Was just watching a Japanese Mangaka use a tab mate. Little did I know the 8bitdo controller I bought for Smash would work just as well. You are a lifesaver.
glad that I could be of help
Definitely got a subscribe from me.
I got it to work on PC but for some reason my IPad pro wont let it connect on Switch mode or Bluetooth mode though it detects it on both. Dont know if this problem is common.
I have trouble with connecting 8bitdo lite on my ipad, i think this might help

"Now you can speedrun your art just like the pro Mangyatas!"
now lives rent free in my head. thankyou.
You're welcome
Thanks for the video, it motivated me to go out and buy 8bitdo lite controller for a shortcut remote. It's awesome that stuff like this is possible, way cheaper than buying a wacom express remote which has less buttons.
Glad I could help!
This video is so hilarious OMG. BUT THIS IS ACTUALLY USEFUL CONTENT! I didn't know I can use my 🎮 controller for Clip Studio, and now I have a perfect excuse to have it in the office. Thank you! 😺
Glad I could help!
awesome review brother! love it.. you have a follower for life
Thank you so much, glad you liked it
I bought the smaller one from that controller and it works well cause it fits the hand well, although i would have prefer if had same amount of buttons has that one, but still i think 8bitdo really nailed with this products cause it helps us artists.
8bitdo designed the controllers for portability, so yeah its ergonomically good.
@@thescribblemedia i do think they could implement a on and off button on the smaller one which is very possible, cause for example i use it has keyboard mode and to turn it off i have to press Start, which isnt really ideal.
This works great with a generic Joycon aswell, its awsome!!
Yes, any controller will do as long the OS can read the joycon
Very innovative
I miss the Tabmate... I no longer use CSP on desktop and now its subscription. 😢 But man do I miss that glorious remote. I wish someone would invent one for iPad. I currently use the 8bit-duo mini in keyboard mode with Artsudio Pro (on iPAD) and I love it, reminds me somewhat of having the Tabmate, with just much less shortcuts. I got 16 to work on it though which drastically improved my workflow.
maybe in the future updates they'll add the tabmate to the ipad csp version, but I think the alternative for now is using your phone as a shortcut device, there's an update on the csp that you can use your phone as a shortcut device.
As for the tabmate or any alternative, yeah it really helps you with the workflow especially if you have a tight deadline.
@@thescribblemedia yeah, I really wish Procreate would add customizable shortcuts, because I love their brush engine and the simple interface.
Ooh gotta try this first before I get a tabmate. Hope it works on osx. Thanks for the idea!
Wonder if the ones with joysticks work too. 🤔
Hi, thanks for checkin’ out our video, the thing is, joytokey app is not available on osx but there is an alternative, USBOverdrive, you might want to check that out
Would be cool if you have a settings-file and a list for your controller keys with the functions. 🤗
Thank you, the documented blog post with settings is posted on our website you can check the updated description. www.scribblemedia.ph/post/my-diy-clip-studio-tab-mate-8bitdo-lite-controller-setup
@@thescribblemedia unluckily no settings file could be found

Stick 1 down - marquee
Stick 1 left - watercolor brush
Stick 1 right - pen

Stick 2 left - real pencil

a - brush up
b - erasers
y - rotate
@@thescribblemedia Yeah, thanks that will do. ^^
Yo this is neat! I'm really tempted to buy this for its advantages but I've never used a controller, so I'm not sure which buttons to use for rotating the canvas and changing the brush size. I was going to get a macropad with two knobs so if you could let me know which keys can have that similar effect, that'd be great!
If you want a controller to have a knob-like button try the updated 8bitDo Lite controller it has a analog directional stick controls or maybe you could use a keypad with a knob, check out our last keypad review with knobs
@@thescribblemedia oh sweet I'll check out both of these solutions, thanks for the reply!
@@naruuwo no problem
I own an 8BitDo Lite. It works as a wired controller using the USB-C charge cable, so you don’t need the 8BitDo Bluetooth adapter.
Its not viable for the way I hold the controller, since I need to grip the whole device with my hand without any wires attaching to it, and if I opted for a wired controller 8bitdo wouldn’t be my ergonomic choice since the wire port is blocking my gripping style
@@thescribblemedia Fair. But it’s just factually incorrect to say that the 8BitDo Lite requires a Bluetooth connection to work. Plus, any generic Bluetooth dongle should work with the 8BitDoLite.
@@haleyhalcyon it's not factually incorrect, since my PC doesn't have any Bluetooth capabilities, what better way to connect Bluetooth and to use it for certain without any complications by using 8bitdo brand
@@thescribblemedia It’s factually incorrect to pay that the 8BitDo Lite requires a Bluetooth receiver, because the 8BitDo Lite works as a wired controller as well.
I'm hesitating between this 8bitdo and a customized numpad. What would you prefer ? One is put on the table, the other in the hand. I'm not sure what I prefer for long drawing session...
It really comes to your preference, but IMO I like the numpad since I can put it in the table and let my arm rest, the controller has an advantage though, you can use it if you have minimal space like if you have no space for an extra numpad/keyboard.
How are the ergonomics? are the buttons reachable on the thumb?
As for my hand, yes they are reachable. There is a smaller 8bitdo controller for smaller hands though, you can check out 8bitdo zero 2, it works in pc and the ipad too
got my 8bitdo, how do you map the opacity or density of the brush so I can cycle through them when pressing 2 buttons? I use paint tool sai btw
Actually I haven't tried paint tool sai before, but in csp as far as i know, you can assign density through the shortcut settings
i have the smaller version buti’m tempted to get this version too. is there a way on ipad to assign to a button the shift key?
I haven't discovered any app that will make the shift key usable, but what I use at the moment is the hidden/retractable shortcut bar on the left side of csp ipad, it has a some shortcuts that are not customizable on the keypad
Does the changes in windows carry over to android?
I think so, honestly I haven't tried android os yet, will try it out in the near future
Hallo scribble media. Did you tried it on Android or is there a way to remap the buttons on Android?
There is one for android?
I'm sorry but I haven't tried any android yet
sadly it doesn't have scroll wheel or something similar.
Yes, this is the only downside for using controllers as tabmates, but still I don’t use scroll wheels for shortcuts, so its good for me hehe
You can map a couple buttons to the scroll wheel using JoyToKey. If you get the Lite 2, you’ll even be able to use the analog sticks for analog scrolling.
@@haleyhalcyon you can map the scroll wheel but what the op meant was there are no physical scroll-like features on a controller since it is used on animation often
