I was introduced to this anime around the summer of 2018, but I can’t remember how. I only saw 4 episodes but I heavily related to Umaru being a perfect student and a slob otaku.
Anyway, I also met a girl in the cafeteria at school while I was in 8th grade who had an Umaru tee. Never spoke to her much, but I did talk to her about how relatable the show is.
I love Himinoto-Umaru -Chan. I wish I was her. I wish I could be a super genius who could easily do his work after playing video games all the time. This show is very relatable if you have siblings.
I just clicked on this video to know more about this anime, and was quite pleasantly surprised by the amount of research done such as dates of manga scanlations etc But my mind was blown when I saw the actual channel with so little subscribers, I thought I was watching some popular anime review channel based on the quality of the video Kudos to you buddy, The effort on the video is amazing Also you gained a subscriber
I loved this show! I know that Umaru can act like a brat, but in my opinion that's nothing compared to some truly horrible and unlikable characters I've seen. Also Umaru cares about others and helps them. Like in the very first episode when she accidentally scared a girl who nearly fell over. She caught her and helped her back up. I thought that was sweet of her.
You do such a fantastic job researching things (and providing your references at the end!) and explaining things well! I had absolutely zero familiarity with this show other than seeing some pics of the little orange gremlin floating around, but the explanations and information you included give enough context to understand, which is a great skill.
Wow i Enjoyed Watching The Video and The Quality Is Amazing! The Anime Itself is Great and i Cant Wait for a 2nd Part! (There is Also a Umaru Stress Ball/Reliever Idk Just a Small Fun Fact)
I got to know this anime thanks to the MEMEZ, I had no idea it had such a mixed reception over here. Great work dude, looking forward to the next part! 👀
I remember when Yey aired Umaru-chan and I watched it until it was late at night with my aunt. She didn't get it and just kept watching until she fell asleep but I was hooked. The next day at school I told my friend who was sitting next to me and she told me she watches it too and just kept teasing me on how I and Umaru were really similar in terms of being high academic achievers and being chronically online 💀💀 Let's just say I was upset the entire day lmao.
I don't care what people say: the chibi in the hamster hoodie is hilarious! BTW, did you know her English voice actress was a contestant on "American Idol"? And she wasn't the only anime voice actor to do so either?
Anime Expo is the biggest anime convention in the US and takes place in California. Companies often do big reveals there. And thank you! That is the plan: going over English subs, dubs, games, and manga.
You should make an English version files video on captain tsubasa road to 2002 lost English dub. From what I heard people were telling me that it used to air on animax Asia and the only way to watch it is to get this Middle East streaming service called starz on so I was wondering if you can make a video on that
If I can add some context as someone who wasn’t big on Umaru, my big issue was more about the framing of Umaru’s behavior than Umaru herself. Because yeah, Umaru is a bratty gremlin creature who grows over time, but the way it’s portrayed as cute/“moe” didn’t click with me at all. And it doesn’t help that it came out while “waifuposting” was unavoidable, so a lot of fans a little _too_ into Umaru’s gremlin form wouldn’t stop talking about how she was “best girl”. It just felt like it was pandering to a type of anime fan I didn’t agree with
Thanks for the additional input! It was difficult to cram everything in that I wanted as far as why people weren't big on the show, and you brought up a good point I could've elaborated on further when saying the behaviour goes uncontested, which is something I saw brought up a lot. Thanks for watching!
I really disliked it then I was younger. More like subconsciously jealous “why she can be lazy nerd like me but also better in everything??” Haha I have her nendoroid with separate extra faceplates, it’s really cute figurine, I think one of the best from this line And as I’m now a grown adult, I appreciate this title for what it is. And I always think about her then seeing chips or chocolate mushrooms) and then buy some with coke
I think honorifics should be used in the subs but not the dubs. Sometimes the honorifics are a plot point for example Yor calls Anya Anya-San in Spy x Family because she is a very polite character. She also doesn't feel quite like she is Anya's mother yet and Anya was there before her. In a dub the honorifics might get in the way of the lip sync.
14:30 who would though that this was a nightmare for those outside the USA (Left both European and Latin American Markets, and kept the global rights still, making it imposible for us to watch the shows shown with logos in this section, most were available before on CR and specially Netflix)
You know, I'm surprised more people haven't requested this given how highly regarded the US English dub is... Noted. It could make for one _hell_ of an episode.
What's with anybody in the chat mentioning hamtaro no one never talks about that anime the only thing people know about is that that game boy advanced video game that's about it not about the anime or nothing not about the manga or anything
I'll request BoBoiBoy. This is MALAYSIAN animation. Not european. MALAYSIAN. There's 2 dubs of the original BoBoiBoy, 1 dub of BoBoiBoy Galaxy, 1 Dub Of Both Movies, PLUS you might have to cover mechamato since that's also in the BoBoiBoy universe (probably not tho)
To be fair, season 2 (and later the author himself in a bonus volume) confirms there is nothing romantic between them and that she is just projecting her big brother onto him, hence her getting flustered (and misunderstandings from others like Kirie).
I'm from the side that disliked Umaru as a teen. The violent thoughts I had towards her were strong 😂... 🫸🐹🫷*Snaps neck in half* I just thought she was a brat and I felt bad for her "brother" who was just a random guy she lets take care of her 😂 I did see the later episodes but... hard to fix those first impressions.

Thank you so much for the kind words!!! Nicest comment I've received all year
Another Peak Yui Vid 👍

Thank YOU for being a long-time viewer! :D

I will never understand the hate this anime got it so funny
It’s great to see that some people still like himouto Umaru chan!
I'm gonna be real: this was my favourite video to make! I had a great time rewatching the show, making the script, and editing the video

Would really like you to do a video on the love live franchise

I remember when this used to be a anime dub show and now the dub is moved to part two
I don't care what people say: the chibi in the hamster hoodie is hilarious!
BTW, did you know her English voice actress was a contestant on "American Idol"? And she wasn't the only anime voice actor to do so either?
Yeah I heard her backstory before, and I know she LOVED voicing Umaru! I wish she was more recognised for the role because it's brilliant.
Glad they didn't make umaru and her brother a thing, though it's clearly hinted that kirie is umaru's love interest
I think a video on giant robo the ova: the day the earth stood still is needed.
Noted 🤖
Desperately hoping you someday have a look at the precure franchise and it's rather interesting dubbing history
You could make an History videos on Japanese Transformers Series, Idaten Jump if possible.
Thank You.
:)
She reminds me of my sister thats why I personally HATE her
Anime expo is thing? Btw I loved this format you know talking about the series, sub and dub i think you should continue it for all vids!

I'll go over this in greater detail when I talk about season 2... it gets wild.
I thought he was going to talk about the hamtaro
Hamtaro will show up in the next part ;)
Neato!
can you please do black butler!!

Those who hate Umaru simply do not understand Umaru. Simple as.
I'd love this anime

Did she actually translate them properly? Or did she make up stuff and put in her politics like Jamie Marchi?
I'm from the side that disliked Umaru as a teen.
