay, obsessor. Thank you for highlighting the sponge crab situation there. I don't mind catching females (sooks as we call them in MD), but sponge crabs are critical in sustaining a healthy population. While Cambodia doesn't have strong policy to enforce the prevention of catching sponge crabs, let's use the most powerful tool we have....SHAME!
These people need to feed there families, the government wont help, if there are no other well paid opportunities how can people survive. I value human life over a crab any day of the week. If that means there wont be any crabs left so be it.
@Mr-fe5ng Dude shut up, there's 1001 things they can catch there. Limiting the catch to male sponge crabs only will not make anyone starve. If anything it'll raise the price and make it a delicacy, allow the fishermen to make a bit more money.
I havent been in Kep province since I mostly stayed in Phnom Penh and seeing Cambodian food being eaten by popular food critics and tasting the Cambodian food just makes me happy.
As a native of Maryland it's weird to see female crabs with eggs attached being harvested for consumption. I would guess they don't care about sustainable practices in Cambodia. It's sad that the next generation of fishermen might not have these populations sustained in the future.
There is no sustainability management here in SE Asia, but the Chesapeake bay is a mess in its own right, dead zones, algae blooms, it’s really nasty, and I grew up there as well.
I'd also like to. I'm Cambodian and my grandparents are both from Cambodia. I'd like to go there to explore my culture and grow more familiar with it, as well as possibly meet my great aunt who lives there too
@@ericharris5299 lol don’t speak if you’ve never actually been there, any effects from overfishing would only be noticed maybe 20, 30 years from now and by that time stricter regulations will have been put in place. Cambodia is a pretty small country with a small population and there are only a handful of small piers like this across the coastal areas the country has. Fishing a few thousand crabs everyday is not a problem when each female crab that does survive can make hundreds of thousands of eggs to go on and reproduce themselves. And it’s not like the crabs are being extremely heavily fished and exported to other countries, they are collected by a few fishing boats and are only enjoyed by locals and tourists that visit the area.

Right, I always throwback anything that appears pregnant or full of eggs. It really doesn't matter what the species is. Not only are you not allowed to keep gravid females you aren't allowed to keep any female Dungeness crabs only males. This has resulted in a sustainable fishery.
