As much as i enjoy this early Su-solo version of "tatoo" with Su- freestyling the choreo, the fully Mikiko-choreographed version of Kagerou that came later with the triangle formation and the kamiband intro is truly great.
This was in 2018, Babymetal's Darkside era, in which they experimented with new lore, darker and more mature costumes, and different dance formations. Yui had last performed with them in 2017 and the Avengers support dancer system wasn't introduced until 2019. Through much of 2018, they utilized a four-person dance formation with two support dancers in the back affectionately dubbed Muscle Metal by fans. For Dark Night Carnival in October, they even had five- and seven-person formations. But by December at Good Things Festival, they had returned to a three-person dance formation with Saya Hirai filling the third spot as a support dancer. Saya did not go on to be one of the Avengers. This song was never officially called Tattoo. That was just the working title spotted on a setlist, which is why the festival (Rock am Ring in Germany) displayed it as "Untitled." It was later released on their third album, Metal Galaxy, in 2019 as Kagerou. We don't know why it was performed by Su alone during the 2018 tour, but my guess is it had something to do with Yui's absence. The band went on tour in 2018 not knowing when or if Yui would return. She officially announced her departure in October 2018. Maybe they had designed three-person dance choreography for the song but hadn't had time to redesign it for a four-person formation? I don't think Kagerou was ever intended to be a Su solo.
⚡ 💕 / 🌡 🔥 The footage (with the "remastered" audio) was from Rock am Ring in 2018, held in Nürburg, Germany. The song was never titled 'Tattoo'. That was a temporary name spotted on their setlists before it got an official name. Probably referring to the drum beat. 'Kagerou' is usually translated as heat wave. Also, those High Amazonian Elven costumes were fire. : ) There's not usually a lot of choreography with Su's solo songs. Of course this one is even better with the Western Kami Band intro, and MIKIKO's choreography for three members.
"that chick flew all the way from Japan" Yeah, her dad and her used to go to EACH show in the US and Europe. We got some euh... regulars among the fans. 🙂
@@j-swagjr yeah, such fans get kind of 'famous' among other big fans, at one show she was crowd surfing and she was kind of dropped on just me by accident because somehow a hole in the audience got created after a moshpit moved or ended or something. So glad I didn't drop her by accident !!
All I know is that Su mentioned in a radio interview way back that she was interested in Egypt. That might be why we've seen some Egyptian inspiration throughout the years, like this outfit and the anubian foxes.
Interesting choice of Kagerou , this was back in 2018 when it was a su metal solo called tattoo by fans. There are 2 recommended performances you could check out. The first being the 2019 forum version , and the second being the 2024 legend mm version with both moa and momo doing back up vocals instead. Both versions include kami band intros and the reason why Anthony barone could rival hideki as the God of drums 😂🦊🤘
Also about the outfits , they were meant to reflect the dark side of babymetal which lasted throughout 2018. This was back when the band were introducing the chosen 7. If you think she looks odd now , you should checkout what they looked like for the dark night carnival 😂😂😂
This may have be written (by Yuyoyuppe) as a Su solo song, because Su was the most vocal about stepping out of their Kawaii image. She was older than the others and it has a more mature sound to it. BBAB always felt like it was supposed to be a Black Babymetal song to me, but Moa didn't want to sing solo songs (she said so) so they stopped doing any solos...for now. Tattoo/Kagerou would have made a better single than Starlight IMO.
The song title ‘Kagerou’ is written in Japanese katakana, 'カゲロウ'. The Japanese for your video title is ‘タトゥー’ in katakana. This means ‘tattoo’ and the song had been called by this name, before recorded on the third album.
6:09 sadly, I think maybe the reason he did that is because he had tendonitis in his arm that leg of the tour, he even posted on social media about him having it in a bucket of ice water. 😞
This is from Rock am Ring Festival in 2018. Festival audios are always not that good. The song was debuted live earlier that year during tour and had no official title, during that time the fans calls it "tattoo". The song was released later in 2019. The song was originally meant to be a Su solo but later became a full Babymetal song. In term of the outfits, it's them changing into a new lore called "The Darkside" hence the different outfit, showing their more mature side. It's also the first tour without Yui while she was on hiatus due to health issue. Her official departure came later that year. The whole tour was a formation experiment with only Su and Moa with two other backup dancers. That's probably the main reason why the song later became full song, because usually if there's a new Su solo, there's new Black Babymetal song too. But since Yui left, they can't do Black Babymetal, which also affected Su solos. Anyway, can't wait for more! 🦊🦊🦊
Yeah, poor audio, not sure what that was about as it definitely didn't seem like some sort of fan-cam? I don't know why but I heard somewhere that this costume was supposed to give a elfish princess look? FYI: There is a great performance of this song with a Kami Band intro: Kagerou (Legend MM 2024 Live) Eng Subs on the Fox God channel.
I happen to think this era's outfits were some where moa looked the most beautiful. Her long hair suits her but I can definitely get behind her pig tails anytime lol
At this time BM was a little lost due to the departure of long time member and fan favorite Yui, and was operating as a duo. There is a much more recent better version from 2024 with more classic dress and Momo now onboard as the third member.
Let's do like 2018 never existed... 😁 Those headbands and makeup... just... no... Better do "Kagerou" with the kami intro from Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 or Legend-MM 2024. 🤘🦊
Prick. The headbands and makeup, including the entire costume design was awesome. You’re a very picky person, just as everyone else in this comment section. 👎

Happy birthday to our forever queen SuMetal.🦊🤘👸
Happy birthday Su!!
Interesting fact: at 4.45 of this video, the vocalist of the Russian metal band "Slot" or "Слот" is shown in the crowd
I actually like this outfit lol not as a permanent one but just as a one off type deal is cool.
Happy Birthday SuQueen
Happy birthday to Her Alloyed Majesty.

Takayoshi using Mikio guitar.. so good
This is the Su solo version that will never be played again.

The point was to pick one with Su soloing it for her birthday. He ll do the other ones later

That costume is OK. But the hair style is suitable for Su-metal but not Moametal. Because there are no pigtails. Thanks for your great reaction.

You probably need to get a more modern look at Kagerou - it changed quite a bit and has a wonderful intro usually.
Ok, but have you ever seen BABYMETAL with 5 members? More precisely with 3 avengers! ua-cam.com/video/wEKchG2nlAU/v-deo.htmlsi=jzj1K6D63Q1p_7MI

Why would you do this to Su on her birthday?
Worse reaction ive seen you do dude. Hung up on outfits, really. Sorry but wow.
Well, just call it "Tatterou" 😉

That's not when Su was soloing it though. Thats the whole point since it's her birthday lol he ll check out the other versions later
