I mean, wacom hasn't produced much tablets for a bit of a long time, so if they don't make something new then the brands like huion and xp pen will take the spotlight from it
@@77dris Are the prices different where you're from? For me, the Huion 24" 4k tablet is $1,299, while the Wacom Cintiq Pro 24" is $1,999; making it 50% more expensive. I got those prices from the official sites of both products
A pity Huion didn't give it one of their big boy stands that attach on the back. They are perfectly adjustable and really sturdy, which would be nice for this price. But hell, I'm so glad Wacom being gradually taken off their pricy throne!
@@sanchezisfine you can buy vesa adapters for non vesa tablets, and a good aluminium one will hold these light displays just as good as the 4 screws of a standard mount
Disadvantages of having a 4k tablet. - Wrong scaling in some software, because the screen is not big enough you probably are going to use a 200% scale or you could use 100% but will make you blind, especially for the text. - Middle tier to high tier pc is what you will need to run this tablet, the reason is that you will be using 4 times bigger most of the things, for example, you will need a good video card to handle 4k, brushes will be 4 times bigger this is a real problem with captured brushes so you will need more ram, just to be safe I recommend an 8 cores CPU minimum for this tablet. - If its a Displayport connection, welcome to the nightmare of moving monitors arrangements each time you turn the tablet Off, this was a real mess, the reason is that DisplayPort monitors are plug and play. Windows will flip a coin to see if it remembers the orientation of the monitors. Get an HDMI cable version. I just had to mention all the disadvantages that people probably didn't know before buying this great tablet. Great video I really love the glove dance, keep them coming.
I'm stoked to hear that Huion's first 4k model delivers. I purchased the Kamvas 22+ last month and am absolutely in love with it. I'm looking forward to upgrading to the inevitable 22 inch 4K pen display when it launches in the next 18 - 24 months.
also got me a 22 plus for chrismas :) im so in love and my art improved drastically. its intuitive and fun, much better than my intuos drawing tablet . ill keep it for very long time and then upgrade to 4k 24" in a few years
I just ordered that tablet today (kamvaz 22 plus)! I'm so excited for it to arrive, it's quite an upgrade and for the quailty it says it is it's a bargain
I have a question can you use a chrome book instead of a laptop/ computer to use these I am a student and I can’t afford buying a laptop... Btw I use an HP chrome book. Bc you know you hav to have a laptop to make the actual screen display work.
Fun fact: Wacom used to be a front company for the Unification Church. The management claims they have severed ties with the cult, but not everyone believes that.
Gone are the days the first comment would be "you can only produce "Art" on a Wacom" - this Huion looks amazing and I've been waiting for a 16inch screen. $800 for a 4K screen is really good.
I agree. I find that around 140-150 pixels per inch (PPI) for a drawing dislay is enough. QHD on a 16 inch would give 195 PPI, which is great. I have used the 13HD cintiq, which has a PPI of 170, which is more than enough. The cintiq 27 QHD only has a PPI of a 109, which I find a bit low on a drawing display. For a normal display that you keep at an around an arms length, 109 is okay, but a drawing dislay you use closer to your eyes, the pixels become a bit too visible.
@@queertales IMO any pen display approaching 300dpi is basically just another beast because the 100% zoom would be displayed almost life size. Without such high DPI you would have to choose between seeing the full image and seeing the full detail. Though otherwise, QHD is not that bad of a choice, and it's certainly much cheaper (both in screen cost and in PC spec cost). (And now think of it, alternatively maybe just buy 2 1080p 12 inch displays of the same brand and use them at the same time, which would probably cost the same as if there's a QHD 16 inch display)
15.6 inch laptop comes with a QHD screen becomes a thing in 2021, so that is very reasonably for us to havea a QHD kamvas 16. But I really doubt that the price tag will com down because a 4K 15.6 inch LCD screen only coasts around 100USD while HUION raised the price tag significantly......
Huion is officially top tier now. I really like Huion and glad they came up with something like this. I got the Huion Kamvas 16 pro a while back for 350 USD on sale, if you need something cheaper with a full hd laminated display this would be my recommendation.
I bought one. It was supposed to be shipped about two weeks ago and it still hasn’t. Huion didn’t say anything about that until I sent them an e-mail. They just replied they’re delayed but don’t have an actual date when they’ll be in stock. I already paid for it!
Ive bought a number of products from them, and made the mistake of buying directly through them the first time. Rule of thumb - if you buy Huion, buy it from them on Amazon only.
Yes, as Josh White says buy Huion products through Amazon. I brought a Kamvas 22 when it had recently came out, and I got it in 3 days from ordering from Amazon.
Honestly, a new Huion lover here. I used for almost 5 years a 21.50 UGEE tablet, big huge crystal there. But did the job. I ordered and returner a Huion Kamvas 20, the screen was awfull with lot of ghosting. Now with a little bit more of budget I own a Huion Kamvas 22 Plus, (499€) and OH BOY! THAT IS Awesome! Sooner or later you would want to draw a bigger screen so you can draw with your elbow or arm, the colors needs a little tweaking here and there, but once you have it... BOOM! Best tablet ever. On the resolution: You SHOULD be drawing at least with a distance from your hand to your elbow with the screen. So, at that distance, HD for me it's cool enough. I think that feature of 4k is really not necessary to do art. Good or bad. Sam out! ^__^
Love that Brad never gets offended and keeps the vibes going Also I got more likes on a comment roasting brad than on any video in my youtube career Lmao!
I bought this 4 weeks ago and it was supposed to ship 2 weeks ago. They claim they don't have the item, as they're having a delay in getting stock and won't give me, nor the dude who contacted me with the same issue an estimation of when they will receive stock. Yet they somehow have stock to send out for review!? What the heck, Huion!? Anyway, I'm very glad for the review, despite $1,000 being held hostage for a product I don't even know when I'll receive.
I went through the same thing with a different model. After over a month I cancelled my order and a week later it was on Amazon but not with the "pre-order" discount but full price, I think it was like 10% more. Oh and they charged me a restocking fee even though it was out of stock
Love your pen display reviews! Even though I already have one it still is nice to know which new ones are on the market. Your presentation and personality keeps me watching. Also congrats with the 500K subscribers.
Thanks for the review -- told me everything I need to know to buy it. It's crazy to me that Wacom discontinued it's 16" Cintiq Pro (which did have 4K -- the feature I miss most). Hopefully this one lasts longer than the couple of years I squeezed out of my Cintiq.
I bought this one recently second hand, but brand new. The guy who sold it had ordered it from Huion, but as the shipping took 2-3 weeks, and he needed it for work NOW...he wound up getting a bigger Huion display that was available locally. I bought it kind of on a whim, as he was selling it cheap, and I've been wanting a QHD or 4K 16" Cintiq for a long time. I'm comparing this to the devices I'm familiar with, which include the Cintiq 13HD, Cintiq 21UX, Cintiq 27QHD, ThinkPad Yoga 12" with a Wacom Bamboo EMR pen and various Intuos tablets going back to the ArtPad up to around Intuos 4. I've tested it with Clip Studio Paint, Krita, GIMP, Rebelle 4, ArtRage and Blender on Windows, and I tested it a bit on Linux. I've had it for almost a week, but I've only put in 10 hours of work on it...so these are really first impressions. What I've found so far. - The screen is very sharp and crisp, and colors seem good (haven't calibrated it or measured anything yet). At 282.4 PPI (pixels per inch), it's a huge step up from the 27QHD which is only around 109 PPI or the 13HD, which is 166 PPI. Personally I feel 109 PPI is a bit too low on a drawing screen, as you can clearly see the pixels, but the 13HD's 166 PPI is actually fine. At 282.4 PPI I needed to set Windows to 200% scale to make interface elements and menus a comfortable size. - There is almost no parallax, so when you touch the pen to the screen it feels like it's on the cursor. The 21UX and 27QHD both have quite a big parallax, maybe 3-5mm, though you do get used to it quite quickly. The 13HD and ThinkPad, don't have much parallax even though they are not laminated. - I screen is etched glass, but feels ever so slightly more slippery to draw on than the 27QHD. It also seems like the etching becomes slightly visible when looking at a white page as what looks like super fine grained color aberration. This is not really a problem, and I don't think it will mess up the colors of your work. Doing any kind of matte finish on a super high-res screen like this one is tricky, as the grain in the etched glass or matte film can easily interfere with the tiny details in the pixels. - The whole device is very light weight, and works fine getting power through the three in one cable, using the USB port on my workstation without using the power adapter. - I find 16" to be a comfortable size to work at. I find the 13HD a bit too small and the 27QHD a bit to big, although this is just my personal preference and will depend on how you like to work. On the 27QHD you have to really stretch to reach the toolbox on the left in most drawing programs, so I find myself sitting left of center to make it more comfortable to work with. - The stand is not the greatest. It's stable enough, but the screen is not stuck to it so it feels like it could slip of the small lip at the bottom if you bump into it. It also doesn't have that many angles to choose from. In some ways it's similar to the one on the Cintiq 13HD, but that one was clipped on to the back of the screen. That said, there are a bunch of stands available relatively cheaply online that could be a good replacement, so it's by no means a deal breaker. - The pen is great. The only difference real difference between it and the one with the 13HD and 27QHD (they use the same pen), is that the actuation force (pressure needed before it registers a line) needed seems to be slight higher, but it's by such a tiny amount that I don't really notice it unless I'm looking for it. It's not nearly as bad as the n-trig pens on the Surface devices I've tried in the past. As for pressure and tilt, I honestly can't tell the difference between this and the Cintiq. - The Huion drives seem to conflict with the Wacom drivers. So you'll need to uninstall one before installing the other. - I miss the pie menus from the Wacom drivers. These are super handy to get quick access to commonly used tools. That said, there are 3rd party alternatives that can add similar functionality to Windows (e.g. in the past I've used StrokeIt for right click gestures). - There are no fans in this thing, so it's completely silent, and it seemlingly doesn't get hot either. The newer 4K Cintiq's all have fans in them as far as I know, though the older 13HD and 27QHD don't. - It more or less works under Linux, or Ubuntu anyway. I didn't get tilt to work in Krita under Ubuntu (it did underWindows), but pressure worked fine. Also, the default tablet settings don't recognize it nor does xsetwacom. The calibration was of by about the width of the pen nib, and there was no way to calibrate it out of the box (calibration done in Windows doesn't carry over, as it's a driver thing). That said, I didn't make any effort to find drivers or tools for it on Linux, so this may be easy to fix, I was mostly just surprised that it worked at all. - Out of the box the pen calibration was slightly off, with the cursor maybe a millimeter or two down to the left, but calibrating it was quick and easy, and worked perfectly (at least on Windows). - I had some issues with mapping it correctly in Clip Studio Paint and GIMP when I had a second QHD screen connected. It would work fine on the interface elements, but was off by about half a screen when drawing on the canvas. When I set CSP to use TablePC, rather than Wintab, it worked fine, but for GIMP I didn't find a solution. I did notice just now that the Huion settings has the Enable Windows Ink checkbox checked, so it's possible playing around with that fixes the problem. I'm pretty sure GIMP doesn't use Windows Ink. Note that when using it as the only screen, mapping was not an issue. - So far I haven't really had any technical issues with it. It hasn't disconnected, I haven't lost pressure or had other werid problems. - Holding down the power button for a few seconds opens up on-screen settings for adjusting the brightness, contrast and colors using the pen. I believe this is a hardware thing, so should work on Linux. The 13HD, 27QHD and pretty much any newer Cinitq's only let you adjust color, brightness and contrast from the driver, which can problematic for Linux users who don't dual boot. So far I'm super happy with it and it may very well replace my 27QHD. Don't get me wrong, the 27QHD is a great device and I would be happy to work on it for years to come, but it's also gigantic and for someone living in a small apartment who doesn't do art full time nor have a dedicated workroom to keep the thing, it's honestly a bit of an overkill. I guess I'll give it another week or two, before I decide on which device to keep. That said, I should probably just do a full review of this thing and start competing with Brad. :)
Hi. Did you noticed any "squish" on the screen when you press the pen against the screen a little harder? Something like what happens in 3:03 of this video: ua-cam.com/video/DeBSilHeEt4/v-deo.html
@@Lucas_1706 I haven't noticed that at all, but I don't tend to press very hard with the pen either. Unfortunately I'm away from home, so can't make sure that this doesn't happen, and that I just haven't noticed it.
I already have a Huion pen display, but I was thinking about upgrading just to get QLED because all of my displays are IPS (the laptop, the Huion, and my home desk monitor). It's partly because of movies and TV -- I end up having to watch dark movies on my phone's OLED because I hate that washed-out look of backlit IPS screens where the darkest black is really a darkish grey -- but it's also a creative concern because I'm making movie scenes in Blender, and I need to see those dark values as a range. Does this pen display's QLED screen give you those pure, inky blacks associated with OLED, or is it a long way off that?
I just got mine Huion Kamvas 16 Pro last month and i like very much even though it was only HD Screen but it have the shortcut key i need to makes my workflows much better.
I have a question can you use a chrome book instead of a laptop/ computer to use these I am a student and I can’t afford buying a laptop... Btw I use an HP chrome book. Bc you know you hav to have a laptop to make the actual screen display work. Sorry to be a bother.
Owning a amvas Pro 16 2020 regular version I can say that it is great. Absolutely agreed with Brad - almost no parallax, great pen, better cables as compared to the Kamvases of 2017-2018. One con is the stand - the tablet stands great until you decide to move it closer - it just slips because the landing deck is too small and has no stopper. Otherwise - amazing piece of harware.
Honestly, this seems enticing but I have had to return two bad screen tabs from Huion. It sucks because I enjoy their graphics tablets, but I don’t know if I want to purchase from Huion again. It’s like every brand has very mixed reviews for their display tablets and I’ve been really inconclusive on what to get.
Wacom is definitely the best in terms of quality. I had a similar problem with Huion. Brightness on their site was a total lie or my screens were defective and extremely dim for some reason. Not to mention all the driver and calibration issues. Bought the Cintiq 16 nonpro and I can't complain even though it doesn't have a laminated screen or any fancy features.
@@mnurkose7316 I had to return them because they would only stay on for 10 minutes before deciding to never stay on again. The tablet part would work, but the display wouldn’t and it never happened to me with my previous Cintiq, which I ended up having to throw out anyways.
Give me this as 22 or 24 inch and I'd be in, I think. Also a closer look on the differences between this and the plus version would be very interesting. Is it what separates it from pro / amateur work requirements?
So, I hopped from review to review for the 16" non-4k about a year ago, bit the bullet and bought one... I got to say, even with some of the negative quirks of the Huion, I still vastly prefer it to the Wacoms I've tried. Almost half in part because they make their drivers work properly, which is absolutely insane that Wacom has still not figured out how to get their drivers in check (they remind me of logitech). Just wanted to say thanks from like a year ago for the advice towards a new tablet and will keep tuning in into the future!
@@embodie_breaks7089 In my experience, after one of the bigger updates I just had the exact same issues as before. A few artist friends were recommending making a back up file of my settings that I could just revert to when the drivers would act up, but I was already looking to upgrade anyway so I just ditched out. It's been a bit, but I have a few friends that still run into the "hold on guys, gotta restart since Wacom's acting up." Edit, for comparison: To be fair, I also know people who don't seem to have any problems, but they are also aware of the amount of people who do. For Huion, the only real issue I ran into was the initial setup, but after getting through that it's been working near flawless for me.
@@abdulmalik2388 nah my left arm get sore very easily when I use shortcuts on keyboard, I use shortcuts a lot, I very frequently change brush size, ctrl z, and it really do be taking a toll on my arm. So I need shortcut buttons more than 4k. HD screen didn't hurt anything, so I prefer HD with shortcuts over 4k
YAAAASSSSSS!!! Ladies and gentlemen!!! What we’ve all been waiting for! Etched glass would’ve been a nice touch though, but all things considered, this is well worth the price!!!
it's looking good! does the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 (4k) have fans? i returned my cintiq 16" pro because they were super intrusive, and my 24" pro is starting to notice the warmer weather. (i'm crazy paranoid with there being no way to buy a replacement right now)
They have a kamvas studio to rival the Wacom mobile studio but only available from their main international site. Amazon uk and huion uk don’t stock it. Oh and it’s $2000 cheaper than the Wacom.
Maybe Wacom cintiq 16 sales rate might be higher than Wacom cintiq pro 16. So Wacom might have found more profit on selling Wacom cintiq 16 than pro 16.
I'm very surprised latency isn't mentioned. It's such an important aspect of pen displays. EDIT: Wow, I looked it up on their website, and the latency is massive (in comparaison with their other models). Brad, didn't it bother you in any way? When you're doing the pen test, we can see the stroke lagging an inch behind the pen. And you're not even going that fast.
this table is 25ms, Wacom one is 26ms, which actually its not as lag as we think, I normally draw very fast (rough style), and even Wacom one with 26ms response time still wont feel any lag
@@Arkogelul 8ms? Maybe you set stabilizer or other setting too high, or brush stroke type, impossible use normal brush can have problem with lagging below 26 ms. Im using mobile studio pro, cintiq pro 24, and wacom one, all good.
I have a cintiq pro 16 and an ipadpro, what I really miss on the cintiq is the 120hz refresh rate. Pro pen 2 is definitely laggy compared to Apple pencil, this makes drawing on the iPad a much better experience imho. I guess this huion has the same "problem". Nice review as usual Brad!
Glad to hear the gap is practically non existent. Don't take me wrong, I have always enjoyed your content and how you generally present tools but my favorite part and look first for is the ruler test. Cheers.
Love Huion's progress through the years. From being bashed by the art community for being a bad drawing tablet to now being the first 4k drawing tablet.
hey brad why do you think touch input on display tablet for PC/mac is (still) not a thing? i would like to draw on PC/mac display tablet but after using ipad pro as my drawing device for years, i really like the touch input on my drawing flow
I started to put some money aside hoping that I will be albe to purchase an Ipad Air 4, only to use Procreate mostly , but now that I found Huion's new line, and see the prices, I'm pretty sure I won't be an Apple customer very soon! Thanks Brad for another great review! 👍😂
2:17 Huion's website says that "you *may* need to connect the power cable when using USB-C" because of the 4k resolution's power usage... so is it not enough to power it with just a laptop? Is it enough to power it via USB-C when in pen tablet mode (with the display off)? I do plan to eventually upgrade to a larger 4k display (when my workspace allows for it haha) and was thinking I could continue using this as a portable option since it's light and fits perfectly in my laptop bag.
Brad your reviews are always useful. HUION have come out with a lot of pens across their year on year upgrades, have you tried one of their version 3 pens on an older tablet? Do they work, I know they say they only work with latest tablets, but other things often work across historic versions. It would be interesting to know.
I have the original Artisul D16 from November 2017 (I actually pre-ordered it). Has worked flawlessly since getting it, but now I think I need an upgrade since it's only 1080p and the colour accuracy and brightness is noticeably worse than my BenQ monitor and MBP 16. When I first bought it the colour accuracy and res didn't matter too much since it was just for drawing as a hobby, but at work I've went from "the guy with Photoshop" to "the principal UI designer" recently and the D16 just doesn't cut the mustard now. After watching this review I've went and put the Plus model in my shopping basket along with Huion's KD100 and Backback; I can officially blame you for the four figure hole in my pocket. :P
I have the 16 Pro plus. I like it a lot. My only two gribes are the menus and tools can get a bit too small and the lack of VESA mount points on the back. Fortunately I use a program, which can be scaled. But it might be a problem for those using a program, where the menus and tools can not be scaled. Else I really love this unit. It is not too big and it is not too small. And I have made a small platform to get it a little higher up, so I do not have to bend over the tablet. I thought of the 24" 4K version to start with. But I found it too expensive and big for my office desk. And this gives the same resolution but is smaller and fit the length of my arms very well. Besides, you do not need to use the power plug, if your computer USB-C output has enough power.
Depends on what you want to pay. I honestly wouldn't buy the cintiq 16 when the Huion Kamvas 16 2021 is much better and much cheaper. If you don't want any pixilated art, then the Kamvas 16 4k is the one for you. And at that price point, I'd honestly just upgrade to the 16 pro plus 4k for the better color gambut and contrast ratio. However, wait until it appears on Amazon if you can. Huion is having issues receiving stock, so nobody's product has even shipped yet, 2 weeks later. And yes, the pen is almost just as good (only difference is a little wobble, but that's why we have pen stabilization), and the drivers are perfectly fine.
I have the kamvas 22 plus which uses the same pen, i honestly cannot fault it - pen pressure, tilt, etc all work perfectly and they fixed the nib wobble that the older pens had. I dont know if the 16 uses the same drivers but the only driver issues ive had with the 22 plus is that occasionally when i connect my third monitor it switches the main display but its really easy to fix in driver settings
the price while high, seems to be reasonable if compared with a wacom model of the same specs if they ever release one, which would probably be going for an asking price of 1500 to 2000 for being 4k
No, I don't have any plans to because it doesn't fit my art style. But there are some other UA-camrs like Borodante who has a really great video about it.
Great review and this looks like a really good alternative to a Wacom while not comporomising. I was thinking about waiting for the new iPad Pro but I honestly think this would be a better fit for my needs, allowing me to access apps on both Windows and macOS to give me a richer set of creative tools.
i love it and will finally have the money to buy a tablet, so this is my choice especially after seeing your review. My only nit pick is the lack attachment holes to attach to a proper stand
Are the colors really good by any chance? Because I know that the Kamvas Pro 24 had slightly inferior screen colors (from some reviews say) to the Kamvas 22 Plus due to keeping the price down. But it's cool to see that Huion is finally standing up to be a Wacom competitor than just a mere alternative! And competitors are always good, because this might push Wacom to rerelease or update their Cintiq Pro 16 (much like how the cheaper Cintiqs and Wacom One exists to compete with Huion and XP-PEN in the market, because they're doing that good to push that decision on Wacom.)
I think that 4K for a 15.6 inch display is a little overkill, but if it's accurate and looks good then why not? Personally though, I'd like to see Huion refresh the Kamvas 20 or Pro 20 ( 19.5 inch displays ) with a 1440p or 4K resolution. The higher resolution makes more sense for the larger pen displays, so they deliver more workspace while also looking less pixelly than the current ones with only 1080p. Part of me expects Huion to overlook the 20s in that regard, so it's probably more likely that the 22s or 24 will get the 4K treatment, which will still be a welcome development.
I'm actually still confused about which one I actually have. I ordered the Plus, but I think they sent me the non plus because the plus has a dark gray back and mine has the light gray back. But honestly I have no idea.
The biggest issue I found on the cable, is that the USB-C one too short... only 1m and that leads to me moving my PC on top of the desk. Other than that, perfect. (I had a Kamvas 16 recently)
Can you compare it to wacom cintiq pro 16? I am just considering buying cintiq pro 16 today, but I see this video. Kinda holding me back to buy cintiq pro 16, especially when you say wacom doesn't produce it anymore. Should I buy wacom cintiq pro 16 (new items are still available in my country), or this huion? What about this huion compatibility with m1 macbook? Thank you.
Im exited, because xppen is about to release their 4k screen too! I’m sure they are going to send that model to him. I already have a 2nd gen artist 22, but still I love his reviews :3
You should talk more about the drivers and software in your reviews, this is the breaking point for me and why I returned a cheap drawing monitor to stay on a Wacom drawing tablet.
Oh? May I please hear your tips on this, I'm absolutely torn between Huion Kamvas Pro 16 4k or just... a regular wacom cintiq 16, but I heard bad things about both so I'm worried as to which one I should get.
@@dinoadventure5336 I have a Wacom Intuos tablet and in Wacom drivers you can configure different settings per apps as you would expect but the XP-PEN driver had only one system wide settings and it's a major setback that goes untold in a lot of reviews. I also had to reinstall the driver at least once because it stopped detecting the screen. Alternative brands now make great products but the drivers are limiting them. You can still use them, you will do have to change your app settings to fit the tablet instead. It's up to you. Just to be fair, I also had my fair share of driver issues over the years with Wacom, so it's not perfect either.
Hey Brad, I'd like to say that I really appreciate your tablet reviews and I'd like to ask you something. I've been drawing on my iPad 10.5 inch for a year now I and really wanted to upgrade to something bigger and on Windows. The problem is that I'd like a display that has touch and works as smoothly with gestures as the iPad does. I own a wacom intuos pro and photoshop is really clunky with the rotation and zoom gestures, but it works just fine on the corel painter. The thing is that a cintiq with touch would just be way off my bugdet. So I'd like to hear if you know if the other brands have something like that, because I haven't been able to identify. Thanks anyway!
It's a funny thing about screen size. Like you say you prefer the 16 to the 24 inch. I'm the same with paper size. Preferring A2 over A1 size. Bigger isnt necessarily always better, but depends heavily on your drawing style. That said I think A2 is probably closer to your 24 inch Cintiq, so I'll swap you for a brand new Huion for your Cintiq 24! 😁😉
I love the idea of a digital art pen-display, I even had one of a while but even that little bit of lag/drag ruins it for me. The Ipad pros don't have any lag (or it's so small that it's imperceptible) and they feel great to draw on. I just can't afford one :P So I'm still waiting for the right partner... I hope they solve all those pesky issues eventually. To me drawing is more about the experience than the result
Have a cintiq 16. Wore off the resistance coating. Bought a paper feel screen protector and worn that smooth too.Waiting for etched glass from their competitors. I’d probably wear the coating off this one too. Wacom said “keep my third party screen protector on and use the felt nibs. “ I thought Wacom just had a brexit / eu issue with some products but it seems they have discontinued them.
Wait, the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 is also a 16 inch 4k drawing tablet isn't it? Edit: Nvm, just got there in the video. It is still available in the European store in case anyone was interested
I ordered the plus version 2 days ago and keep refreshing my email for a shipment confirmation email. How long did it take for you to get yours after ordering it in the USA?
This will be my first time looking into a pen display. Is there a big difference in accuracy between the version 2 and version 3 pen? How much of a noticeable improvement will it be with the version 3 pen?
I would use it as a third screen and I am wondering if you can do like Wacom Cintiq tables, being able to move from one screen to the other (between those other screens and turning off the screen on the tablet) when you are not drawing on it, the same way you do with tablets without screen. Sometimes I am editing video or doing 3D on a larger screen and need to use the tablet like those without screen, but then sometimes I would need the screen "on" to paint on it. Is this possible? Thanks in advance, :)
It's really weird to see Wacom discontinued the smaller Cintiq Pro model, without any true successor. Sure, the Cintiq 16 is probably what most people will buy, but the 13" have no alternative on their Cintiq lineup aside of the Wacom One.
Huion is giving Wacom a run for their money and I'm here for it. Wacom needs competition.
I mean, wacom hasn't produced much tablets for a bit of a long time, so if they don't make something new then the brands like huion and xp pen will take the spotlight from it
Isn’t Wacom making most money by licensing their pens to other mobile phone manufacturers? Who knows, huion uses Wacom licenses underneath 😁
Wacoms like the 24 Pro are not much more money than the Huion 24 4k (only 10% difference). However, the Wacom has fans which is super annoying.
@@77dris Are the prices different where you're from? For me, the Huion 24" 4k tablet is $1,299, while the Wacom Cintiq Pro 24" is $1,999; making it 50% more expensive. I got those prices from the official sites of both products
im a wacom user
and i say bash wacom with competition give em no mercy
A pity Huion didn't give it one of their big boy stands that attach on the back. They are perfectly adjustable and really sturdy, which would be nice for this price.
But hell, I'm so glad Wacom being gradually taken off their pricy throne!
Same.
Yeah, this is what I'm looking for the most on my next tablet. My have to settle for another wacom for the sake of having that arm stand.

QHD resolution with a smaller price tag would be the sweet spot for me!

Sam out! ^__^

I had been waiting for this review ever since the product released!
Something like what happens in 3:03 of this video:
ua-cam.com/video/DeBSilHeEt4/v-deo.html
@@Lucas_1706 I haven't noticed that at all, but I don't tend to press very hard with the pen either. Unfortunately I'm away from home, so can't make sure that this doesn't happen, and that I just haven't noticed it.
Oh. I should probably add to this that I wound up selling my Cintiq 27QHD and 13HD, so the Huion is now my main drawing device.
There is no Wacom -> Huion driver conflict on the Mac OS Monterey. I have both drivers running without any issues.

Love that these Wacom competitors are improving, but at 16 inches, a touch layer, along with 1440\2k would have been infinitely more useful
Sweet, was thinking of buying one of these.
I have the Huion 22+ with 97% Adobe and I absolutely love it. I only think that a QHD resolution would make it better. 4K would be for 27" and up.

Love the review, Brad 🙌 Just a little curious, you say that you have the "non pluss version" but aren't you unboxing the "plus version"?
So, I hopped from review to review for the 16" non-4k about a year ago, bit the bullet and bought one... I got to say, even with some of the negative quirks of the Huion, I still vastly prefer it to the Wacoms I've tried. Almost half in part because they make their drivers work properly, which is absolutely insane that Wacom has still not figured out how to get their drivers in check (they remind me of logitech). Just wanted to say thanks from like a year ago for the advice towards a new tablet and will keep tuning in into the future!
are the drivers really that bad? I heard rumors' they fixed em.
@@embodie_breaks7089 In my experience, after one of the bigger updates I just had the exact same issues as before. It's been a bit, but I have a few friends that still run into the "hold on guys, gotta restart since Wacom's acting up."
Edit, for comparison: To be fair, I also know people who don't seem to have any problems, but they are also aware of the amount of people who do. For Huion, the only real issue I ran into was the initial setup, but after getting through that it's been working near flawless for me.

Why did Wacom discontinue the Wacom Cintiq *Pro* 16? I was looking to buy that one for its specific specs 😥

Glad to hear the gap is practically non existent. Don't take me wrong, I have always enjoyed your content and how you generally present tools but my favorite part and look first for is the ruler test. Cheers.
Love Huion's progress through the years. From being bashed by the art community for being a bad drawing tablet to now being the first 4k drawing tablet.
hey brad why do you think touch input on display tablet for PC/mac is (still) not a thing?
i would like to draw on PC/mac display tablet but after using ipad pro as my drawing device for years, i really like the touch input on my drawing flow
nuts how far all these alternatives have come and how wacom really needs to start stepping up if they still want to be THE brand to go for tablets.
Great video! It's incredible what can be done on this thing! Wow!
Should I get this instead of the Wacom cintiq 16? I am worried about how good is the pen and about the drivers, is it as stable as wacom?
Years ago wacom made one Cintiq 16 pro, and yeah you were right about the price.
CAN'T WAIT FOR A 24 INCH 4K HUION TABLET
Can you make a Review of the Realistic paint Studio app?
No, I don't have any plans to because it doesn't fit my art style. But there are some other UA-camrs like Borodante who has a really great video about it.
@@thebradcolbow 👍🏻
Great review and this looks like a really good alternative to a Wacom while not comporomising. I was thinking about waiting for the new iPad Pro but I honestly think this would be a better fit for my needs, allowing me to access apps on both Windows and macOS to give me a richer set of creative tools.
Finally a review on this, thank you!!
i love it and will finally have the money to buy a tablet, so this is my choice especially after seeing your review. My only nit pick is the lack attachment holes to attach to a proper stand
I ordered mine (Plus Version) and it's supposed to arrive this Monday
The Plus model has 145% sRGB, so it should have amazing color accuracy.
@@PlazDreamweaver Totally missed on the Plus model, so that's great! I'm glad they didn't cut corners on color accuracy for this one.
Arguably, the 15" 4k hp 360 envy laptop comes close in size and has been around (with drawing ability) for a couple of years now!
4k baby!
Did anyone notice that the package that has the pen display says "Kamvas pro 16 plus"? Cuz brad said he was reviewing the non plus one
I'm actually still confused about which one I actually have. I ordered the Plus, but I think they sent me the non plus because the plus has a dark gray back and mine has the light gray back. But honestly I have no idea.
I was surprised anyone would order the non plus version especially Brad!
@@thebradcolbow They keep telling people they don't have any stock. How did yours even ship?
Business man Brad making moves by publishing the first review of the Kamvas 16 4K anywhere on the web
Thanks anyway!
brad and his undying love for drawing gloves
I thought Wacom just had a brexit / eu issue with some products but it seems they have discontinued them.
The plus version has etched glass! I have the 22 plus which is also etched glass and ive had zero screen-wear after 6 months of near daily use
according from wikipedia
4K = 4096 x 2160
UHD = 3840 x 2160
I believe Cintiq pro 16 is available on wacom's site.
Huion just announced a 24 PRO 4K today!
Wait, the Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 is also a 16 inch 4k drawing tablet isn't it?
Edit: Nvm, just got there in the video. It is still available in the European store in case anyone was interested
probably just old stocks thats left. I exepct those Cintiq Pro 16 gonna run out in about another year and a half
Are you going to be reviewing the xtend touch pro 4k AMOLED pen display? That thing looks impressive.
I ordered the plus version 2 days ago and keep refreshing my email for a shipment confirmation email. How long did it take for you to get yours after ordering it in the USA?
Finally my prayers have been answered
I'm sold. Im gonna buy one on amazon right now
Finally, someone has made a 16 inch Wacom competitor that has higher than 1080p resolution.
Question: Can the 4k resolution be turned down to 1080p to allow laptops that don’t support 4k to use it?
Thanks for the great review!
It's really weird to see Wacom discontinued the smaller Cintiq Pro model, without any true successor. Sure, the Cintiq 16 is probably what most people will buy, but the 13" have no alternative on their Cintiq lineup aside of the Wacom One.
I got one of these and it’s really better then my Wacom cintiq pro 16.
Great review man will you be reviewing the Inspiroy key dial kd200
