I just installed the Lemon HHC12 with my TD-17 module. Works great! I used the settings in this video and didn't feel the need to do the test tone detail. It also works just out of the box. Install per the instruction and you are set. As others have pointed out (here or elsewhere), the kit now includes an extra thicker washer that solves the problem.
I'm really glad they've fixed the issues. I am currently playing lemon's 14" hi hat, and it all performs wonderfully out of the box. Thanks for watching!
Cool video, one note: If you turn up the retrig cancel, you can turn down threshold which will allow you to play really soft strokes while avoiding double triggering.
Great video, thanks for the non hi-hat tone test idea. I never thought of trying this when setting my hihat settings. I may try this on my crashes to try and smooth out the cymbal swells on the Alesis Strike.
I got these to work on a TD-11. I definitely had to used some of your mods to get it to work- thanks! There is only one isse now- the hihat completely open sound kicks in a bit late. I think that it due to my lifht weight hihat stand. The top higat cymbal is pretty heavy and the dpring is pretty weak so opening the higat is dluggish. I'm hoping that using these on a hihat stand that has adjustable pedal tension will help.
How are they holding up on the TD-11 so far? I also have a TD-11 and I know these technically aren't supposed to be compatible, but if I'm going to upgrade my hi-hat I'd love to go with the 2-piece if I can make it work!
Hi Brady, Great video quick question, based on your settings that work with the built in Roland sounds have you or do you midi out to a DAW eg logic and use the plugin sounds? if so does the hi hat still respond the same? Cheers Nick
As always thanks for your videos. I just got my hihat unit and so far pretty good. I am getting some double triggering with edge strikes. I can’t make it happen all the time. It’s infrequent but I’ll have to work on settings. Maybe scan time needs to be lowered or maybe threshold is off. If you have any tips on the edge strike double triggering it would be great to hear your ideas. Thanks as always
This video should help. I know Lemon has updated some parts since i made this, so let me know if you have questions. ua-cam.com/video/nAhxBb_OEcI/v-deo.htmlsi=BoECFxQDnm5Xskvl
Awesome video. I just got my lemon hi hat. When i try the edge and bow sounds like you i can hear a mix of edge and bow sounds at the rim. May i know if theres a fix for this ?
I purchased this HiHat recently and I noticed that you did not use the black rubber washer that came with the kit. The washer goes on after you place the bottom cymbal plate on so it sits on top of the bottom plate plunger. This gives you just enough height to fully compress the bottom plate plunger when you step on the pedal. You migt try that in lieu of using the fix you applied to your top cymbal plate connecton rather than using the parts you were provided with the cymbal. I assume you received the rubber washer in your kit? I had two with mine, but it could have been something that was added after the fact in newer kits....I would imagine that this would also eliminate any extra noise you get when the plunger is hit by the bottom of the metal "no twist" adapter on the top pad...this rubber gasket is shown on Step 3 of the directions that came with the kit as well.
I also noticed this. I have that kit (Lemon TD950) and I did get the rubber washer with the hats. Now I want to upgrade the module to the TD17. Based on your review with a little bit of work you can get it to sound almost perfectly
One more question if you are able. I just got the td17 Kv Bluetooth. Is it possible for this to work with that? I bought all the lemon stuff but opted out on their module.
The Bluetooth model only allows you to stream music into the TD17 from an outside source (like your phone) via Bluetooth. It’ll have no effect on the pads, cymbals, or anything else. You’re good to go. Be sure to let us know how you like the t950 when you get it set up and dialed in!
In this video you’ll see the Roland RT-30HR. I like its response and don’t have much bad to say about it, but I did convert this drum to an internal trigger recently.
@@myfavoritedrumgear I had an rt30. Could never get it triggering properly. Ended up using a Convertible Percussions dual zone for my snare. Works really well on my td20. Positional sensing works too.
Hi Brady, I just got my Lemon two piece hats (the newest version with the fixes) and I can't seem to get the volume up on them, if that makes sense. They sound like they are way low in the total mix. Do you know what could be the cause of this? I have checked the pads settings and levels, and theres nothing out of the ordinary.
First thing would be to go into your pad settings and ensure both that it’s set to the right pad (VH) and that a hard hit registers 127. If that’s happening then it’s probably not a sensitivity issue. Check both the top cymbal pad and your open/close foot pedal. Next check the levels of the hats and make sure they’re not turned down. If you still have an issue, take the top hat off and swap it with a crash cymbal and see how it responds.
@@myfavoritedrumgear I feel so stupid...I just checked the assign menu real quick and it was set to some BRUSH hi-hat!..Changed it and it behaved as normal right away. Thanks for answering.
TD17. I presumed that being Roland, it would be compatible. I’ve done everything you did with the Lemon, but no success. (And by the way, thank-you for your very informative videos🙏).
If you watch my “fix video” for the other lemon hi hat, you’ll see that using a hi hat washer fixed the play in both versions. I’m told that the hi hats now ship with an updated clutch assembly that fixes the issue altogether. I hope to get ahold of one of the new ones in the not too distant future, and I’ll have an update video if so.
??? the TD-17-kvx has 2 piece hats already. The VH-10 and VH-11 both work on that module and both are 2 piece hats. You just cant use the later VH models on the TD-17 module. So, 2 piece hats always worked on the td-17, just not all of the hats. Lemon is just a cheaper version of the ones Roland already makes for that module.
they are not true hi hat tops and bottom as the bottom is just a plunger. unline the vh12 or the above. Both have full bottom cymbals. Theres a huge difference in the way the true 2 piece plays compared to the vh11 or vh10.

Great troubleshooting and thinking out of the box. Just started replacing my TD17kv cymbals with Lemon. Glad I found this.

That’s a great tip! Thank you.
Nice @Tom what retrig cancel and threshold did you land on?

Thank you.
Just thought I messed up getting a td17. Just got a full lemon t950. And got nervous I wouldn’t be able to make it work.

I assume this will also work on the td-17kv2 right?
really useful info here ! thank you
Nice love it. Do you think it could work with the td 25??
I think it would. Just make sure you set up the physical pads correctly, then adjust your module settings.

What module are you using?
The TD-17. I did adjust the scan and mask time slightly and got it fixed.
How do you calibrate the Lemon VH10 for the TD17?

Will this work on a td-07 module?
Awesome! Do you know if these hihats will work with a VAD103 module? Cheers!
It should. The TD07 is compatible with VH1 and VH11 hats, so these should work with your kit. Thanks for watching!
