just got mine... LOVE it!!! if this thing stays clean and doesn't start crackling (as a few have complained about) it's going to be a 5-star piece in my studio... so far, it's flawless...

hey there! the CMC2 has a mono SUBwoofer out but all subwoofers i know of (including my KRK 10s) are designed to input both L+R signals which are then carried on to the actual L+R Monitors. How do i properly connect my KRK 10s Subwoofer to the CMC2's Sub Out? Thank you!

Hi, great video! What is the headphone outputs impedance? I have an Audio Technica ATX-R70X headphone and looking for a monitor controller+headphone amp solution so I wonder does this device would help? Thanks!!

Great review, you deserve a lot more views. Just one thing; Is it really supreme quality (uncolored sound), or do you take into account the low price when you praise the build. thanks

luckystrke thanks for the kind review.
It is genuinely a very good sounding piece of kit. It's clear and crisp and doesn't colour the audio at all, which is absolutely key to get the most accurate mixes.
It's as uncoloured as a short piece of straight wire. Exactly the same circuitry as the more expensive monitor controllers, but just a few less features - which I mention in the video - such as the multi-band solo on the next model up.
Build-quality wise: it's still going strong months later. There's been a few crackles on the master volume knob, but I don't think we've seen any gear that doesn't have a few crackles after a while. They soon disappear though after a quick twist.
      Thanks!
      James

sad that they don't have a trim to balance the outputs, because on my focal alpha 65 they don't have a trim knob

Hi there, really nice review. I saw you on another channel reviewing the Audient Nero. How do you rate the quality of both units? In fact I don't need the extra outputs and inputs of Nero so the Cmc2 would be largely enough for my studio. But nothing is important to me but quality and transparency. Would the Cmc2 pass a null test as good as Nero? If so I would choose Cmc2, if not I would go for Nero even if its too large fro me. Thank you!

Is the big knob stepped or continuous?

This thing looks amazing for it's price! When you have a sub plugged in, how does all the crossover stuff happen? When pairing the mono out with a pair of studio monitors, how would you have it set up so that the sub crosses over correctly without having to deal with spl stacking, or does it already do that by itself? Thanks for the review

    • @CosmicAudio

Hi there, thanks for your comment! The sub out is basically just a summed mono output, there is no crossover technology built in, or even a separate trim or level control for the sub. So you’d need to make sure your subs match well with your main monitors and have a built in low pass filter. If your system is passive (as ours is) then you’ll need a separate LPF or crossover to roll off the highs. So, effectively, the sub out is literally just a separate switched mono output. Hope that helps and thanks again!

do you get the same frequency response, even at very low volume? on most units like this, the potentiometer doesn't allow for this.

Leo pard - Hi Leo, thanks for your comment! Yes, the frequency response remains ruler flat even at lower volumes. We often check a mix by monitor reeeeeally quietly in mono, and of course you can also use the ‘dim’ function and keep the pot at a reasonable level. But there is no noticeable deterioration, even with the pot at super low levels. Drawmer did a great job with the pot!

Could you use the mono output for a Avantone MixCube ? or is only for subwoofers ??

    • @CosmicAudio
      @CosmicAudio  6 років тому +3

Hi Christian, yes you could indeed. There is no filtering on the sub output, so you could use it as a switchable mono output. Thanks for your question!
