I have an SQ5 tuned by APR. It's the best car I've owned. APR turns it to a whole different animal. If you're thinking of getting one, you won't be disappointed.
After 3 years owning (leasing) a Porsche Macan S - (which I loved) I was positive I would buy a new Macan until I compared price vs. drive and options on the SQ5 - I bought the Audi. I agree with everything said in this excellent video. A lot of bang for your buck - A lot less money for the same features and rating the Macan a 98 - I give this SQ5 a 95 - damn close.
My 2023 was worth it to me. I got $10k off MSRP and think I will enjoy it (up to 500 miles now on break in). Would love to have a Macan S but not for $20k more and with the higher maintenance costs. The other 6’s I drove like the M40i and GV70 3.5 were too brutish for my tastes and if I had to buy a Genesis, I would get the 2.5. I am also not a big enough jerk to drive a BMW I think. Mercedes is out…just because
VW seriously needs to apply some of their Macan S/SQ5 performance love to the Tiguan like asap. I own the Macan S... have driven the SQ5.. sweet ride but agreed the fake exhaust outlets totally un necessary.. very un “S” like... those bigass stuck on touchscreens are not going to age well either. Kickass review, if the engine wasn’t broken in prior to RR it’s definitely broken in NOW damn it 🤣🤣🤣
Man I love your reviews best. You really work these vehicles and show their fine points. We have a 17 Q5, want a new Q7 but the SQ5 works for me...probably not the best for the wife. She is conservative. ;) Looking forward to more SUV reviews....primarily the 20 Q7.
Your presentation stands out as one of the best and enlightening. Salesmen take note🤨. One observation though is that the audio and video are slightly out of sync. I'm a former '73 2002 Bimmer and recently proud owner of a '17 SQ5. Question for you, although your '20 SQ5 adjust height with the off-road select, would lowering the SUV via springs etc. improve the handling without compromising the stock set-up by Audi. I think minimizing that gap between the tire and frame would look even better as well. Your thoughts.....

I have an S5 and the SQ5 (for bad weather). My S5 exhaust tips get black and ugly quickly. I like not having to clean exhaust outlets on my SQ5. Just my 2 cents worth.
I love your enthusiasm and love this review. But what's with your logo covering up the dash ? That's a shame we only saw your logo and not that great dash cockpit.
Great video, however I feel like maybe you could do some more research as far as packages or things that can be added. For example depending on the seats/material design you choose you cant get cooled seats. But you can get heated seats on any seat. And that's for all audi sport models. Based on this video I would think I cant get cooled seats but I can I just cant get those seats with it. Also the RS cars are the only ones that get those big oval exhausts. I do agree with the fake exhaust Q5 have.
I am not looking at packages I am looking at price and what you get. Yes there are more expensive pkgs that give you more but at the price point of this vehicle there should be ventilated seats and with it being a "S" model there should be functioning exhausts. Thanks for your feedback and input.

Back in the days I had a 2005 A6- and it had ambient lighting while driving inside along the foot wells etc. I don’t know why they done away with it. Would be nice with these suvs- we have a ‘16 q5 and love it I drove a moonlight blue one 2 wks ago.. same options. Amazing.. great motor very snotty and full of power. My only complaint: Nothing Great video

Had an SQ5 it was the worst car I've ver had. Air ride suspension has ruined the ride, and the short wheelbase made it very unstable on the highway. Technology interior is great, but the seats hurt my back. sold it after 3 months.
The SQ5 looks pretty good, but that infotainment system definitely isn't for me, especially since I test drove my aunt's 2017 Q5. Regardless, I'd probably go for the Q8 😂👍🏻 And how deep is the throttle pedal? It was a major zonk for me when I test drove that Q5 I mentioned earlier. And great vid, as always, Joe!
I was going to comment on that as well. The 2019 SQ5 I drove had terrible throttle response in all drive modes. A deal breaker IMO. No mention of that here. Maybe they fixed it for 2020?
I wouldn't go near that thing since the update has gotta be just around the corner. Audi's new LED styling is making the previous cars look dated in an instant. Great work as usual Rait'er!
Thank you for posting this Patrick. I was reading a comparison review between the SQ5, GLC 43 and the Macan by Car and Driver Magazine. The Mercedes surprisingly won the comparison. The article said that the Merc flat outdid the Audi performance wise.

I love the black optic package. I just don’t like the wheels. They should’ve given a black optic treatment to the 21” wheels you can get.
I really wish auto makers would get rid of that mouse pad for infotainment controls. It's too distracting to use efficiently while driving.

I really hate these wheels. They look awful on this car. The Q5 with the black optic package is way more attractive and handles just as nice.
Not a fan of no real exhaust. At least for 2021 sq5 they put round tips so it looks almost real. Nonetheless, great overview and vid!

J Mendola the engine is now turbocharged. Yes, it was weird that they used the 3.0T when the engine was supercharged.
