I have to admire pipe bands as they always look good, the marines look good, yet I am not so sure of brass bands. Oh they all do the military precision marching, but the pipes just sound better. My dad was a cockney who loved the pipes and drums, as a result we had to listen to them as he worked his way through his collection on a Sunday, I came to appreciate the music as did my brothers and sisters, so much so we had a piper at his funeral, he was entitled to it. Everytime I watch a video of pipes and drums I tear up, this is for you dad.
The march out is good, but one year we were outside of the stadium having to leave early to get the train back (been to the tattoo on a few occasions) and we just stopped as we heard the band. It was in the distance getting slightly louder every second, the band then exited the stadium and marched out and kept playing while marching, it just added so much to the occasion.
I’ve done the same. Saw it from inside the stadium, super cool. Watched and listened as they marched out under the grandstand (right under my feet!), totally awesome. Standing at the bottom of the alleyway, hearing them play while marching down the royal mile, magic.
In Edinburgh they play as they march out. It's quite a sight as the drums and pipes can be heard echoing for miles. It's basically a giant sound tunnel. Quite spectacular to be up close to it.

It's heard every time there is a pipe band - infact I remember a "Corps of Drums" managing a rendition with bugles taking us back to barracks after a Church Parade
@@Trueblue222 that's not what ah said now was it , the authorities in the army an the gov did almost ban the playing of this tune cos of the effect it had on us Scots . ah know loads o folk love the pipes just look at our Commonwealth every time the Queen goes anywhere they rock out the pipes for her . so yeah ya tea bag get it right , aye ! lol.

I'm wi ye John. Don't really care for the brass bands near so much as the war pipe! When I'm funeralized, I wanna be "piped out!"
