This provides me some insight on why BMW's have a reputation for being so expensive to fix. Two mechanics over 10 minutes just to get the tank off. And this is the "retro classic." Great video but it has me reconsidering one of these bikes.
Excellent how to video...these videos are going to be revisited so many times by owners, so helpful! How annoying is it when you start talking a tank off and realise its full of fuel and weighs a ton!! Cheers, Steve
Great video- easy to follow and provided all the information I needed to confidently and safely change the battery. Some other clips show removing the tank with the breather pipes attached which is problematic with newer models with a filter - following the method shown in this clip (removing the breather pipes at the tank) works for all models.
Fabulous how to video...even this girl managed to do it just as you show, very easy xx.......question is, do you have a video on how to reverse the process? 😅
Excellent how-to video. When you said the key dresser over the ignition barrel was finicky you weren't kidding! I was about ready to take a blow torch to it. lol Even built my own tank brace even though yours is much nicer (BTW, do you sell those?) . I didn't have to remove the tank since I was just upgrading the front turn signals. Outstanding learning experience.
Just come across you vUA-cam, fantastic! regarding the tank removal, I've watched yours and others, no one mentions if your empty the tank first and if so the best way to do it, thanks, I'll be watching from now on just about to get a 2017 Scrambler x.
great minds think alike .I was thinking the last time I took off my tank I would make a support like the one shown.i just haven't workout the centres yet. looks about 200 mill?
I just want to access the battery terminals rather than replace the battery - it would be good to have an annotated version that shows how to do this without taking the tank off entirely.
@ 4:10 ish why didn't the camera get taken around to the right hand side so we could see what was being undone?

ikr, it's absurd 😄Even on a ducati monster 2016 you just remove the seat and unscrew one screw, done, just pull the tank out.

Haha, totally. We often get people arrive at the workshop having just fueled their bike to the brim thinking it would be helping us for roadtests etc.
Great tutorial with a couple of smoothly negotiated tongue twisters!
Cheers, Jules. You know we love to talk!

Brilliant! Thanks for the kind words! Glad you were able to make use of the tutorial.
This is a great video. You guys should do a video on how to install a RPM gauge on a Urban gs or a pure.

An excellent tutorial & very well explained thank you.

Hi Andy. The best way is to use a fuel bowser, unfortunately. Failing that, an old fashioned siphon is probably best.
Excellent video, but can you elaborate on how to make sure fuel does not spill when removing the fuel lines. Thanks.
The fuel lines are quick release lines so they will close automatically once they have been unclipped.
Great tutorial guys and very timey for my next upgrade. Think you might do an ABR vid?
We will, but only once we can book out two solid days in the workshop to record one. We're hoping for September.
Great video. Thanks! Do you actually have to completely remove the gas tank to replace the battery?
Yes sir!
Im in the market of one of these bikes. Do you recommend 2014-2017 or newer?

Thank you for watching.

Hi Alf. Ours come in at 240mm centre to centre.
You asked the question for me...Nice one
Do you sell that tank prop bracket?

Hey guys thanks for this. I’m planning to install a Booster plug on my 19 R nineT. Any idea of it works as advertised?
Hello! We would tend to default to the Rapid Bike range for anything like this, the Rapid Bike EASY works well as a Booster plug.
How many hours would a workshop charge for this? Great video but it’s just not going to happen for me!!
Removing the tank tanks around 5-10 minutes
Hi guys, what product would you suggest for lubricating the bolts? Or is it just a matter of cleaning them with a paper towel? Cheers!
We don't lube any bolts.
how long is that support bracket you made to keep the tank up?
240mm between hole centres.

Good but would prefer video of the bile parts rather than the mechanic !
Yeah totally agree, we could all use a little less Stu in our lives....
Why filming his face when he is pointing at what to do ?! Could be perfect but as is .. useless.
Stu done his hair that day, so we thought we'd make the most of it before he goes bald.
Will fuel run out when you remove the pipes?
Did you find out ?
Did you get answer to this?
@ramsroyale the clip/fitting is like a valve. You can remove pipes with fuel in the tank
