I just got a Land Rover ad when I clicked this video, lol. How does UA-cam dare to advertise the "most unreliable brand in the word" in a "most reliable brand" video!
Based on consumer reports, the worst reliable brand at the moment is BMW, followed by Audi. Out of 100 BMW, they found 200 faults (mainly electrical). As for the most reliable, believe it or not, the title goes to KIA.
aabidam really? I just checked 2018 reliability by make and BMW is in top 6 as most reliable ( which i find not really believable) but land rover was dead last, only chrysler is worst from LR
aabidam almost all Kias on the streets are new cars whereas half of the Toyotas that you see date more than a decade, that's why Kia is reliable, give those Kias 6 more years to live and you'll start seeing the faults. Most of these consumer reports are irrelevant because they're almost all based off 1 year ownership reports, I own a 2014 E350 and it hasn't had one fault since 2014 and most reports say that Mercs are very unreliable, reports should be done on a term of at least 3 years... It is pretty easy to understand why BMW and Audi take the 1st and 2nd place, it's because they're pioneers in the motoring industry, they always innovate so it's normal to have faults, but Range Rover from what I know hasn't created much since the 90s.
epiccheese911 There is no Question on the reliability durability and resale of the Toyota. specially with the Land Cruiser. If you want to curse Someone persuade him/her to buy a range rower in specially outside the United Kingdom where you can find your lost penny from a jungle but no spare parts for the Range Rover
A few more things: 1. A couple of LED floodlights and a LED bar on the front bumper 2. Window tint 3. Weather shields for the windows, if you can get them
There's a quick fix by deleting those mudflaps and snugging up the plastic piece to clean up that line. There's even a guy that sells a pre-cut-and-drilled piece to put in place.
Nice job on the upgrades. You mentioned in the first video how you liked the original ride with the air shocks. Can you tell me how the ride changed, if any, after you switched to the aftermarket shocks? I'd love to get input from anyone, not just Hoovies, who has done this swap. And did anything sell their factory air shocks on the used parts market? I'm pretty sure you can get a pretty penny for them if you can find a channel to sell them.

Wow! You made a greatest deal!!! What a beatiful land cruiser (Lexus, luxury version) that's the ultimate off road car!! Congrats!!! Hope I had that lucky to find a cheap land cruiser around!!
Anything else done to the rig maintenance wise? I bought a 98 land cruiser at 290k miles. And here’s what I’ve done so far: Valve cover gasket Diff fluid change, front, center, rear Starter, alternator, ignition rod Timing belt, water pump Lube drive shaft Transmission fluid .... and counting. Things upcoming, brake master, steering rack, fuse box.... all just maintenance stuff so to not get stranded (oh and I have been left stranded a couple of times). All this coming from a rig that was serviced by Toyota its entire life. So by no means “bullet proof” I guess. But it is rewarding and and she definitely gives back. But just wow, a lot of work and maintenance.
In October 2000, I bought a 2000 TLC right off the Dublin OH showroom floor, for maybe $55k... fast forward 12 years and I sold it with 120k miles for $20k (it had the Old Man Emu lift kit, the same bull bar winch front bumper, along with a few other upgrades).... from what I understand, it’s current owner still has it, and now has 200k on the odometer. Have since owned a 2012 Range Rover Autobiography/Supercharged, as well as a 2016 MB GL63 AMG (5.5L twin turbo), neither of them are as reliable as the land cruiser was....
Absolutely gorgeous truck and solid, well-proven mods. Toyota trucks look just right, meant-to-be, with mild lifts and slightly taller section tires. Where you fail, Hoovie, is the always constant self-degradation. It's not funny or sheepish anymore. Grow a pair, this is great content.
My 1987 Toyota pick up was stolen by crackheads two years ago. I'd just put a radiator, new tires, an ignition ignitor ($600), new battery, oil change, it only had two hundred twenty thousand barely broke in. Anyway, I found a 2002 Tacoma with everything the '87 didn't such as AC, cruise control, locking diff., extended cab, lower miles (only eighty thou), a really nice and working sound system just a really damn nice truck. These trucks are just fantastic like the one in the video too.
Just bought a 94 land cruiser for $300 dollars its runs and drives perfect diff lock works front and rear and a/c works the issues it has is it needs tires, and a paint job due to clear coat also needs a front bumper no body damage at all.
Get the Kmar rear step with spare wheel career and tow hitch, it'll finish off and look great. Hint disconnect the power radio antenna and mount a fibreglass whip aerial on the ARB bullbar. It will save plenty in replacing broken Toyota electric aerials after going bush and forgetting to lower the factory antenna. Enjoy the off-road fun
Hoovie, got to tell you and everyone, I was impressed with how well it turned out. But, the snorkel, hum???.....at least you didn't go under water with it! Lol. Going off road with? I am not thinking it's going to be a great looker at the mall! 🤣
0:25 can you use more indiscriminate hand gestures while you talk in the next video. I am glad you kept pointing to the landcruiser or I would have had no idea what you were referring to. Also, why do you keep calling it a rig?
With $9000 you spend on this old lady you could’ve bought a nice one with half the miles and 10 years younger including a mail order bride from the Philippines!!!
The smaller Land Cruiser (US model GX470) is also an awesome rig with incredible build quality. I've owned two, and my current 2008 has been ultra reliable and doesn't have a squeak or rattle and runs smooth as new.
Bring that thing out to Fj Summit this July. It’s in the San Juan mountains around Ouray, CO .... i promise you won’t be disappointed! Come play with us.
I used to go through slightly easier terrain in my 2007 Camry delivering crap in the boonies! I stopped because I knew it was going to kill my car. Good video!
That’s not a locking differential, it’s a locking transfer case. Pretty much all older Toyota trucks lock the transfer case when you shift to 4wd. Newer you can select to lock it or leave it open (so you can drive on paved road in 4wd)
I got a 1994 with 170,000 miles for 5,500 with an arb bull bar, brand new bf goodrich all terrains and super clean interior. It needed 1,200 in repairs for a/c and vacuum leak but its been solid since.
Snorkel is totally unnecessary, unless you are driving through mud/water deeper than the air intake. My son has a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 with a snorkel, but he uses it on gas pipeline construction projects. It was installed after he succeeded in getting water into the air intake, so it really is a useful addition for him. He's had 8 inches of mud inside. And then there's the issue of needing to drain and change the transfer case and differentials in case you got water in them. Nice build, but what I saw looked like a poster abusing a really nice vehicle.
I drive a 2002 Land Cruiser, with only 170,000kms... Its been used regularly by both my parents since it was new. Still going strong, now my dad has a 2016 Land cruiser. We only get the diesel models here though, mine has the turbo I6, his has the newer V8, we also get the fully specked VXR models, with the hydraulic suspension.
That vehicle is worth more than $10,000 with all those mods, and what it's capable of exceeds just about anything else you could buy for that price, not to mention its longevity will pay for itself. Going down the trails nobody else can tackle is exactly what LC's were designed for. Good choice.
While driving though there I’m surprised you didn’t find any stolen Mercedes ML’s

11:00 any regular old corolla can complete that trail, just because it's a tight squeeze doesn't mean you're offroading, you're just damaging your car
"This is my Lexus LX 470..." sounds like a familiar intro
Sounds alot like Doug..
Anything else done to the rig maintenance wise? I bought a 98 land cruiser at 290k miles. And here’s what I’ve done so far:
Valve cover gasket
Diff fluid change, front, center, rear
Starter, alternator, ignition rod
Timing belt, water pump
Lube drive shaft
Transmission fluid
.... and counting. But just wow, a lot of work and maintenance.
the snorkel is a sweeet touch
Omg 2100usd in pakistan its price is 75000$ dolloar 75thousand usd in 2018
2100usd is 210,000 in jamaican dollars
Absolutely gorgeous truck and solid, well-proven mods. Toyota trucks look just right, meant-to-be, with mild lifts and slightly taller section tires. Where you fail, Hoovie, is the always constant self-degradation. It's not funny or sheepish anymore. Grow a pair, this is great content.
In Europe we say: "The toughest 4x4 You have, the further the tractor has to go to pull You out". :)
Thats why you get a unimog and its THE tractor
My 1987 Toyota pick up was stolen by crackheads two years ago. I'd just put a radiator, new tires, an ignition ignitor ($600), new battery, oil change, it only had two hundred twenty thousand barely broke in. Anyway, I found a 2002 Tacoma with everything the '87 didn't such as AC, cruise control, locking diff., extended cab, lower miles (only eighty thou), a really nice and working sound system just a really damn nice truck. These trucks are just fantastic like the one in the video too.
Looks real Aussie spec now! Especially with the ARB bar... It's identical to my neighbour's LX470 but his bar is body colour
Just bought a 94 land cruiser for $300 dollars its runs and drives perfect diff lock works front and rear and a/c works the issues it has is it needs tires, and a paint job due to clear coat also needs a front bumper no body damage at all.
What is wrong with you, you mad lad
So that thing has both an automatic shifter and a manual shifter? 4:08
Hello from Portugal!
TheNeonGuy bom día?
TheNeonGuy portugal caralho!
TheNeonGuy goodbye from Zimbabwe
Get the Kmar rear step with spare wheel career and tow hitch, it'll finish off and look great. Hint disconnect the power radio antenna and mount a fibreglass whip aerial on the ARB bullbar. It will save plenty in replacing broken Toyota electric aerials after going bush and forgetting to lower the factory antenna. Enjoy the off-road fun
Close your eyes from 10:58
Oliver Lowe lmao
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha
You did what every single guy on the planet wants to do, but never does! Awesome!
*_you bought a Lexus and you called it Toyota Land Cruiser? Are you high?_*
He's a loco...
It is a land cruiser......are you high?
@@tgwoolshire land cruiser has a different front on it.its a lexus
@@peterbarber7613 ITS A TOYOTA!!!!!
@@tgwoolshire ok might be a Toyota over there, but it would be a lexus in Australia + its a lexus anywhere
Hoovie, got to tell you and everyone, I was impressed with how well it turned out. But, the snorkel, hum???.....at least you didn't go under water with it! Lol. Going off road with? I am not thinking it's going to be a great looker at the mall! 🤣
Easy sell for $15000
Stepheon Coles with 350k miles? Lol maybe with 200k.
Stepheon Coles
I don't think he would get $15k for it but he could probably sell it for $10k and make all his money back pretty easily.
0:25 can you use more indiscriminate hand gestures while you talk in the next video. I am glad you kept pointing to the landcruiser or I would have had no idea what you were referring to. Also, why do you keep calling it a rig?
i would have fixed the tailgate & interior & been done with it
You always give me a good laugh after a long day at work. Keep up the awesome videos.
Remove snorkel
Bring that thing out to Fj Summit this July. It’s in the San Juan mountains around Ouray, CO .... i promise you won’t be disappointed! Come play with us.
I’ll buy it for 10,000
I used to go through slightly easier terrain in my 2007 Camry delivering crap in the boonies!
Hoovie be like a high school student taking his mom's suburban off road...
They're really comfortable on long drives and amazing off roading. I love the cushiony tires on this.
Got my 95 FZJ80 for $500 love it always and forever. Good job!
