    You are SPOT ON, Nole. Fight for the players to get 50% or the Players should withdraw their consent for the Player's names to be used by the betting companies. Also, ensure that at least HALF of the Player's shares is paid to the the ATP players ranked 200 to 2080 . They need the funding most of all !

    tournaments like futures and challengers should offer players the option of extra compensation to wear apparel that has sponsor logos on them. players don't have to agree to participate in that deal, but unsponsored players could get extra income and the sponsors would get extra advertisement.

      @@vasco1610it's sad because there are hundreds of thousands of players that play other sports and live like gods from it. A player from a second football Germany/england or any other Europe League is not among the top 1000 football players, but yet he earns more than a tennis player who is ranked among the best 100 in the world. On the other hand, like it's stated in this video, any tennis player that appears on tournaments generate way more money to the betting companies, then some 2nd league football or basketball match, because matches are played on daily basis, and there is even more live betting going on, because you can literally put money on every point or game played, and there is a lot of people that do so. And they don't receive any money from it. And you know who does? ATP, ITF and WTA are selling data from those matches to betting companies, tournaments are getting sponsored by them, and the only ones that receive nothing in this chain are tennis players. And without them nobody else would be able to profit from tennis. So it's not fair they don't receive any share in this process , isn't it?

    • @vasco1610
      @vasco1610 Рік тому

      @@aleksandarstegic what you said is all true, expect that it is sad. it's not sad. a job is a job and to me entertainment is entertainment and their jobs are the least important there are. there are thousands of entertainers making shit loads of money and yes only very few of those are playing tennis, and maybe a similarly small number of those are volleyball players and whatever else. who cares?
      all workers should get a fair share of the value they provide to their employers and they don't, it's unfortunately like that across pretty much every industry, including entertainment. given that there are many more people in similarly unfair work situations but who happen to work valuable jobs (and not just playing games for us to watch on tv), I don't get sad when I hear that only X amount of people that are involved in this particular type of professional entertainment activity don't make enough money.

    I am actually not sure if what is promoted here is a good thing. If you are directly being paid by the betting company wouldn't there be more incentive to offer more money to top players to lose??? Never ever should a player/event be associated with a betting company as a sponsor. Most unprofitable bets for betting companies are when favorites win so there would 100% be some conflict of interest there. Novak doesn't support sports betting so to say that 95% of other players should have it is not genuine (he doesn't support it for himself but for all others he does?!). For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about just look at UFC and how many rigged decisions there are when fights go to decision (DRAFT KINGS paid those judges A LOT OF MONEY).

    He’s arguing for a union, but how do you have a union for an individual sport where most players below the top 25 don’t last for more than a few years. You want change, convince the other guys in the top 10 to go on strike. You’ll get everything you ask for.

    • @bts_txt27jenn63
      @bts_txt27jenn63 Рік тому +3

      convince? that's easy for you to say when most top 20-30 players were under contracts with sponsors THAT are against union in tennis... once unionization happens, players CAN negotiate their income from these sponsors and will have more of a say and SPONSORS in tennis like NIKE, ADIDAS and HEAD and others DON'T LIKE THAT!

      tournaments are allowed to have sponsors from major betting companies!!!! and players don't have their share !!! this is not fair .
      the right thing is to prohibit betting companies from advertising and interfere in tennis world completely or let the players have their own share from revenue just like tournaments organizers .
      as Novak said it is unfair for players to keep the status quo like this .

    • @sophieoshaughnessy9469
      @sophieoshaughnessy9469 Рік тому +5

      I agree that it’s a bad thing, but making it worse is that it only benefits the betting company and tournament corporation. It’s a fact that most pension and retirement funds have guns, gambling, tobacco money in them. This is a separate issue from whether these athletes who only earn for 10-15 years (if they’re lucky) stand to benefit. They’re the ones with the essential but limited resource- their talent and youth.

    • @michaeld.3931

      2 issues here.
      1. Ur comparison doesnt make sense. An apple to orange comparison aint correct. Compare similar global sports with similar viewership and study their finances and the % of the total share players receive.
      2. In other team sports, all the expenses are borne by the team and there is a guaranteed prize money irrespective of the result but tennis is result oriented and lower ranked players CANT make a living which collapses the sports altogether.
      So these guys r making an attempt to revive it. Mere 12% of revenue for players aint sustainable with Atp bosses bagging most of it from their AC rooms. 🤷‍♂️
      If u need to earn ur living... U gotta fight.. And this group lead by nole and pospisil are doing just that. 💪 commend them for that and not pull them down.

      @vasco1610 Рік тому

      @@guruk my comparison makes sense cause business is business. instead of comparing to tech, sure, you could compare tennis and tennis players and their share of the revenue to the ones in other sports, but it varies, in some it's great in some others like in MMA and the UFC in particular, not so much. would I like to see the workers get a bigger slice of the pie? in tennis? of course. but my point is that this problem is prevalent in every industry, and to be honest, if I had to pick and solve the problem in a given industry over the others, entertainers, including tennis players, would be at the bottom of my priority list.

      @@vasco1610 r u a tennis player? No. They are and they are not begging but they r fighting for THEIR rights.
      And Wait what? "If u had to pick?" 🤔
      U r entitled to ur choices of areas of reforming and charity but we as tennis community and lovers would like to see better things for our players. And we here are not contributing for their uplifting, the players are fighting for their rights. How does it matter how and what u or I want to pick to reform 😇
      the change has to start from somewhere and am glad it did, Bcoz of pospisil and novak. Glad over around 400 atp-wta players have realized and are fighting for what they think is their fair share. Wish them GOOD. 👏
