Several years ago I met a young family who had a very shy child. They wanted to get her a pet to help her out with her shyness. So I suggested a couple of baby chicks. So they went to the feed store and talked to the clerk and came home with 3 chick's. The best thing that ever happened to that child. She still has them and they are her best friends and she loves sharing her chicken stories. Which helped her shyness around people.
Oh my goodness, Uriah! He is so cute dancing to his own music while helping out! He is so sweet! So are all the kiddos. Always willing to help out. Great work guys!
Can there be a later video showing what chicken lays which egg please? I just love your family so much, you guys are so incredible, the work ethic, the bond, and the love for nature. Thank you so much for all your videos I’m always happier at the end of the video then when I began watching it.
They are so light they barely even notice being moved around like that. It looks really rough and mean but they literally weight a couple ounces. Its why various birds who have nests really high up have their babies chuck themselves out of nests and are fine when they land.
Unfortunately, that is how it has become in such professions where you take care of hundreds if not thousands every day😢 Those chosen for the "White house on the hill" at least get a good home on their farm. Prayers to all the others🐣
Here in louisiana, we have a lot of hot days with no real winter. When i put chicks in my brooder, i plug my heatlamp into the thermostat for my seed starting heat mats, and place the probe just under their substrate. Works like a charm. No guessing.
We usually turn it on at night and leave it off during the day. But when we build a barn, we’ll include a chick brooder room and consider doing something like that.
Love watching how your family works together with all the birds. I’m looking forward to your new calf. Continued Blessings every step of the way as you develop your dream.
I really enjoyed seeing the whole cycle of chick to roaming adult. I'd definitely be someone who goes in to pick up 10 and leaves with 25 chicks😄 Great winter layout for the farm. I cannot believe how grown the boys are...and it's great seeing the whole family making the farm and channel successful. Thanks for sharing with us!
It's always a treat to see your family in action with your flock of birds and herd of animals, and Eli has turned into such a huge helper to have around. Uriah too! I'm so appreciative of your values and in awe of how you are raising such wholesome, well-rounded, pleasant children, and I can't wait to see all the different colored eggs that these new chickens lay! Of all the videos I watch on UA-cam, I like yours the best, keep up the good work all. Oh and ps can't wait for the aviary!!! A million thank you's for doing what you do and for doing it so well!

I like that you have all variety of birds and animals. Love watching your children get into the family chores. I wish I have a land and raise a family like that one day.
I’d like to see you and the kids make a wall shadow box of all the breeds of eggs so we can see all the colors you talk about. Kids can have fun blowing them out. 🥰 thank you for sharing your lives. I feel like I’m there with you!
Wire a dimmer switch inline to your heat lamp and then you will be able to control the heat better for the chicks. You can dim the lamp down or up with the dimmer switch.
It was fun watching the kids make that meal I like that it gives the kids a little bit of extra independence even though you’re helping them that’s awesome

Every year our local store has a "peep show" where bin after bin after bin of new peeps are available for sale. OMG it's so fun. We still attend though the pandemic left us in a small apartment.
I thought it was exciting seeing you choose your chickens and then seeing what they are growing into being. My daughter and I have had to move from our farm into another state and into the town, we miss all of our animals/family members (I was a terrible farmer, always wanting to keep everyone 😂) We miss our chickens terribly. (In Australia the slang term for chickens is “chooks”) 🐔🐣
It’s always so nice to see you and your fam doing everything together, but I must say that every time I get a notice of one of your new videos I’m hoping it be be on the grand opening of the new aviary. What’s up!?
What a great video who is the journey of a variety of baby chickens leaving the store and coming to your house and growing up to the stage there at where they can start roaming out on the grass and each of the children have their own favorite. What a beautiful and wonderful selection of color and style of feather and also feather on the feet…I know you ended up with more than you expected in terms of how many chickens you really wanted to get but as you look at them today I’ll bet you don’t regret Buying any of them, Do You??😊😊❣️❣️😊😃♥️😊❣️ I really love your videos and your family interaction. What a wonderful video. I enjoyed watching the kids with the animals so much! It made me nostalgic for when I was a kid on my Dad's farm and when my kids were growing up on ours.
Oh that was a lot of fun picking up all those baby chicks. I've never even heard of some of those breeds and they're also beautiful how do you pick a favorite? I cannot wait till the birds start going into the Aviary it is going to be absolutely amazing for them! And it's going to be very exciting for everyone else to actually see it for the first time. Cannot wait to see Dolly's little baby calf I hope it is a female
You are lucky to have nice weather and be able to wear a t-shirt at this time. People here in Canada are layering up as the cold weather has already started. Try using a timer for the heat lamps so you don't overheat them.
The kids had a great summer. They watched a whole new flock grow up. They get to see rotation of animals & crops. This illustrates the food chain. It makes a sustainable farm. For us we enjoy watching a working farm. I think is nice for me because it reminds me of my childhood. I get a few moments away from the insanity of the current culture.

We have a bunch of wild chickens in Guam running around all over the island. They are kind of dark where I live, purple iridescent. They are kind of blond near my favorite Mexican restaurant. They are all really big and tall. Their only natural predator are cats and tree snakes. I don't think the snakes bother them much.

I'll put my two cents in and say that the white peacock should be isolated. There likely is a disease or virus that he and his (sadly) deceased siblings have contracted, and he probably developed the antibodies to not be affected. It's unfortunate, but in my opinion, it is better to have one isolated peacock than a dead flock. Also, I personally do not know if you have any exotic vets nearby or if they would do a checkup on him, but if you can, I definitely recommend it. Best of luck with the peacock!
Oh my gosh! So happy for this video. We couldn't figure out what one of our random chicks were for the longest time and thanks to this we finally know, its a cream legbar. Sadly it is also a male which means all but one of the chicks in its group are male. Any ways, thank you and loved the video as always. PS Splash Cochins are my personal favorite. So from me and mama Waffles, it was so nice to see one added to the mix.
I spotted 3 cockerels in your group of young chickens. You already pointed out the cream legbar. The black copper marans and speckled Sussex both looked like males too. Also curious if you would be interested in some bobwhite quail or chukar in your aviary? I’d be willing to send you eggs next year just to see you try your hand at raising them.
