What a perfect lesson! Really at a perfect time as winter is upon us in the Northern hemisphere and time to actually get out to play is limited by weather and holiday commitments. Muscle memory and how the swing is SUPPOSED to feel is so important! Thanks again, Danny!
A buddy of mine was just going over the straight line thru your body you mentioned in the beginning of the video.I think this video can be a real game changer. In my opinion one of the best and most accessible I've seen to date Thank you
This is great. As a novice, the swing feels like there's too much to think about at once, but this breaks things into individual sections that are easy to follow. Top stuff mate
Hello Danny, I've subscribed and followed your videos for years. Thank you very much for all of the great golf tips. After watching today's video - I stumbled upon your video of recommended daily golf exercises at the Peter Cowan facility. The tips are great. As a 65 year old with a stiff back, I go to my Chiropractor once a month for a tune up :). He has drummed into me that when we stretch and exercise we should always exercise the opposite side of our body as well, to keep the body balanced in strength and flexibility. He also advises that after every other hole while on the golf course to swing a long iron in the opposite of my normal direction about 5-6 times. Again, for the purpose to help keep the body balanced - it has helped me finish 18 holes with less stiffness and discomfort in my back. I just wanted to share in case it may help some of your students. Thanks again for improving my golf game. CHEERS! Jack in the States
I love the analogy of getting "The downswing for free." Properly loading the left shoulder and returning it straight down is spun gold for the golf swing. No incorrect rotation that creates an out of position throwing action. I think the shoulder drill is the best of the three with the ball drill being a close second. All three are simple and that's the most important thing. Great stuff. Keep it pouring out!!
Your opening lines say it all, so many golfers I know never take a lesson. Some rarely go to the practice areas other than a bit of putting. Then as if by magic think their game is going to improve. If professionals work with a coach then we amateurs need to. We need that second pair of eyes to see our faults and guide us
@@DanielMaude that’s why I take lessons and the pro will video with his phone to show the good with the bad. Biggest problem is what the body does naturally ( wrong over the top) with what the brain wants it to do. It’s part of what makes the game
I spent over $10,000 on golf lessons. Never improved my game 1 stroke. I gain more knowledge from Danny and a few others on UA-cam than the local pros who pocketed all my money.
I enjoy your videos and try and take your lessons to the course, the one thing I would like to see is showing your moves in slow motion, I’m unable to slow your videos down but I believe it would help me and maybe others. Thanks 👍
Danny, Danny, Danny! I have to really thank you on this one, it has changed my outlook on my game. I have been struggling to find that thing that can get me to use my athleticism and apply it to my new love of golf. I have not been golfing for a long time, just 5 yrs, but I have been super discouraged with the lack of consistency with my swing, from takeoff to final pose. Tonight, no joke, it almost brought me to tears. I applied the instruct in this video and it changed EVERYTHING. A million thanks sir! I wish you could have seen my swing from before. Looking forward to my next time out!
I decided that you're my favorite UA-cam golf instructor. So many good tips from your videos. I appreciate how everything is pretty much to the point and nothing long and drawn out. Kepp it up.
Danny, I've been playing for 50 years with a single digit handicap, but lately my ball striking has not been crisp and has been quite unsatisfying, not to mention less distance. This video got me straightened away in short order. I actually combined these drills with Dave Cowen's famous "flag pole" drill which you can find on UA-cam as well. The combination of your drills plus the pole drill really got me hitting well again. All the right feels for a good golf swing! Nine straight pars on the back nine today with several good looks at birdie. Thank you so much!
This drill helped me a lot. I will be doing it daily. For me it was the second section on the right arm the dumbbell description with the right hand looking like its holding a pizza box or a waiter tray. I felt the compression on my drives and several iron shots. Thank you.
Danny, I have been struggling for a year with my swing and drifted out to a 23 handicap. I watched this video and over the last few weeks I have been shooting 31-35 points! Better still, I put it all together today and shot 45 points. Thank you sir, this is a lifesaver 🙌
Where was Danny Maude when I was learning golf (mostly after retirement). Thank you Danny. You are undoubtedly the best golf instructor out there, bar none! I have had some really bad lessons from professionals and subsequently set out on my own. Danny would have saved me many years of experimenting. If you want to learn how to play properly and excel, follow this guy. Again, thanks
Love this weeks lesson. Some really good thoughts to practice on. Looks lovely where you are. Living the dream and you deserve it. Thanks as alwayd and have a great weekend.
Hi Danny- Without doubt one of your very best videos clearly explained and extremely helpful but requires 1. close attention to detail ( not really simple because there is a load of info here- but certainly understandable) and 2. rehearsals for improvement. A classic. Thank you
Danny, at 73, I've taken a LOT of lessons and watched a LOT of golf training videos (most are quite good), yours are the best!! Perhaps it's the honest enthusiasm your instructions have. This is another, great lesson!" I will practice it, often. Get to North Carolina, stop in, and I'll fix you a steak on the Green Egg (a "barby"). Thank you, Tom
Don't think I've ever heard that step right for a slice and step left for a hook drill! Just tried that feeling at home and wow! I struggle with getting stuck and hitting hooks or pulls and stepping left really helped me feel more open through impact. Amazing Mr. Maude!
Cheers for this Danny. I was doing the throw drill while watching this for the first time in front of my laptop and could see I was throwing left a bit because I was going out to in. I can tell you it's an easy fix when you stand up close to your desk and smash your knuckles a few times. Straightened me up straight away!
I haven’t tried this yet, but it looks very promising. I’ve watched tons of videos on how to hit a three wood or how to hit your hybrid, but none of them start with basic form which I think is very important. I always feel kind of awkward like my body is not doing what it needs to to get a good golf swing. This seems to get right at the points needed, excited to try this. Will update on how it goes. Thanks again for sharing these exercises. I also have some before numbers for distance will be interesting, Once I get this to compare some after numbers to see what’s changed and hopefully how it’s improved with swim distance. Thanks again.
Thank you Danny, this video has just saved me 👍🏼 Just returning from injury, and my iron swing was ruined - I play off 16.5 but was shanking every other iron shot 🤦🏼♂️ Just been running through these drills, and hitting a few balls down the training ground - and the shanks have vanished 🙏🏼🙏🏼😅
GREAT VIDEO!!! very helpful, your break downs for the 3 steps are extremely helpful. Thank you for explaining each step and keeping it very simple to follow and understand. You are truly one of the best and inspirational coaches out there! You make golf enjoyable and fun. Thank you so much.
While watching your videos I’m following along with the drills. I’m finding my technique is mostly okay. My weakness was in loading my lead shoulder and not returning it to its starting point. lol it’s such a simple fix but I didn’t know what to fix. Thanks again for another great drill to work on.
To be honest it was my thumb on my trail hand. I pinned it on the shaft, this was like a parking break for my wrists. After watching your video I realized all I had to do is move my thumb around the club more and all of a sudden my wrists are free to rotate and wow does that result in longer and straighter shots!
As a new golfer (really new) just shot 130 the other day and need help this is a great video. Got a practice net for backyard and I’m ready to take videos and get better
So jealous you're hanging out in Dubai right now. As always, tremendously powerful yet simple drills to keep us improving in the winter season. Enjoy Dubai, Danny!
Possibly the best drill I’ve ever seen! If only I was taught this 30 years ago there’s a possibility I would make the tour 🤣 thanks Danny, this really helps
Danny, I love your videos and I think you are the best on line by a mile. What I have noticed with all the various techniques coached by yourself and your peers is that there is rarely any reference to the importance of having a neutral grip. Is it fair to say that if the club is significantly set in an open or closed position at the top then adjustments will need to be made in the downswing in order to square the club up at impact?I love your swing and the tempo of your swing. The most professional teacher on line. Many thanks.
Thanks for the feedback Barry, what I’ve seen over the years is a neutral grip is a myth. There are too many great players that have strong, neutral and weak grips. The key is to match up your swing to your grip
Love the 1st n 2nd drill n 2nd drill definitely a game changer for me today. Saw ur video last night tried them out in my game today. Love d video. Thank u Danny.
Hi Danny, another great video and very simple but effective drills. I am about to make one of those internet claims which readers will say is BS but it is true. I was away the past two weeks without my clubs and the only golf fix available was yours and Golf mates videos. In the opening drill of this video you described all the errors I was making in my hip and body turn. So I did the drills each day, in particular getting my hip UP and around. Home Friday night and played both Saturday and Sunday. I am off 18 and average 180 metres on my drives. The past two days my average driving distance went to 200-210 metres, measured on my GPS. It was pretty windy and two drives I hit down wind went 228 metres. By doing these drills I added 20 to 30 metres on the driver, with less effort. My irons also gained 10 - 15 metres across the whole set. Ball flight accuracy also increased. I didn't score that well, only because I was airmailing greens and playing from places I had only ever walked past after playing my second or third shot. Thanks Danny, you have made a 62 year old average golfer a very happy man. Get onto these drills people, they work big time.
Danny I think these are the best exercises I have come across to stabilise the full swing. Certainly the trail hip turn and lead shoulder loading points are key in my personal experience.
Love it. The first 2 exercises remind me of Pete Cowen's instructions. Except Pete in his vidoes did not elaborate exactly how to load up the shoulders. Now I get it. Thank you very much as always. Wonder if it's too much to ask how to load the shoulders differently for a draw and a fade?
'Muscle memory' love this term, Danny. Yes, for me it feels like having extra brain cells now in my body. Perfect drills! Love it! Greetings from Germany 🙋🏽♂️
You may have saved me from the deep rabbit hole I'm stuck in of trying every new golf tips thats been holding my game back for yrs. All of the sudden, backswing to follow thru looks and feels right. I can feel the speed and the ease of delivering the club to the ball square. I will drill this motion everyday during winter and hopefully kick all my buddies behind next season! 🤣 thank you so much for this video!! Much respect from NJ, USA!
Hi,i hope your golf is as great as you were centre forward. If you were 25 year old now you would be out in quatar and everyone would be cheering you on in your England shirt
Hi Danny, great lesson, as always. The image of throwing the javelin has been for me the most effective swing thought thus far. What a great image. I went with that thought to the practice range, and with one bucket of balls I have already seen the improvement on impact with irons. Much more solid contact, and improved consistency. I am a beginner, so, a lot to work on. But I wanted to let you know what a great tip that is. Congrats on #51! Andrés C.
I’m heading towards 65 and can count on hands and toes the number of rounds I’ve played. This makes the mechanics and balance clear. And, yes, I need a pro to correct me as I go. If you were a bit closer to Wisconsin, Danny, I’d be in your queue.
Great video again Danny. One question for drill 3. You said to throw the ball in the middle of you stance. But in the end of the video you throw the ball two meters further. Where I have to throw the ball exactly. Thanks.
Hi Danny. Pete Cowen speaks about spiraling up your shoulder for a draw or fade. Can you explain this because for me I don’t see any difference. Cheers Walter
Super video again Danny ! Particularly like your first drill, went out onto the range with this and was hitting the ball wonderfully well, in fact as good as ever I have done ! So thank you so much for your really helpful video, you are one of the best coaches out there! Keep them coming....
Thanks for these tips Danny I learned from your “mind the gap” video how to push my right hip back. That made an enormous difference to my wood strokes. In this video you add that we should wind the right hip not only back but as well up. I’ve tried it and it improved my iron shots significantly! The other advice is to load the left shoulder. Here I started to have just too many swing thoughts and my swing ended up in a disaster. Do you have an advice on a simple and effective swing thought routine? Many thanks in advance, Erik
Simple drills made difficult by over thinking Danny. That's why you get people's attention. Short lessons on easily repeatable disciplines. Like I said last week. When it comes to short game, "Dany Maudes Dad" is my only thought.... works 90% of the time. Keep this up pal. 👏
These exercises have really improved my ball striking. They seem to create new muscle memory that when I took it to the range had good results. They are perfect for indoor practice during the cold Midwest USA winter.
Thanks Danny. The second drill gets me started on understanding how to load the lead shoulder. A while back Pete Cowen have a lesson to James Robinson where he talks about loading the shoulder for a draw and loading the shoulder for a fade, but with no explanation as to how that is done. Any chance you can clarify that distinction?

I went with that thought to the practice range, and with one bucket of balls I have already seen the improvement on impact with irons. Much more solid contact, and improved consistency. I am a beginner, so, a lot to work on. But I wanted to let you know what a great tip that is. Congrats on #51!

Thanks Andres appreciate the support 😁🙌
I’m heading towards 65 and can count on hands and toes the number of rounds I’ve played. This makes the mechanics and balance clear. And, yes, I need a pro to correct me as I go. If you were a bit closer to Wisconsin, Danny, I’d be in your queue.
Appreciate the feedback
Wow! Great exercises. I’ve been struggling in this and I think will help…can’t hurt 😀
Hope they do Gene 😁
Great video again Danny. One question for drill 3. You said to throw the ball in the middle of you stance. But in the end of the video you throw the ball two meters further. Where I have to throw the ball exactly. Thanks.
forward is fine 👍
Hi Danny. Pete Cowen speaks about spiraling up your shoulder for a draw or fade. Can you explain this because for me I don’t see any difference. Cheers Walter
Something I will cover in a later video 👌
Super video again Danny ! Particularly like your first drill, went out onto the range with this and was hitting the ball wonderfully well, in fact as good as ever I have done ! So thank you so much for your really helpful video, you are one of the best coaches out there! Keep them coming....
So great to hear Andrew
Thank you so much needed this!
Have a great weekend
Nice and easy learning. Merci
Thanks HK 😁
Thanks for these tips Danny
I learned from your “mind the gap” video how to push my right hip back.
Many thanks in advance,
Erik
Absolutely Erik, focus on one thing at a time and make sure that one thing is directly linked to improving impact
So simple, but it has really helped me get back off of my trail side and definitely hit the ball straighter!!!
Happy to help Steve 😁
Well done Danny 👏
Happy to help Roy
Thx Danny i keep it in my favory
Thank you!
Great set of drills. I've never been in that top of back swing position before. Thanks.
Thanks Keith 👍
How many of us old men have got Pete Cowan Coil video on VHS? 😀. There's some reminders there Danny. Wind it up. Great video. 👍
All the best Graham, very simple but so so effective
Simple drills made difficult by over thinking Danny. That's why you get people's attention. Short lessons on easily repeatable disciplines. Like I said last week. When it comes to short game, "Dany Maudes Dad" is my only thought.... works 90% of the time. Keep this up pal. 👏
great stuff, Danny!!
Thanks Randy!
These exercises have really improved my ball striking. They seem to create new muscle memory that when I took it to the range had good results. They are perfect for indoor practice during the cold Midwest USA winter.
Great lesson. I know I do t get a good turn through the ball which leads to inconsistent results. Will definitely be working on these drills 👍🏻
Thanks Rob 😁
Awesome, awesome, awesome Danny, as ever. Thank you!
Thanks Chip 😁
Awesome drills 😎😎😎
Thank you 👍⛳️
Thanks Danny!
Pleasure John 😁
Thanks Danny. The second drill gets me started on understanding how to load the lead shoulder. A while back Pete Cowen have a lesson to James Robinson where he talks about loading the shoulder for a draw and loading the shoulder for a fade, but with no explanation as to how that is done. Any chance you can clarify that distinction?
I will indeed Jacob in an up and coming video
