Sounds like a transitional song between the styles of The Warning and Rage For Order. I would have loved to hear this appear on either of them. That build up at the start had so much potential if they had taken it farther and polished up everything.
Thing1+2>I awoken on impact Thing1+2>underneath the cameras Thing1+2>taken by surveillance Thing1+2>ring any bells, Queensryche fans? Thing1+2>so yeah basically foreshadowing I don't Believe in Love, interesting
This is a morph of "Roads to madness" and "I don't believe in love" (Lyrics). Very interesting, I would guess this was written for "The Warning" and pushed and finally scrapped by the time "Rage for order" was being written.
Here's most of the lyrics. Now it's your turn to figure out the rest! Do it for Queensryche because they won't do it for you! :P I awoken on impact Underneath the cameras I was taken by surveillance Takes to make contact with you Quite a bit has changed From the last time we talked But that's all part of the plan And from what I've seen we're right on course Now I...I can still recall Your voice From when you whispered all Of this to me this here Shadows all a dream When you watch the TV You'll see There's something happening Scans and more tests Question our existence Why rely on fate when science connects Blame most of this I wonder what they'll find A lightyear from now Well they've filled the children's heads with lies In the name of God Believe me There's still so much to do It all Depends on every one of you to see things clear The way it all must be Just think how far we all could be With a new society If you could just forget the past and be free From The Darkside Will we ever be change Stop running from the pain From The Darkside
I got this demo about 15 years ago on a double compilation CD. I need to find it and see what other gems are on it as well. Rage was a album BEFORE its time in the industry I have always thought!!!
I bought a cd called "The Crown Jewels" with this and other demos on it off of ebay back around 1999. I can't find the discs anymore and the quality was sketchy on them. Every time Queensryche would announce a remaster or greatest hit with unreleased tracks I kept hoping this and songs like "Rage for Order" would appear.
i had all these demos on tape a long time ago, but they were stolen out of my car!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING THEM UP! gonn asee in the original "i dream in infrared" is here too! would pay to get them on cd! ;)
Thankyouthankyouthankyou!! I love this demo...I really wish that the band would go back to some of their demos and re-record and produce them. Thanx for uploading this:-D
Heidi Guitreau- damn girl u look like, at least by the photo next to your comments, Queensryche was assembled and dismantled before u were even born! SMOKIN though! at least judging by the 1,2 centimeter pic of u. But sososooo cool that someone (seemingly) as young as u to realize the flat-out greatness of that band. How their albums didn't sell 20million copies AT LEAST! and sellout 'FUEL' album by Metallinowshittyca did is beyond me...
Pretty amazing that this demo from the 80s is more enjoyable and more creative than all the albums since Mindcrime. Amazing and quite sad. Would absolutely love a full produced, mastered version of this tune \m/
Boy I would really love to hear this in really really good shape the part I got out of it is very telling I can see why Queen's Reich doesn't want to release this onto CD.
This song should have been on the record instead of “Gonna get close to you”…. I love this song and also The Dream which is another song from the rage for order demos classic QR style
Fits rather well with the overall atmosphere of "Rage." I could see this being polished up a bit and could have been a B-side at least. Great stuff! I still have my original RFO on vinyl from the Summer of '86.
Yeah this sounds like a song in development and got scrapped. Has a "Major Tom" feel to it at the beginning and it looks like Geoff used the idea in the first part of the lyrics for "I Don't Believe In Love" (I woke on impact-Under surveillance-From the camera eye....) Too bad this tune was not further developed, I bet it was constraint of time and not quite the direction they were wanting to go any longer. This should have been a song from "The Warning", it would have fit very well.
@CTeves97 yea, i just found this last night, and im back again to hear this and all these other "rage" era demos. i had no idea these existed on youtube! i find geoff tates geddy lee-like vocals unappealing, but i love the tension building, and the background vocals that were typical (and so good) on "Rage for Order". sorry to rant....!
@CTeves97 yes, i do like it, but i just dont care for the vocal quality geoff tate was going for. like i said, it sounds like a geddy lee impression. but ive been listening to the song 3 days straight, so i guess im hooked! a "new" old song by Queensryche - can life get any better? :)
There are definitely some QR songs in which Geoff's vocals sound much like Geddy Lee's vocals. Both Geoff and Geddy could really hit the high notes (especially early in their careers).
I dont think there is any secret that Geoff Tate has been listening to Rush. He talked about it in some interview. He praised some of their early albums. He seems to be a big fan.
Who wrote this song? If the whole band, maybe they could use this one for the next album? I mean the band, not Geoff. Geoff writes, plays and prefers a crappy style and sound since the mid 90s. Would be a great song on every album they released in the 80s and early 90s (including Empire and Promised Land). Those were the times......
It would be great to have a collection of unreleased tunes officially released.
Pretty cool. It has vocal sounds of the EP and warning as well as the undeniable rage for order. Nice surprise!
This song is so weird and wonderful. That chorus is haunting. Should have made the record
I hate how in 4:07 it skips.....PLEASE QUEENSRYCHE ...REMASTER THIS MASTERPIECE!!
Sounds like a transitional song between the styles of The Warning and Rage For Order. I would have loved to hear this appear on either of them. That build up at the start had so much potential if they had taken it farther and polished up everything.
Yes! And at the same time, the lyrics HUGELY prefigure Operation: Mindcrime, and some of the melody too. Awesome.
Just like "Chemical Youth (We Are Rebellion)" was a transitional song between the styles of Rage For Order and Operation Mindcrime.
Tate was simply amazing no matter what he sang back then wow...
AMAZING SONG FOR AMAZING BAND ❤️🤟 Geoff and Chris...The soul of the GREAT QUEENSRYCHE.
Totally agree
Great song.... Undeniably a huge RUSH influence here.
Thing1+2>I awoken on impact
Thing1+2>underneath the cameras
Thing1+2>taken by surveillance
Thing1+2>ring any bells, Queensryche fans?
Thing1+2>so yeah basically foreshadowing I don't Believe in Love, interesting
Setec Astronomy Thank you!
Recycled for I Don't Believe In Love! That's awesome!
This song kind of grows on you after a few listens
This is a morph of "Roads to madness" and "I don't believe in love" (Lyrics). Very interesting, I would guess this was written for "The Warning" and pushed and finally scrapped by the time "Rage for order" was being written.
Will we ever feel the change, stop running from the pain from The Darkside
Here's most of the lyrics. Now it's your turn to figure out the rest! Do it for Queensryche because they won't do it for you! :P
I awoken on impact
Underneath the cameras
I was taken by surveillance
Takes to make contact with you
Quite a bit has changed
From the last time we talked
But that's all part of the plan
And from what I've seen we're right on course
Now I...I can still recall
Your voice
From when you whispered all
Of this to me this here
Shadows all a dream
When you watch the TV
You'll see
There's something happening
Scans and more tests
Question our existence
Why rely on fate when science connects
Blame most of this
I wonder what they'll find
A lightyear from now
Well they've filled the children's heads with lies
In the name of God
Believe me
There's still so much to do
It all
Depends on every one of you to see things clear
The way it all must be
Just think how far we all could be
With a new society
If you could just forget the past
and be free
From The Darkside
Will we ever be change
Stop running from the pain
From The Darkside
Amazing, intellectual forward thinking lyrics

IAM SUPER PISSED THAT THE BAND DIDNT PUT THIS ON THE ALBUM!!!....IF THE LABEL DIDNT WANT IT I WOULDA FOUGHT THEM!!
i had all these demos on tape a long time ago, but they were stolen out of my car!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING THEM UP! gonn asee in the original "i dream in infrared" is here too! would pay to get them on cd! ;)
Just forget the past we could all be free, from The Darkside! From The Darkside!
Definitely a great sound. Guitar solo around 3:20 was nice. Metal with a hint of Pink Floyd's The Wall. MidKnightGeek - I couldn't agree more!
Thankyouthankyouthankyou!! I love this demo...I really wish that the band would go back to some of their demos and re-record and produce them. Thanx for uploading this:-D
Wow! This is very cool, I am a huge Queensryche fan and never heard these tracks before. Thank you for posting these, Geoff Tate is the the man!!!
From the dark side is awesome as HELL!!!

Really? She was born in 1975 jabroni
Das waren noch schöne Metal Zeiten!

MidKnightGeek
You're missing out on Promised Land, which imo is one of their BEST and MOST EPIC.
Will check it out Danimal thx ;)
@@midknightgeek6629 it's crap
@@Barbarian646 too complex for you
Right now there's still so much to do. It all depends on all of you to see things clear.

Wow, I never heard of this. What a great song. Are there other demos of unreleased songs?
This is pretty cool. I wish we could stumble on some high quality versions of these demos? Can you imagine how awesome that would be?
Sounds like a David Bowie-esque sound. Major Tom!!
This song should have been on the record instead of “Gonna get close to you”…. I love this song and also The Dream which is another song from the rage for order demos classic QR style
AMAZING SONG
whoa...🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
reminds me of what Rush sounded like around that time, right down to the vocals.
Rush sounded NOTHING like this in the mid-80's.
the progressive Metal is BORN with RAGE FOR ORDER.jeanluc GALIANA
Obviously the lyrics ended up in altered form on I Don`t Believe In Love!
This is a cool song, reminds me of Gonna get close to you a bit, has that Lisa Dalbello sound, completely awesome Ryche demo. Rage!
wow!
Fits rather well with the overall atmosphere of "Rage." I could see this being polished up a bit and could have been a B-side at least. Great stuff! I still have my original RFO on vinyl from the Summer of '86.
OMG~ This is true~ RYCHE ~ The whole time right in front of us- The time is now~ not before !! LOVE is knowing that ~ RYCHE ~ is given !

WOW!!!!THIS IS Q.R...I would have been happier buying these 2 unreleased demos..than D 2 CAOS...GREAT SONG!!..so is "THE DREAM" demo thanx.M.CTR
The way it all must be
A catchy song. It Would have fitted perfectly on Rage.
It would have FIT***** not fitted.
@@Danimal77 you´re correct, "fit." English is not my first language.
Major Tom
I love the part starting at 2:00

anybody knowing the reasons, why this song never released? It sounds great....

Why rely on faith when science can't explain most of this.
@jas22 u dnt like ths??
Dare I say it the whole premise of the Mandela effect.
***** 3:34 G5? Or is the G5 at 3:44 or 3:50? :S

Awesome sustain! What are the others then?
1651997 make sure to check these timestamps!
Just did - Holy shit! How awesome!
@rbrebrook ikr this is my fav song from them
Earth below us...
I wonder what they'll find a light year from now turning the children's heads with lies, in the name of God.
Sounds like Bowie
@jas22 ikr lol
Why does it show the Rage for Order cover?
Because it was a demo meant to be on that album but it was scrapped
devo all day.
Think of how far we all could be in a new Society
Sounds like a David Bowie song
I made a comment years ago about this song. I think now it would be a great song to cover with the new vocalist.
I wish that the new queensryche would finish this song.
You mean the cover band without Tate, Rockenfeld, and Degarmo?
Unfortunately they can’t they would need permission and approval from Tate /Dergamo and Rockenfield I would imagine
Sounds Like Getty Lee

I dont think there is any secret that Geoff Tate has been listening to Rush. He talked about it in some interview. He praised some of their early albums. He seems to be a big fan.
Good song but it was left of the lp because it doesn't flow with the rest of the album.
Had that futuristic sound like surgical strike/chemical youth and Neuge Regel imo ..to me this is better than Gonna get close to you any day !!!!!
3:34 F5 3:50 G5.
Tate was amazing back then. My favorite vocalist along with Dio
