I don't know whether I am biased but all I heard was Sehwag is a majestic player and handled Murali well, but come on, LARA was that DAMN GOOD. He literally carried his team against Lanka. LARA is a one of the GREATS.
On a separate not the comment section does not mention enough of LARA, but he is VERY VERY Good.
The aura of Sehwag was simply amazing, its astonishing how quickly he could change the game, people call him very aggressive as a batsman but the truth is he only took calculated risks, its just that his defence was very underrated
His defence was lame. He was luck he wasn't playing in the 90s against real swing bowlers. He didn't have an aura like Tendulkar btw

Murali don't need to fear sachin tendulkar. Because Most probably he got out for chaminda vass in fisrt 6 7 overs. I think over 10 times sachin got out for chaminda vass and he given 3 catches in an over against chaminda vass.
And yet Managed test batting Avg above 60 vs SL in such a long career..

@@dipak1201 Tendulkar is a great batsman. What i told is "He has got out for chaminda vass for over 10 times". I don't tell, he is not good batsman or he weak against sri lanka. Actually You don't need to prove that he is great batsman. because i knew it and i didn't argue it.
I'm a Sachin fan but it's right that he had an issue with the incoming ball like most batsmen. He had issues against Vaas, Saqlain Mushtaq and to a lesser extent Shoaib Akhtar. Most he was uncomfortable against McGrath and statistically Anderson. But he was largely great against most others.
Murli is absolutely spot on Dhoni came up the order to protect yuvi from murli

Off spinners except murli
If there was one guy who could change a game quickly, it has to be Virender Sehwag. Its crazy how he could turn the game. Single handedly changed Indian test cricket the way he batted. And Lara is pure class. Loved his stance, the follow through and the flare.
One of the greatest spinner ..... Murali is very humble and decent person ...we Indian loved and appreciated you
Lara was the best against spinners be it Warne, Murali, or Mcgill. Tendulkar fared better against pace. Viru didn't give a fuck whether it was pace or spin or if he was the best or second best. He simply whipped everyone.

Loved the way Murali spoke of Lara!!!!! Love this man. So humble.
In Asia, India has been always blessed with great batsmen.
Pakistan: Great Bowlers
Srilanka: They covered every department till 2015
After that, the team has degraded.
Hope their cricket will rise again.
Bcoz as an Indian, we miss that old Pakistan and Srilankan squad which were too deadly for any team.
Sri Lanka every department? Seriously. They never had a proper bowling attack. Vaas and Murali were carrying their bowling attack. After they retired in 2009 and 2011 (Murali retired from Tests in 2010) respectively, it was Herath in the Test format and Malinga in ODIs and T20s. India on the other hand, had a better bowling attack. Zaheer Khan, Kumble, Harbhajan, Ashwin, Ishant, Ajit Agarkar. ( I didn't include Bumrah, Shami, Umesh, Bhuvi as you said only till 2015)

2)If you need a batsman who build up the innings after 1st wicket down and played till 10th wicket you have kumar sangakarra with 11 double centuries and 57 test average and 28000 international runs.(there is no need to talk about his skill in wicket keeping)
3.If you need a batsman who play the game with master mind to steady the batting line up
strong, you have mahela jayawardene with 25000 international runs ( currently the head coach of most successful ipl team mumbai indians )
4)If you play in a chasing match chase the target and finish the game with very confidence you have aravinda de sliva one of the best finishers in the world who scored a brilliant century in 1996 world cup final against mighty australia .its only one example .
5)If you want a captain who maintains good relation between team members and get maximum contribution from them to win the matches .
6) If you want a bowler ,chaminda vaas( 700+international wickets ) is there to cripple the batsmans in the first overs and reducing there run rate.
7)lasith malinga is there to terrorize the batsman in the final overs at crucial times and make the batsman helpless with his yorker throughout the match.
8)It is difficult to say with a comment .In short, you have Muttiah Muralitharan (1347 wickets ),the best bowler in the world who can be used at any time of the match.

Sehwag in Galle 2008 was sensational. He reserved special treatment for Ajantha Mendis who had kinda embarrassed the Indian batting unit in the series and in the Asia Cup final a year earlier. The only other time I've seen a batter deflate Murali to that extent in Sri Lanka is Lara.
Brian Lara in that series scored 688 runs. 688 in a series that West Indies lost 3-0. In a series where Vaas was lethal - between them they took 48 out of the possible 60 wickets available in that series. Just remembering what Lara did to Murali in that series still leaves me in awe.

What a perception to bat against a Slow Bowler irrespective of being able to read the bowlers hand..
Come to the pitch of the ball, hit him with the full face of the bat with full conviction, either timing it for a shot along the ground or over the top, placement should be in mind too.

Not sure what population has to do with skill. There is nothing to indicate that cricket skill is distributed evenly among all population.
@Niyomal Dias competition doesn't determine skill. Sure it can help in development but natural talent, facilities, opportunities, money is what matters. New Zealand with a tiny pool of cricketers is the best team currently.
@Niyomal Dias then what it has to do with Muralidharan being handled well by Indian players....why does this line make you think about entire SL team...SL team was no doubt very good at that time...why are doubting it yourself when no one said anything about your team...

Simple fact.
Remember the game Sehwag scored 201* in a score of 329 vs against SL attack of Mendis, Muttiah, Kulasekkara and Vaas in 2008

Shewag is a special rare player. No Indian batsman ever can replace him. I still remember I didn't like viru to be out even though I'm a Sri Lankan. Because after he got out, the game becomes definitely boring to watch.
Murali was correct sachin didn't like off spinners but didn't got out many times. He even smashed saqlain at his best. Lara didn't have great record against kumble also never troubled Warne. I think it's easy to hit when ball turning away from you as you can free your arms but when it comes in its not easy to hit as if you miss you lose the stumps.

But you got to watch a few more matches than just a few matches to see for yourself that Sachin was almost never uncomfortable against Saqlain, Saeed or a majority of wrist or finger spinners or pacers. In fact Sachin had decoded Murli's Doosra. Listen to Sehwag how Sachin taught him to play Murli. Sachin practically had no weakness. He fumbled a few times. Got dismissed a few times due to wrong shot selection. But making and error and being weak are two different things.
