This is like having a legit time machine. Unreal how immediate the memories and nostalgia hit
Oh my goodness! I used to love this...it came on in the mornings before school. I loved Goriddle Gorilla and Gary Gnu!
Man I wish I could go back to these times. I remember watching this show all the time. I even like the commercials, when us kids had to read, not look stuff up and a computer tells us stuff
You have never lied my friend. We had it good!!
@@hume7171 yes we did!
I used to watch this show every morning right before I would have to leave out to catch the school bus to school. Great memories
I used to love the show when I was a kid. Most people don't even remember it though.
+Jeffrey Dotson How do you know that?Maybe most people you know don't but it doesn't mean everyone.
MIKECNW I realized that my original reply was way too long and kind of confusing. Apologies. Anyway, to put it in less words, I do realize that it could just be most people I know, but I suspect not because relatively speaking, The Great Space Coaster videos have a lot less views than others despite having been posted more than a year ago. Another reason I suspect that this show slipped from most people's memory is because Sunbow, the producers of The Great Space Coaster, didn't do much to keep the reruns alive. They released one VHS tape and that was it which is too bad because this was a great show.
I feel the same way, Jeffrey! I used to LOVE this show!!! No one I know remembers it!
I love it
Jeffrey Dotson i do
I take my radio everywhere, and I don't care if people stare. I turn up my radio and let it play! LOL! classic!
This show is classic, makes me nostalgic...even better when your stoned.
Here I am 8 years later, with the same sentiment 😵💫😂
Thank you for posting these. You have no idea how much I loved this show. I wish they had all the episodes available to buy on DVD or Blu-ray.
Yeah, same...I still have the chunky VHS though!
so many memories of watching this when gettinghome from school. That show song has forever got stuck in my head
7:18 this knock knock bird sounds like Sheldon Cooper ranting today
Knock Knock looks like she could be Big Bird's grandma lol!
When kids shows were entertaining and not for brainwashing.
+vegabonzo73 I'm sure they had those as well.
vegabonzo73 I remember how popular the great space coaster was back in the fifth grade. We kids all watched it! I remember really enjoying the music.
Sesame Street did the brainwashing
Kevin Pippin You mean humor, the alphabet, numbers, friendship, love, etc?
You mean forcing kids to accept things which are meant for adults.
Gary Gnu was my favorite!!! No Gnews, is good Gnews, with Gary Gnu!!!
+elwin38 There is a Trivial Pursuit question that I encountered 10 years ago re: Gary Gnu. I'll always remember "No g-news is good g-news."
hahaha
I love that show and time period---Elwin38. It'll never be that good again.
I would really love to see Speed Reader come home from a run, pick up his mail, read one piece real fast, and drop dead of a heart attack, as it was a huge bill for everything he read for free on the news stand over the years with a threat of being sued into oblivion if he doesn't pay up.
I remember this from my childhood. Great memories for meand If I’m right GSC aired weekdays at 9am on WPIX New York on channel 11
8:00
@@alexanderwicker4473 I watched this show all the time when I was 8 and 9 years old before school started
I think for us it was KPTV 12 out of Portland, Oregon, way over on the other side of the state. If I remember right, we were actually usually all ready for school with plenty of time to spare when this came on, followed by Ramblin' Rod. Sometimes it was Big Blue Marble instead of Great Space Coaster though.
I used to watch this show in the mornings before school; approximately 40 years ago. Beautiful memories.♥️📚
and the commercials too!!! u are my new best friend!!!! Thank you
Yes. Love the commercials! All the commercials now a days are medical and lawyer related
I remember watching this show every morning before I went to school
Yes. Even in my jr high and high school years, it was practically a daily staple.
I love how the plot about Knock-Knock destroying the instruments and radio just stops midway through the show, and never gets a conclusion.
The Jam Box Era bridged the late 70s and early 80s. What a time to be a kid. Used to watch this mornings before 7th grade. Charlotte NC 1982
Oh you left in the commercials AWESOME!
I don need the fuxin commercials bruh
I remember watching this particular episode when it aired. The commercials could totally be the same ones I saw as well. This is great.
I always watch this during breakfast right before i go to school
I used to watch this every morning!
Omg I use to watch this show I totally forgot about this program 2nd grade was the best 😆☺️😆👌
This warms my heart forever. Today can't hold a candle.
Great memories from watching this show.
This and Pinwheel!!! lol
I love watching this show . & it's when USA was in it's infancy stage. I miss these times.
wow you even have the old commercials. I remember these commercials too :)
Great kid's program. Watched this every morning before going off to my sixth-grade class. Thanks for posting and allowing me to relive my youth.
OMG I remember Goriddle's radio song!!!
I remember watching this back in 1985, I was 8. Oh yeah, the 900 number thing. Kids check with your parents before you call. I didn't check and remember getting reamed by my parents when they got the phone bill.\
They knew kids would call without checking with their parents.
love when she is laughing at Knock Knock and hiding behind the donut.
Loved this show I watched it every morning!❤❤😊😊🤣😂😂
Thank you Brian S. for posting. The old commercials are awesome. I always had a crush on (Fran) the dark haired chick.
EDIT: Can you imagine how much that VHS of "THE HOBBIT" would be worth now.
900 number comercial for kids to talk to the Easter Bunny...CLASSIC!
gotta love those commercials.
Love Gary Gnu.....
I was 8 years old when this show came on tv, I watched it all the time before school :)
Knock Knock looks like she could be Big Bird's mom lol!
I most definitely remember
Only time I got to watch this show was when I was home from school sick but even those few times it left a big impression on me
I used to skip school to watch this. They used to show this
at 8:30 in the morning and Battle of the Planets at 8 and I
had to be in school at 7:30. I would just stay home.
loved this show as a kid
When kid shows were fun.The mornings were worth getting up for fun.
I have seen Mr. Famous playing the keyboard just as well, too.
This was favorite show as a kid and now I watch it now for laughs
I had that Wildlife Treasury caddy!!!!! I dont rememeber what happened to it. I saw one again awhile back at the vet's office in the kids area
OMG this is so cool thanks so much for posting 👍🏽💯👍🏽
Hey, look... It's Marvin Ham-Sandwich!😂
"...and let it BLAAAAAIIIIIR!"😂
I turned on the radio and let it blare!
I sing the song to my wife!! She was too young to watch it!! Love the show!!
Childhood memories
This is how I found out about Marvin Hamlisch and when he passed away, I immediately thought of his appearance on this show.
The music had a rock feel
These commercials crack me up!!😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
I remember Gorridle's corny jokes at the end.
Yep! This was on KMSP in the Twin Cities.
LOL more than ONE commercial for DIFFERENT products had the SAME PHONE NUMBER!!!! with NO extension!! LOLOLOL!!!!!!
Classic for adults n kids
I want to see the house owned by the man who invented the 1-900 number to talk to the Easter Bunny. That man is a Business GENIUS.
Bwahaha, yeah for real !
Greg Lynn I would just like to meet that person. I remember that, it was crazy.
I saw this show a long time ago.
I use to watch this shiw faithfully when i was a kid.
now this is old school lol
But I have also seen the two thulsals of comedy, Goriddle and Edison tell jokes on the great space coaster show just as well, too.
Are you aware that Edison blows his nose on his pillow?
I'll bet that 1-900 Easter bunny guy is a millionaire. $1.00 for the first minute, .35 cents each additional minute. Gotcha.
Just discovered the guy who voiced the gorilla would later voice Elmo on Sesame Street...
I thought his voice sounds familiar
The blonde hair guy created Dora the Explorer.
When Hamlisch died a few years ago, I thought of this immediately.
good escapist programming.
That dope Goriddle can never get his name right at first. He's like Big Bird and Mr. Hooper, although in the end he did get it right.
I remember this fucking show...
You buy a bigger RADIO and play classical.music at 4 in the morning so your neighbors finally understand that they are being rude! Fight fire with fire kids!!!
I always felt that in those cartoons when they started it the person was saying, "Hi, I'm (name)."
gorridle sounds like buju banton
Knock Knock is Bear from the Big Blue House!! Lol, this show is creepy to watch as an adult.
Creepy as hell is knowing Kevin Clash is the voice of GoRiddle Gorilla and Elmo!! YIKES!!
***** I liked Goriddle, too. That was before Kevin Clash was accused of child molestation, James.
i miss this and later on Dr. Fad
15:38 well… What goes around comes around... around Knock Knock’s beak that is.
What's that cord hanging down into the radio dial during the "let it blare" segment? Looks like the cord that would connect the cursor to the tuning dial is loose/broken.
I used to love this show, I was 10 when it came out...I had such a crush on the girl.
never see that coming
That electric guitar!!!! Whoa!! Fender neck on an Ibanez Destroyer???
+Greg Lynn that guitar was fierce
I had a teacher who looked like gary gnu
my history teacher from junior high looked like Gary Gnu, lol!!
priceless
got here from that elmo puppeteers doc.
lmao
I miss being with family members during this time as well.
Who else high as giraffe balls watching?
I wonder if it's on DVD
I don’t know that the line dude was named Arnold
Hard to believe that the same guy who played Goriddle also played Elmo.
Not hard to believe, though, that it was the same guy who also did Hoots the Owl (same voice as Goriddle).
Why is it hard to believe? It's more of a "did you know" thing.
Should puppeteers be stuck with the same puppets for life?
I need to get high to try and understand this more
Emily Bindiger (my favorite songstress of all time) brought me here.
Me too... after hearing her backing Leonard Cohen on "Who By Fire"
0:41 Off we go!
Wondering if the number still exists?
But I have never heard three space govs who could precent the first part of the show and the last part of the show, either.
I loved watching this show as a kid before going to school every morning :@)
Put a wig on Marvin Hamlisch and he's Howard Stern.
the guy doing the easter bunny commercial around 4:30 kinda sounds like stamper
But the Baxter part of the show made up for it, just as well, too..
wow, the hobbit! I'mma pay 34.95 for my vhs copy right away!!
