    I’m definitely an aggresive baseliner. When everything is flowing naturally, winning every point with a winner. When it’s not your day just very inconsistent shots.

      My playing style is counter-poucher. I barely make mistakes, I'm able to run for the ball like crazy neither it bothers me, but neither I usually hit heavy shots, sometimes I try to change to aggressive baseliner but it's just not my style...

    I would not consider Djokovic an all court player. His net game does not appear comfortable to me despite greatly improving. I still consider him a counter puncher. However, you do have valid arguments and he is far better all around than he used to be. Great vid overall!

    Of any of them I’m the all around. Skill wise I didn’t have glaring problems. Felt comfortable pretty much in any situation. The serve went a bit downhill pace wise after the shoulder injury but compensated with spin. My biggest weakness came from something not skill based. I was a complete head case when I played very competitively

Just college and life, and the shoulder injury that happened just reared it’s ugly head cause I picked up tennis again recently.Gotta get it looked at. @@joshc.6706 ahh yeah i'm sorry that happened but that's great you started playing again. I hear about it all the time from athletes that sometimes the body just isn't on the same page as everything else. I feel like I’m a big server (I use that term loosely) but I’m trying to really improve my lefty serve there’s no better feeling than controlling everything and your opponent not even touching the ball.

    I'm more of a counter puncher, I wait to find an opening in the court I like or a shot that my opponent isnt comfortable with then attack. And I'm athletic with long limbs so serve and volley comes naturally to me, it's a shame it's a dying art

    • @snowmansportsmedia
      @snowmansportsmedia  3 роки тому

      I definitely like to counter punch too, but I'm not as comfortable at the net. You're right, most young players aren't as comfortable finishing points off w volleys

  • @rikmcdik6662
    @rikmcdik6662 2 роки тому +3

    I’m an all court player. My serve and return both are strengths for me, but there are plenty of others who are stronger at that on my play level. I can go for baseline rallies if I need to. Ultimately, I do try to get to the net to finish points and can hit a great variety of different shots and spins. I am by no means somebody who consistently serves and volleys or chips and charges though. I like to vary my play as the match goes on and going for strategies to throw off my opponent. I’m all over the place at the end of a match.

    I’m the guy who mostly plays junk shots, but I probably fit in the counter puncher category. Many drop shots and slice. My serve is decent but nothing special. Kinda fun to watch your opponent go crazy and try to hit harder, which isn’t the best thing to do on a clay court

    • @tanyag2499
      @tanyag2499 3 роки тому +1

      Nah, Djokovic is a classic all-around player. He can adapt his game depending on the opponent. For example, at Wimbledon this year, he came to the net a lot more than usual against Shapovalov and Berrettini, and it worked very well. Djokovic can counter-punch with his incredible flexibility and court movement. He can be aggressive by using his powerful groundstrokes. He has even improved his serve a lot over the years so that he can try to emulate a big server when needed. Point being that he can adjust his game as needed and does not really rely fully on any one of the other styles, hence his designation as an all-around player.

    great video, can you tell what exactly variation of shots mean? people are saying that andreescu has much variety in her game just to hit good drop shots means variety of shots?

    • @snowmansportsmedia
      @snowmansportsmedia  3 роки тому +2

      Good question, yeah Andreescu definitely has one of the best drop shots in the world. But she also can slice the ball with her forehand or backhand which puts a different spin on the ball compared to conventional topspin groundstrokes. She can also thrown in high-arcing moon balls to throw her opponents rhythm off. Basically she keeps her opponents guessing more than a typical player because she can hit the ball w many different spins, angles, depth, height, etc.

  • @cgsanchez
    @cgsanchez 3 роки тому +4

    Djokovic is an aggressive baseliner. He has improved his net skills but still rarely comes to volley. Plus his overhead smash still is a weakness.
    Nadal is a counterpuncher, even against low ranked players he tends to play passive and his power flat shots are mostly passing shots when the rival attacks the net.

    • @rikmcdik6662
      @rikmcdik6662 2 роки тому +3

      I do not agree. Nadal is by all means an aggressive baseliner and Djokovic is a counter puncher.
      Nadal is the weakest of the big 3 at the net and rarely comes up there because he dictates play from the baseline with his heavy, topspin balls. This is why he is the king of clay. Between his court coverage and ability to produce long rallies with his topspin keeping the ball within the lines. Grass courts are a major weakness for him because they almost negate his spin.
      Djokovic prefers baseline rallies and has the court coverage to get himself in position to blast back at players when they’re trying to hit a winner. His net game is passable but nothing special. He is extremely hard to beat because he doesn’t force anything but really grinds you down and uses your power against you. That’s why he’s arguably the most consistent of the 3. His game translates well to every surface.
      Roger is a true all court player who can hit every shot well. His main weakness is his backhand and in order to beat him you need to either be able to track down his forehands and blast them back, or dictate with a superior baseline game and get looping topspin balls to force his backhand to either slice or be taken at a high point of contact. He dominates grass because he has the ability to serve and volley, chip and charge, and his fairly flat forehand almost skids when he gets a good opportunity for a winner. His net game is by far the best of the 3.
      All 3 also possess extremely good return of serve. If you truly want to advance your game, then this area is one every play style can incorporate. It’s difficult, but having a solid return game will negate a big server. This is why you almost never see a grand slam winner with that style of play.

    • @astonishingaparajit6785
      @astonishingaparajit6785 2 роки тому +2

      @@rikmcdik6662 nadal is weakest of big3 at net. This is a ridiculous stmt. Thats djokovic clearly. All big3 players are allround players they dont have any alarming weaknesses per se. They have their preferences thats it. I feel ur assessment of the big3 feels too generalized. Rafa has the best doubles cv of the big3 and his mastery at net has been clear for the 2nd half of his career.
      If grass courts are a major weakness for him how on earth he played in 5 consecutive wimbledon finals before age of 25. I mean his net game wasn't even that great then like now. He did have early losses in middle part of his career mostly due to his knee issues and rg fatigue.

    • @rikmcdik6662
      @rikmcdik6662 2 роки тому

      @@astonishingaparajit6785 no it’s not a ridiculous statement. Djokovic has improved his net game and his serve & volley to the point his net game is better than nadal.
      Also, when you compare the big 3 to each other the weaknesses are relative to each other, not generalized to the entire tour. What are the grass court records between the 3? I could say the same about Roger being weak on clay despite torching the majority of the tour because out of the big 3 he’s the worst on clay for the reasons I listed.

    • @astonishingaparajit6785
      @astonishingaparajit6785 2 роки тому

      @@rikmcdik6662 i disagree with the first para. I dont think so still his net game is better than nadal.
      2nd para, well i thought u generalized to not just competition bw big3 but generally like grass courts are a major weakness. Their grass court h2h is tough as there is only 1 main tournament on grass every year. Like djoko has positive h2h record vs fed as he didn't play fed on grass beforr 2011 on grass. He lost in 2012 too. Djoko-rafa is even. Rafa played fed before 2010 mainly on grass the 3 consecutive finals they had. Overall rafa had a rough patch bw 12-15 on grass due to knees and other fatigue. Fed won 5 in a row before 2008. Djok has won 4 in a row now, rafa hasnt had a streak like that at wimbly.
      Fine if u just generalised it among big3 still rafa vs prime fed on grass in 2007-2008 played 2 five settees and won 1. And at that time he was aggressive baseliner only so it worked on grass too.
      I am fine with rafa being worst on grass among the 3 tho i feel he is closer novak despite novak extending his grass streak recently.
      Also if one doesnt win a title and loses by few pts he doesnt become weak on a surface and other is clearly stronger. Tennis sometimes just goes like that.

    ?? nadal is not an agressive player, he's striking agressively but he's not agressive at all, he's a defensive player, look at he's statistics, especially he's heatmap and median rallying lengh, the winner/unforced error ratio by the opponent.
