    Hello! I have a TD11KV and tried to split "Tom 1" cable to use two tom pads. But, in one of the pads, I only get signal/sound when hitting the rim area. I can select different sounds for the head and rim hits, but don´t know how to make both pads work in the head area. Can you help me with this, please??

    Very nice review. I just recently bought my very first Lemon cymbals (Two Lemon LE-9C2 9" Dual Zone Splash Cymbals). I have them hooked up to an eDrumin 10 using Superior Drummer 3. (My kit originally started out as a Roland TD-17 KVX2.) While I can't vouch for how long they will last since I have only had them set up for about a week but so far, I have been pretty impressed! Hopefully this doesn't sound like a sales pitch, but I purchased the cymbals through e-Drumcenter, and didn't have to pay the crazy shipping costs nor wait a long time if bought through Alibaba. And as a bonus, I also got free shipping and a two-year warranty to boot! *RANT* Regarding the Roland clamps, I absolutely HATE having to disassemble portions of the rack just to add a clamp to hold a pad or cymbal. I really wish Roland would get their shit wired and quit making things difficult in order for them to save a buck and charge the customer more bucks and would have been nothing for them to use the type of clamp that Lemon included in the expansion kit you reviewed. I am glad to see more competition in the eDrum market. *END RANT*

    • @myfavoritedrumgear
      @myfavoritedrumgear 10 днів тому

      Thanks for watching. the lemon clamps could be just a touch easier to use if they put the wingnut on a hinge like a lot of the gibraltar hardware uses, but they are still so much easier than the roland for the exact reason you mentioned.

    Thank you for the review. I have the pro version. I still need to install it on my Porter & Davies seat. But the Porter & Davies seat has a metal plate and I cannot just drill the screws through the metal plate. So I will need to take the metal plate off to see where I can drill the holes. And the metal plate is directly screwed in to the wood of the seat and this is not designed to be taken of multiple times. How do I know? I needed to to take of the metal plate to install the hydraulic part of my Pearl D-1500RGL Roadster seat onto the Porter & Davies seat. And that’s why I also know that I cannot just drill holes into the metal plate. Furthermore I will need to use bolts, nuts and blue loctite instead of screws. As these are not included, I will,l need purchase them. So installing on a Porter & Davies seat is not so straightforward.

  • @amberwolf80
    @amberwolf80 Місяць тому

    I just got one of these a few days ago, and the one I got appears to have some improvements. The center is now a much harder plastic or rubber (similar to Roland) than the floppy rubber yours appears to have, and the metal anti rotation stopper is also now basically the same size as the plastic ones that come with most e-cymbals. I had to use a Dremel and a sanding band to widen the top of it, though, because my hi hat clutch (Gibraltar 5707) wouldn’t fit all the way through. I also initially tried your hack to bypass the stopper issue, but the cymbal would still rotate no matter how tight I made it. But all seems well now, and I appreciate your review. Just an FYI for anyone else that might get one, and run into the same issue.

    This review is very well done and made me try the Lemon 15" crash/ride (using as a crash) and the 15" china. So props for the high-quality content that literally proves the value of influencers and reviewers such as yourself, both to the community and to these brands. My experience has been that both cymbals are usable, but there are very obvious quality differences between the Lemon and Roland variants. The Lemon crash is MUCH louder in the room and feels a bit like hitting a heavy plastic trash can lid. The feel of striking the edge hard is immediately evident on my arthritic joints than on the Rolands. It's a night and day difference, although one that younger hands may not even notice. While I returned the 15" crash/ride, I kept the china. It's 15.4" across, is shaped like a china cymbal, and because of the shape they added a lot more thicker rubber to the contact point. This made it quieter (although still louder than the Rolands) and reduces the impact feel significantly. It'll be interesting to see if if it holds up.

    I just purchased & set this up last night. I'm in Canada where everything is really expensive because of currency exchange and shipping. My cost on the Buttkicker Pro was $587.00 CDN. including tax. No shipping as I picked it up. The vendor suggested saving about $100 on the Plus version instead of the Pro but I figured I'd get the version with the stronger amp to be safe with some more head room. There's no way I could justify spending about $2K on a P&D throne to get it here even though these days, I'm gigging only electronic. I'd love to try one but that's not going to happen. With my setup I'm using a Pearl Mimic Pro module. I routed my kick and 2 floor toms all to a single direct out. I did as @baorozzo mentioned and moved the shaker right up to the base of the seat. That made some difference in intensity for sure. Dialing it in, I turned the floor toms down in the direct out mixer as they were shaking the crap out of me (not literally). Your tip on switching to mono was golden by the way. Last night I kept turning it on playing, turning it off playing.... unbelievable difference in the experience. It does what I expected and the accuracy for me was great. My one question was on getting the crossover to work the way I envisioned it would. At one point I ran the snare drum through the same output and cranked the crossover way up. I couldn't get it to pick up. Not an issue though, just an experiment. I would also have preferred they used a finished end cable to connect the shaker to the amp like the P&D setup. I don't really like the 2 connection point solution they use on it. 2 gigs this weekend. Can't wait to run it through it's paces. As usual your reviews are exactly what everyone needs. No B.S. and full of great personal experience info. Please keep it up. thanks

      Using a trigger alone doesn't work, as the trigger sends an electrical signal and not a frequency. You'd need to run the trigger into a module of some sort to create a sound with a low frequency, then send it to the Gamer Pro amp. Thanks for watching!

    I use a $50 buttkicker just screwed under the wooder plate of my throne and an old subwoofer amp. It's not that fancy but works fine. The amp has a LPF available but since a use different outputs on my audio interface I separate the low frequencies in the DAW where the VST drumming happens.

    I have both the throne thumper and the porter & davies. They are not really the same. They do the same function, but they give a really different feeling. While the TT can give you the feeling on your butt, the power it have and the way the P&D is made can make your head shake because the vibrations run through the spine. It’s like a more precise vibration. I felt I was going stupid when I pushed it a little harder than needed, because my brain was shaking. I partially reduced the gap between the TT and the P&D by mounting the TT shaker upside down and all the way up against the lower part of the throne seat. Basically I tried to augment the transmitted vibrations to the seat. I love my P&D but it’s really really expensive. I bought it used from the uk to save some money. The TT was expensive too; I bought it used too, it was a B-Stock. Way cheaper but the feeling is also way cheaper.

    • @ledhed5717
      @ledhed5717 2 місяці тому

      Yep, I agree. Feeling your butt vibrate is different than actually “hearing it” in your head like the P&D. I would much rather hear it. The butt shaking is almost annoying to me.

    • @myfavoritedrumgear

      There’s no ambient sounds with the electronic drums since it’s a direct input from the module. I have my acoustic drums about 8-10ft away from my furnace, and my bass drum mic (while admittedly not the highest quality) picks up no sound from the furnace and therefore sends no unwanted vibration to the transducer. Thx for a great video. I just bought used e-drums and it has added pads and symbals, but don't quite understand this splitting thing. Now I do! Thanks dude!

    Great review.. looks like u will be getting the lemon t 950 soon happy for you that u reached 1000 plus subs!! Congrats, and keep up the great work. I'm going to attempt to make a diy butt kicker, from a tactile transducer and a nobsound amp. Hoping it works, waiting on parts . Oh one question, are these pads serviceable by the user? Ei , can u change out the piezo if needed? Thanks again have a great day

      Thanks for watching! I'm actually working on a Buttkicker video right now, and having a great time. You'll see at the end of the video when i remove the rim, you could change the switch pickup if needed, though getting the rim back on was a bit of a pain. To access the head pickup, you'd need to remove the rim, then remove the pad from the underside, which i think is glued down, so i'm not sure that's a great idea unless absolutely necessary.

      @myfavoritedrumgear Made my DIY butt kicker I used a Dayton TT 25 puck and a nobsound amp,in combination with a powered sub spent probably 50 bucks (ish) total for the transducer and amp,works pretty decent, can't feel it at lower volumes tho, i may buy a bigger transducer, but I just play for fun , so it definitely feels better. Edit .. been messing with it for about an hour or so now, got it where I like it now ,it depends on which kit my mod is on (I should have thought of that earlier) but I like it for sure.

    Affordable alternatives to Yamaha TCS pads? Do you have a Yamaha module to try these with? Curious whether the rim triggers correspond to rimshot / head / crossstick the way their XP pads do. Roland and Alesis get all the 3rd-party attention, but I'd love to know how these smart pads perform within the Yamaha ecosystem, on a DTXPro module.

      I do not have a yamaha module other than the EAD10. I very briefly tested the pads on the EAD10 and they triggered, though I couldn't get the signal split to head and rim, but that could be user error. I'll keep an eye out for a used yamaha module in the hopes that I can test future gear. Thanks for watching!

      @@myfavoritedrumgear Thanks! The reason I brought up the cheap alternative, is even if you dont have an acoustic kit that you want to deaden, these pads have utility as just extra pads to an electronic kit. Or replacements for black rubber toms with something close to a Yamaha XP80. I'd like to see all sizes in white, not just the snare. And of course - you need to mount them to a rack somehow.

    Why have larger pads when they are triggering devices.

    • @myfavoritedrumgear
      @myfavoritedrumgear 2 місяці тому

      The benefit is in the larger pads muting the existing acoustic drum sounds. just adding triggers to drums wouldn't make for a quieter practice space. Thanks for watching.

    great review..think you covered all the pros_ cons.. the bass drum pedal is a bit clunky and the distance issue isnt ideal...id prob just use as a 4piece...having to buy cymbal pads too pushes the price up....its a good idea just needs tweeking i think......thanks for some reason i was thinking of the Rtom mesh pads..im sure they could add a trigger to their product pretty easily.

    • @myfavoritedrumgear
      @myfavoritedrumgear 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching! the Rtoms do have a trigger than can be added, but the trigger only attaches to the Rtoms (not other drum heads or rims), and it's single zone. I will say that the folks at world drummers lowered the price of these pads by over $100 as a result of this video, so they are more affordable now.

    Can the rims be programmable?

    • @myfavoritedrumgear
      @myfavoritedrumgear 2 місяці тому

      Yes-the pads are 2 zone, so if your module supports programmable heads and rims (and most do), you can program the rims to any sound you'd like independent of the heads.
