Thanks for not adding music. Everyone adds music to fill the silence... we just love the quiet work.. very soothing in a “loud” world ❤️

Silence, really was helpful ..to get your point across better than uttering many words. I think this is your truth as you are doing this naturally.
Many of us avoid this. Yet, your God - given creative presence says everything that is needed to hear!
    Listen
    And
    Silent are
    Spelled
    With the
    Same letters
    Think about that!
Silence isn't empty, it's full of answers.
There's immense power, creativity in silence.
    Love your tutorial,
    Awesome!
    God Bless you.
    From here in Bavaria Germany.

Silence is fine. Also like to hear sound of machine while FMQ. Watching and listening to others really helped me gain proficiency - especially the tendency when a beginner to swish around curves and corners. Lol

Thank you again! I am now starting a list of projects to do. I have also started a save folder with all your videos on the projects I want to do. I cannot wait to do these with my granddaughter. I think this would be a great way to get her into sewing and having her watch me do the FMQ on these will help her to start learning sewing more. I am so excited to start doing some of these art projects.

clothing they wore and make a scenery of were I grew up. Thank you so much for showing this technique.....beautiful. I loss both my parents held one to many of their pieces of clothing now I know what I can do thank you.

I actually prefer silence while sewing all my projects and I let my mind take over. It amazes me when I reflect on people, places and even emotional feelings I have experienced throughout my entire life. So when each project is done it's filled with each one of those memories, emotions and feelings that have passed through me during it's progress and I cherish each one of those memories. When I touch or look at it months or years later, each stitch is an overwhelming comfort to me. Don't get me wrong was weened on music, but my creativity can easily be distracted by it. I believe all creative works, even quilts had to have been created in the same way, and that's what makes them priceless to so many of us.

I like a good silence. for me this is refreshing because i find that sometimes music in videos fills space but is distracting from the information i am trying to get from the video. I have to agree with the other ladies who opted for no music, I find it to be distracting and depending on the music choice even quite annoying. Sewing is relaxing and watching someone else sewing even more so, particularly if you are learning a new technique, as I was in this video. I don’t mind the sound of the sewing machine though, but that would affect how you make your video!☺️. I really enjoyed this video, I haven’t tried anything like this before but I’m certainly going to give it a go. Thank you so much!

When using the smaller tulle ( than the size of the quilt) do you need to bind the tulle together? Or how do you keep the ends from popping up? An example of tulle is 8"*12', your quilt is 12"*12*. Thank you!

When you used the sparkly overlay, did you cut 2 pieces or did you have wider overlay than the one you showed? I would be curious about how you joined them if you’d used 2 pieces.

    • @TheQuiltmakerHomestead
      @TheQuiltmakerHomestead  5 років тому

I did use two pieces, and I simply overlapped them and you can't even tell :) I made sure to pin them in place really well before quilting, removing the pins as I approached those areas. After quilting it all blended right in. You could probably lift the "raw" edge of the top tulle but the areas are so small that it doesn't much matter :)

Lisa, Thank you! As I age, I’m looking for small projects😀. I like the silence or sound of sewing machine, but can go w/your choices. Happy (Hopeful 2021

Happy New Year Mary! I love the larger bed quilts, but wow they are so much work. These smaller projects really help break up those bigger projects and I love that you can finished these smaller quilts much faster yet still be very creative with them.

It must have something to do with the name but like Theresa Rasche i like soft music in the background or silence .I love this quilt ideas itmight actually get me thinkig about one for me. Thanks for the inspiration. One question i noticed the sparkly tulle wasn't as wide as the quilt itself can you join the tulle or is it best to have it to fit ?

Thanks Theresa for the awesome feedback! For the glittery tulle you are right...it wasn't as wide as the other...I just overlapped it a little and pinned it down in place until it was quilted....you can't even tell :)

I love this idea! I don't like music. Do you coordinate thread with the tile color? Or does it matter? Can't wait to try it.

You can use a thread color that blends in OR use a contrasting color to add another element of design, it's all up to you and the finished look you are trying to achieve :) Thanks for the feedback!!
