  • I've spent nearly a month with the Apple Vision Pro, asking questions like, "is it worth the price, who even is this for, and what does this say about VR's future?" And while I don't cliam to have ALL the answers, I've come to some conclusions about Apple's first step into virtual and augmented reality.

My major disappointment with the device, is that a lot of the cost is because it has a cutting edge OLED screen on the front (plus heavy materials like glass to cover it) but they walked back their original concept of seeing people's eyes, atleast compared to the marketing (and the brightness and clarity was much higher during the pre-release events where people weren't allowed to use it yet). Running the 3D rendering of people's faces, that didn't meet photoreal standards, just wasn't feasible in this first generation. I hope they make a trimmed down version without the screen outside, atleast until the 3D holographic OLED tech is ready for the orignal idea they had in mind.

I love this review. You covered topics that concern the people curious about the AVP want, not the Quest. Many reviewers have made fun of Eyesight but you are the ONLY one who bothered to discuss why it exists and why it’s important that it’s there. Is it true both the glare and FOV are light shield problems? One expert measured the actual lenses and said they are actually the size of competitors lenses but the shields block the view. So many opinions out there, I wish Apple would speak out about some of these controversies. I’m so glad you kept it! So much of your feedback and opinions will determine what the future devices will become. Hang in there, people will find you and appreciate your viewpoints.
If you get the chance, check out a loooong review by an expert who explains many of the features and their problems from a scientific but understandable approach. His channel is Adam Savage’s tested. I think if you know why some things are happening you might be able to eliminate those situations.

      Thanks for watching!
Yes from what I can tell, glare and FOV are products of the light shield. You can get a wider FOV by going without, and I tried this briefly. But it's extremely uncomfortable, and it mars the experience in other ways (all the light leakage makes the video worse). It's clear Apple didn't design the Vision Pro to be worn this way, so I didn't get into it... I wanted to focus on Apple's intended use in the review.
I'll definitely check out the Tested review. I don't watch other reviews before I publish one as I don't want their thoughts to affect mine.

Smart move not to wear the AVP without the light shield! I’d be afraid both my eyes and the lenses might get damaged. I’m thinking if the problems are due to defects in the light shield, they are basically accessories and Apple could create better ones fairly quickly.

Hi, thanks for sharing your views. I'm staying with the key word "agony", which sounded like came from deep inside... your pocket maybe? with that 1Tb storage haha. Srsly, congrats on your channel and of course on your APV!

Well, the price is painful yes. But trust me when I say the agony of wearing this thing for eight hours far worse! 😆

@@anoraker I can barely wear my Quest 3 for 45 min. I can’t imagine an 8 hour session! But can’t wait to sell my kidney for when AVP arrives to eu. xd

Oh yeah, I wouldn't recommend wearing the Quest 3 for 8 hours either... I've done that too. It's much better weight distribution, but still horrible on the eyes. Someday maybe... @@ElectricVRoom
