To An Unhatched Chick Little eagle soul Now shine in celestial cloud, You never flew on earthly plane But in Heaven it's allowed. The humans here on Earth We never heard your cry. We never gazed on fluffy head Or watched you grow nearby. Little bird in cradling hands, As fine a nest in breezes May you explore the wings bestowed Upon your soul by Jesus. St. Francis, guide this little one And soothe his parents troubled mind And give us grace to understand Why we were left behind. Little eagle soul Your spirit soars above And though we never met you, Please know that you are loved.
What a beautiful and hopeful video im not giving up until i see Jackie leave , makes me wonder do they feel something in the eggs because today's events was very telling they both were busy, shadow with his sticks an Jackie as well bringing in more fluff, , im hoping the very best for J&S ❤
Thanks to the admins for putting this together. Looks like they had a good day. Watching them switch out and seeing that each one has their own way of “fixing up” the nest. Nature is so amazing.
At the least they have shown us all how by instincts, they have brought us together. Their antics and eagle/bird love among themselves, protectors of their nest home, their unity working together, their loyality, their positivity, the way they make us laugh and some cry. Perhaps this fall or next year the weather will be better for these two love birds!
It was a beautiful day, thank you for sharing the stickfest and switcheroos with us, Cali. I especially enjoyed Shadow's last stick placement, even though Jackie sure didn't.
Yeah, I'm gonna be heartbroken if at least one don't hatch after having three eggs with all the hard work they put in, not to mention last year's disappointment. Hopefully they know something we don't with the more than normal delivery of sticks & fluff.🤞
Those eggs better crack. 😢 I feel so sorry for Jackie and Shadow if something is wrong with their babies. They've been working so hard to take care of them.
From I've heard from information on here is that the eagles are used to way colder weather than what they get in California. If they were in Alaska it would be negative degree weather for lots of days in a row. Wishing these two all the best! Not giving up is a good sign that maybe they know more than what we know 😊
I fear it's been too long now for these eggs as it's been over 35 days 😢 It really hurts to feel all their struggles, sacrifices, and efforts may have been in vain again this year. They've been through too much. May God bless this deeply devoted pair of parents 🙏❤️🙏
Shadow and Jackie produced three eggs which is unusual for bald eagles so maybe the first egg wasn’t supposed to hatch. Let’s keep praying for twins👍🏾❤😀 7:14
I just read this. Is this accurate? The hatching rate of bald eagle eggs falling below 50% is due to a combination of factors, both natural and human-caused: Natural Causes: Infertile eggs: Not all eggs laid are fertilized. Sometimes, despite successful mating, the egg may not be viable due to natural biological processes. Embryonic death: Even if fertilized, the developing embryo may not survive due to genetic abnormalities, infections, or other natural causes. Predation: Bald eagle eggs and chicks are vulnerable to predators like raccoons, crows, and other birds of prey. Weather extremes: Harsh weather conditions like extreme cold, heat, or storms can damage eggs or harm developing chicks. Lack of food: If food availability is scarce, parent eagles may struggle to find enough prey to nourish their growing chicks, leading to death before fledging. Human-caused factors: Habitat loss and disturbance: Human activities like deforestation, construction, and recreational activities can destroy or disturb eagle nesting habitats, impacting their breeding success. Pollution: Pesticides, industrial pollutants, and other environmental contaminants can accumulate in the food chain and harm eagle reproduction, causing eggshell thinning and reducing chick survival rates. Lead poisoning: Lead from sources like lead fishing tackle and ammunition can poison eagles, impacting their reproduction and chick survival. It's important to note that: The hatching rate can vary depending on location, habitat quality, and other environmental factors. While the average may be below 50%, some healthy nests might see higher hatching rates, while others may face challenges leading to lower success. Conservation efforts are focused on protecting bald eagle habitats, reducing human disturbances, and mitigating the impact of pollutants like lead. By understanding the challenges bald eagles face we can continue to support conservation efforts to ensure the future of these majestic birds whom we love!! I do not know if what I posted is accurate! I’m hurting for them but learning and just want Shadow and Jackie to be happy healthy together! ❤️❤️❤️
This is the 2nd time I've seen sad news of eggs not hatching. 😢😢 please hatch at least one of them.🙏. I feel sad seeing them both looking depressed when the eggs don't hatch😢😢
Shadow looks like he's building a baby gate. All big sticks around except the commom entrance/exit by the big landing/take-off branch. All that fresh fluffy stuff they really have done such a great job. Lots of stick lashings for Jackie again today but you can tell she really doesn't mind because she's got the best nest in the valley! ❤
With one egg that didn't hatch, I'm praying for the other two 🥚🥚 to hatch. What is the age of the female Eagle when she stops laying eggs? It's always fun to watch Jackie and Shadow. Thank you Cali.
We are watching here from OZ Down Under for over a week now , but we are now a little concerned if the eggs will ever hatch . Hopefully one egg will produce a strong chick as a reward after all that trouble this two going through. 🥰🥰🥰
I wonder why the eggs haven’t hatched like other eagles’ have hatched like Jolene & Boone? Maybe Shadow is sterile? Great video Cali. Thank you for the updates. ❤🦅🦅🥚🥚🥚🪺
Maybe Sandy or Cali knows more about it, but I read an article about an avian ‘flu’ in California that has affected fertility in the eagle population. I live in Arizona and I haven’t been able to put my parrots outside since early last year because of it. Is that rumor or right? My avian vet recommended not putting my boys in their outside enclosure.
There were some confirmed cases in SoCal, but none so far in the San Bernardino mountains. I keep an close eye on the avian flu - it is a nasty bug that has already devastated many bird populations, including the California Condor.
They truly are, but nature doesn't have a "fair" setting. They live a 99% awesome life... with a fantastic view and fresh sushi every day. Maybe next year it'll be 100% .
I wondered this, too. It's been over 35 days. I fear this isn't going to end well and it hurts to think so. These two have endured so much incredibly harsh weather, sacrificed so much of their strength and time, even fought off intruders. This is breaking my heart 💔.
I think people have forgotten, or never learned, what makes Jackie and Shadow's nest in Big Bear so unique. They have lost their amazement of watching two Bald Eagles trying to adapt to their environment in real time with their biology always being a little out of sync. The problem with a "question only" chat is that people don't know what questions to ask. When chat was in more of a dialogue format ,it was much more educational. Information was exchanged freely and spontaneously and everyone who participated understood the significance of Jackie laying eggs, hatching them, and raising eaglets to fledge. The eggs didn't hatch but we witnessed some incredible eagle behavior, not to mention, Jackie laid 3 eggs!
Yeah their overall energy isn't as excited or jovial. They are bonded and healthy and that is all that matters but we shall see. Nature only knows and doesn't give a care about our human feelings even though we want it to. It doesn't have a memory. But these two are strong and doing what they do like a healthy pair does. Just have to let things happen and like life were all day-to-day. .
I’m wondering if there’s some other reason these eggs aren’t hatching like Jackie’s age? Or something in the fish/food they are eating🤷🏻♀️? Idk it’s just so strange🤔🤔🤔🤔
What I’d like to know is how do they recognize each other so quickly from an intruder vs each other so quickly - perched or flying? I think for most of us would agree they all look alike 🧐! 1:11
It is very likely that residues of chemicals, pesticides, plastics and other agents are found in the fish in the lake. The effect is cumulative. the higher up the "food chain" you go. A pesticide is sprayed on plants. Twenty plants are ingested by a bug (which has developed an immunity!). A fish eats twenty bugs and the chemicals in those bugs collect in the fish. An eagle eats twenty fish, and it is as if the eagle had ingested those plants and bugs. Our planet is awash in herbicides, pesticides, plastics (and the components they break down into), chemicals, growth hormones, toxic waste... and sadly, the apex predators, like eagles, bear the burden.
I too wonder about that and mercury exposure from the fish in BB lake. California is good with water quality monitoring, so I think they would be aware of contaminants in the lake environment that could be affecting reproduction.
I was telling my wife you just watch people are going to start blaming people if these eggs don't hatch....ha. Hey, this is nature....survival of the fittest. Don't be blaming humans right away.
these two have to be the least productive bald eagles on youtube. when they actually produce eggs, they sit on them for two months and nada happens. 😀😀
@seacoastpatriot318- with all due respect- these two are some of the most productive eagles to watch. How do you think their nest was built, how do you think the ravens and squirrels etc are kept away, how do you think the find food? I could go on and on. They work together as a team which not all eagles have managed to accomplish and sadly have had to abandon their eggs. Not Jackie and Shadow. They are productive - how do you think the 3 eggs got there? Some things are out of their control. That’s nature. Best wishes to you. Take care.
Thank you for commentations (Is that the right word?¿🤔) And how you keep us informed on Jackie and Shadow 🩷 I can watch this endlessly and I'm so intrigued and I always wonder what they're saying to each other and what they're thinking 🥰🤗

I’m so invested in these birds. I’m hoping for the best but bracing for the worst. No matter what happens they’ll try again next year 💕
Thank you FOBBV!!
A true gift to catch a glimpse into the eagle life❤
Bless all of you for bringing J&S and their eggs to all around the world. Thank you for all of you and what you do for us and the Eagles
Hope Reigns Supreme! This reminds us of the power of Love and devotion, and sticking together, no matter what.
Shadow should've been named Bob (the Builder) with all the constant home renovations he does. Poor Jackie needs a helmet. lol

Fingers crossed for the Dynamic Duo..🦅💯🙏
Jackie needs protective gear! Love the vocals- Shadow’s honk is in fine form.
Thanks for the beautiful video and update from Sandy w/ FOBBV. 💕💕💕
I can't help but to laugh at the placing of the stick.
Poor Jackie gets smacked when Shadow brings those sticks in. I keep praying for those two.🙏
Sometimes he like a bull in a china shop
I'm saddened but I'm so behind the both of you. Prayers
One of my favorite things is when Jackie moves her beak without saying anything. The silent responses to Shadow’s nest arrangements.

Been watching from the beginning I love these two pairs of Eagles
Watching the new hatches at West End Overlook eases my anxiety. And memories of "spirit" always makes me smile.
God Bless you Cali and all❤️
Shadow is the best... Jackie seems upset...with that chatter...keeping faith they get one.

Wasn't they successful two or three years ago with Spirit?
They had a rough windy, snowy time but I’m still hopeful.
Tucking in the fluff, so sweet.

Shadow arriving at the nest is a bit of a controlled crash landing especially clouting Jackie with that stick. "Get that thing off me you clown!".
I really hope her babies hatch very soon
I just have to wonder what they are 🤔 Praying for them. 🙏🏼
I don’t understand why they haven’t had babies after being so nurturing, dedicated and hard working. 😢

@@lisanetgark415there are tons of eagles in Alaska-that’s not why
These birds have given such great care; how is it possible that the eggs wouldn’t hatch?
Has there been or will there be tests conducted of the fish and the lake for toxins or organisms that may have adversely affected J&S fertility?
Seems like they got enough sticks but what do I know...
Can Jackie and Shadow feel the babies moving around in the eggs?

Heart broken again 💔
They seem kinda sad and tired. Maybe they sense something is not right???
Then why would they continue to bring fluff & sticks at a excessive rate? Shadow doing all that house work lately still gives me optimism!🤞❤
Is it too late for another clutch? Does it take about 80 days for eaglets to fledge?

Jackie is 12 years old. Young for an Eagle. She can lay eggs till she’s 25 years old. 🦅❤️
@@Justme-gi5jb ok! I wasn’t sure of her age.
Jackie is 12. That ought to be in her breeding prime. Shadow is 10, also his prime.
