Most recently... "Oh hey, Mega Man Legacy Collection on Switch! And it's a physical copy, too! Awesome! Oh wait... only Legacy 1 is physical, Legacy 2 is still download only. ...Then why did you even put this out, Capcom? How hard was it to put BOTH out on the same cartridge?"
Sad that Alpha 2 and 3 only have the original arcade roster, the console updates really helped the roster. Capcom didn't thought of including an option to enable Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3 Upper Max for the roster and gameplay balance.
Zero 2 Alpha in arcades originally had the arcade music. Since Alpha Anthology was all ports, they were able to use the remixed soundtrack on it. But I remember a lot of people not liking Gold because of the numerous nerfs that happened to characters.
They want arcade perfect so...ay(shrugs)...and most ppl didnt really play SFA3 Upper in arcades(not to mention Guile/Blanka/FeiLong/all the console exclusive cast were ass tier)
Why is it that EVERY one of these rereleases misses SOMETHING? How hard can it be to just make sure that all the content people want is in there? It's already a rerelease, it isn't that much more work...
Agreed. The artwork is nice (though probably best in digital format where copy and paste is more of an option) and the sprite viewer is a neat idea. Still casual and hardcore players will want a range of modes and to make the prior console releases and rereleases completely redundant even if the original Arcade release is perceived to be better balanced. I see them trying to pull a middle ground by implementing inputs to access certain modes or features but that is still inferior to an actual menu by a large margin. Secret inputs for a few secret characters or costumes but extending it to the whole game is a mess.
its like in the PS2/Gamecube/OGbox era, their collections whether it be both Street Fighters and Megamans were done completely right imo...idk how they overlook that in this generation
This makes me wish SNK would do the same but with KOF. So far it looks pretty epic. But not feeling the bland arcade only approach. Let's hope some features get added before it drops.
Jeak Lion ctfu I don’t remember the arcade port having when I was a kid did you?😂😂 That was this game it’s a collection of vanilla versions of the game
I like the idea for the collection, but I don't care for "Arcade Perfect" crap. I much prefer the best version of each game, you know the one with the most characters and modes.
I can't understand it. Capcom has spent two straight years licking their wounds because they refused to give us the fleshed out options that we've come to expect from games nowadays. What they thought was going to be an easy pay in SFV cost them a great deal in terms of revenue and in terms of Face. ... And they just go and do it again? Hey Capcom. Keep your twenty different versions of Street Fighter 2. Give me a training mode. And you know what I've been wanting for years? A "tournament quest mode" for Street Fighter like they had in Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution. Where they took the top players of certain characters and captured their game play and made it specific AIs for each character. Imagine being able to fight Kokujin's Dudley or Diego's Ken whenever you want? That would be absolutely amazing.
Yeah, I typed that on my tablet. didn't notice the autocorrect until you pointed it out though. Eh, let it rock. Fought like hell to get Kokujin in, though.
RevolutionCPT how is it that you summed up all of Capcom's problems in 5 minutes and ways to make the collection better that Capcom couldn't figure out to fix in 2 years?
No training mode is probably the dumbest thing they could do wrong. Imagine being a new player, hearing there's an entire modern collection you can grab then loading it up and seeing there's no fucking training mode for you to learn the games.
SFIII still looks incredibly good to this day. That animation work is just outstanding! I wish they'd still make hand drawn 2D games today. With HD sprites, that would be amazing.
It is hands down THE most beautifully animated 2D game of all time, imo. The only game that might have finally surpassed it would be Cuphead. Maybe. And Skullgirls came very close, too. But other than those no game is even in the same stratosphere in terms of 2D animation. Wish Capcom could make 2D games with that much love and attention to detail nowadays :(.
VacíoPE Nice sprites, and good animations, but not really at the level of Third Strike. KoF 13 XIII is a perfect example of having nice HD sprites, but not necessarily the best animations. Good animations for sure, but not fantastic like Third Strike. Plus, the fact that they drew the frames over the animations of 3D models, rather than do everything by hand, is pretty visible. And a turn off for me personally. They tried to hide it by limiting the frames they drew, but it still doesn’t look as good as if they’d just done everything by hand from the beginning. Still a pretty game, though.
Play Undernight, or any French Bread developed game for that matter. That's a small team making some of the most beautiful looking sprites in fighting games. They have a lot of pride in their work, they deserve the love.
I think they should've just released Alpha 3 Max with a good netcode and some graphics filters, and release 3rd Strike the way it was before but with a better netcode and maybe a custom pallete editor.
Sigh. Even when Capcom seems to have something awesome, they still manage to mess it up. I just wish they included Alpha 2 Gold and had arcade perfect gameplay, but included the home console features that people loved.
Johnny Herrera but they absolutely did... Having no training mode would be a fuck up of major porportions. And if you have ever tried Alpha 3, you will know how many awesome modes that game has, and it would be idiotic to not include them. This arcade only bs turn this from a must buy into a never buy at all, for me.
sukkerkram no one mentioned alpha 3 though look at the comments and who hasn’t played alpha second I highly doubt this is the final version of the game this game doesn’t come out for another two months nor did we see the online portion everyone needs to chill and not get their panties in a bunch
BarnstormNZ I am happy that they are porting the original versions. But I also love the features they introduced in the ps3 version of Third Strike, like the challenges where you can even recreate that classic Daigo moment from Evo. I used to spend hours on those, it's a lot of fun! Plus, they could ad some customizing options, how cool it would be to create your own set of colors for your character, like in Kof XIII? I get that the games are the most important part, but things like that would add a ton of value to an already fantastic package!
Im actually insanely depressed that Alpha 3 aint gonna include any of the extra characters, world tour, and other modes included in the later console versions after the original arcade release. Always wanted a re-release port of Alpha 3 Upper with online support but seems like that ain’t gonna happen :/
Lightbringer Pretty much. Upper 3 did technically get an arcade port though and since these are really just arcade ports, it still doesn’t make sense why they didn’t bother to just port the Upper version. Plus they ported like multiple SF2 versions so they could have just ported the original arcade mode and the Upper version as separates from how I see it
mrninjadeegan i know right Ingrid , Eagle , Maki , Sodom , and some of the others that were on that game was dope as hell I really wish they can remake it
Wow, was really hyped for this, now just really deflated. It's essentially just fight Cade. Surely they must know people just want the full experience of each game with online extras. Kinda a no brainer surely.
My inner nostalgia is already going to kick in big time. 12 different Street Fighter games with some that are online focused. It's going to be a big celebration for me.
MegamanNG Facts B. Capcom is on a roll right now but I hope that doing this will open up more possibilities. Like a Marvel vs Capcom collection. From, X-men Children of the Atom, Marvel Superheroes, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Superheroes vs Street Fighter, and Marvel vs Capcom 1& 2 ya feel me
That's what I hope for. If they do that, it'll be a pure utter win. After all Disney now owns Fox meaning they got the X-Men characters. If there's any time that they should do this... it's now.
Tfw when you've been excited for this game for months and then capcom can potentially fuck it up and now you're sweating cause capcom finds a way to fuck up everything
You can buy the 8bitdo N30 arcade stick with optional Bluetooth connection. They're easy to mod with legit Sanwa or Seimitsu parts and I didn't notice any lag when playing on my PC either! If you prefer pads, the 8bitdo SFC30 Pro is an excellent option as well.
Sounds like I'm not putting away my Xbox 360 after all. Thanks for the information Max, I'll keep an eye on it, but from what information you're giving us, I'm not sold on it.
I feel like people are still going to be playing that version over this. That version has all the PS2 additions like the training mode, combo challenges, and selectable soundtracks, while this you are limited to just the arcade version on an emulator. Honestly would have preferred a straight port of online edition.
Want the arcade version, but WANT THE CONSOLE FEATURES.... the fuck... i dont remember having training in my local arcade, play vs player 2 and thats your training... This is sarcasm in case none of you gets it...
This... is honestly pretty worrying. It just doesn't seem like these are very complete games. They didn't show off training or versus? No benefits of the console versions? Like... this seems like the perfect chance to have a definitive edition to all of these games in one package, but they're going to skimp out on it...
Just imagine if they'd given us the best versions of each game with all the console content and online with good netcode. The response would almost single handedly pull their reputation out of the gutter, for rehashing a bunch of classic games with a bit of love. But it seems they can't be fucked to even do that right, it's so disappointing. I really wanted this to be great and for them to show how much they give a shit.
I can understand having arcade-perfect versions of the games, but Third Strike Online exists; I don't understand why they can't include that version instead of stripping everything away. I can already play all of these games with online with Fightcade, so Third Strike Online/USFII would be huge value adds
I really hope that they eventually add Alpha 2 as an option for online play in a later update. Also, is the art book that was included in USFII in this game?
That would be redundant. The most logical thing to do would be to make only the latest games online. Why would they waste the money and resources for servers they know won't be as populated as the later entry? I sure as hell wouldn't do it either
A2 and A3 were very different. SF2 and SF3's updates were improvements. A3 was a different game. Back in the days, you had A2 and A3 players. Both games were at tournaments at the same time. A2 survived a few years after A3 came out.
JELIFISH19 A3 was such a departure from A2, I remember revolting on the inside when that game first dropped because of how radically different it was. It’s like going from X-men children of the Atom, to Marvel Superheroes.
The Vampire Collection on PS2 were built around the arcade roms and you could even chose the revision through a secret menu, it had option menu, a good training mode, added even more TURBO speed for all the games and it also added the unplayable characters for Vampire 1 (Pyron and a complete version of Phobos/Huitzil and an extra secret character for Vampire Savior). Same goes for the Alpha Anthology wich ran on the same built "emulator" the Vampire Collection ran on, so if they don't include those modes in the 30th anniversary collection it'll mean they just didn't wanted to because it's definetly possible and it has ben done already 2 generations of consoles ago
Capcom did those PS2 collections in house. Digital Eclipse ain’t EVER going to be doing anything like that. Matter of fact, they’re more concerned about it being a digital museum for the games than they are actually having a playable version of any of those games.
Weird they didnt ask them since some member of Iron Galaxy wants to port Monster Hunter World to Switch. If not its cool since Iron Galaxy is busy with developing "Extinction" atm
GhostFrom ThirdStrike seriously why can't Capcom make consistently good decisions? Did they just get lucky with SFV Arcade Edition and Monster Hunter World?
Iron Galaxy would just screw it up just as bad as Backbone/Digital Eclipse. These two firms do not create content, they can only EMULATE from existing ROMs.
Roger keyword "existing" most of these games already have existing ROM. The only ones that would be difficult to port is The Original SF3, 2nd Impact and SF1. Even then, it's not impossible to get those games polished and put in the collection.
@Maximilian Dood So~ I guess (for example) is that Alpha 3 is not going to have the console/handheld version characters? I hope the final version has Options, Versus, etc.
I know the training mode thing is a bummer currently but this could be signaling that this is an actual "arcade perfect" port. Like i thought that was gonna be BS but now I got my hopes up that it is actually arcade perfect!
It's fucken emulator wrapper that play CPs2, cps3 roms at best here. Nothing extra added aside from useless overlays, artworks (museum). They could have picked the best version of each game. For example they should have ported Alpha 3 MAX version from PSP with all extra characters instead of just straight up CPS2 arcade version (or perhaps they could have used the Naomi arcade version which is Alpha 3 upper which is much better than CPS2 version IMHO). But no, crapcom would have handed their license to those third party company which they pay fuck all to them, look at the menu designs with all the glossiness and no style, etc.... I dont high hope on this release as basically on the stuff can be acquired by other mean either via Emulator on your PC or get yourself an actual arcade board. Tournament version viable? doubt it, people would not treat this version as tournament viable version.
The main reason this collection probably works at the budget and in the schedule they have is because all they had to do is create a CPS1,2, and 3 emulator. As much as I’d want SFA3 Max and the home version extras of Third Strike, those games would have to be ported. Needless to say, the collection would take much longer and it would no longer be cheap for Capcom to produce. Gone are the days where they would do what they did with Alpha Anthology and make amazing arcade accurate ports with a million options and then some.
It's what many of us feared. The collection is a good idea on paper, but the problem is that the more prominent games in the SF series had upgraded versions with significant upgrades from their vanilla version. SF2 has Hyper AE, HD Remix and Ultra. SFA2 has Gold. SFA3 has Upper Max. Third Strike has Online edition. As it is right now, there's no incentive to get this collection when you can pretty much get the same experience on Fightcade.
I wouldnt mind if they put that extra stuff (training mode etc) in only on the online ones, I am still hyped to get this. I have got rid of all my old consoles due to moving and space issues, so cannot wait to have these all in one set.
Raiden3651 They could at least add them as side versions, kinda how like SF Alpha Anthology, where if u pressed select plus any button, you could play the Upper, Gold, Hyper, etc versions of them
My concerns since this collection was announced was Versus Mode and Training Mode, but ALSO Alpha 3's roster. I don't care if we don't get the GBA and PSP additions because those were just...thrown in. But I'd like to have Guile, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, Fei Long, and Evil Ryu in Alpha 3 especially since they have respective themes and stages for each of them. Because 3rd Strike was also going to be from the Arcade, this meant that we are probably not going to get the updated OST that the console version (i.e. Dreamcast, PS2) gave (which also added a 3rd Round theme for each stage where as the original only had 2 round themes and the 3rd round in-game repeated the 1st round theme). I'm hoping we get some of this, but if not, I'm a little concerned and disappointed. Keyword(s): A little.
I hadn't even thought to wonder which version of each game would be included here. Kind of surprised they went with the initial versions and not the latest revision of each. Informative review, thanks for posting!
"No training mode, no buy" "Alpha 3 does not have the extra characters" "It's not the OE of 3rd Strike" They said arcade perfect when Capcom announced this, even though this version of Alpha 3 isn't exactly perfect. Look on the brighter side: Switch version.
A Switch version doesn't mean shit if the Switch controller simply does not work for fighting games. And there is no brighter side, and we shouldn't allow Capcom to get away with such low effort like this. If there's no training mode for any of these games, they're just throwing all the arcade ROMs onto a disc and selling it to us for $50
I'm not buying it anyways, since I have none of these systems. Also, Capcom should just stop making fighting games. It's kinda obvious that they're not putting much effort into them since SFV.
Ah miss Street Fighter alpha 2 gold cammy and Street fighter alpha 3 upper I wish update versions character guile fel long deejay T.hawk balrog juli juni eagle maki yun and ingrid arcade more ps2 and psp too excellent work capcom give we want it.
DUDE! Being able to look at 3S's animations frame by frame would be a fucking delight. That game seriously has some of the best 2D animation EVER done in videogames.
Was going to be a day one purchase for me, but Capcom drops the ball yet again. And I thought they were starting to redeem themselves with MHW. Guess that was just a fluke. Messed up MVCI and now this.
Raymond Valentin here's a rule of thumb for dealing with capcom. Its ALWAYS one step forward, five steps back. Always expect the worse. Abandon all hope.
Speaking only for 3rd Strike, honestly prefer the Iron Galaxy version so much more. Visuals, sound effects, music, etc. Just my opinion; loved watching Max play that version so much more.
Oh hell yeah. SF Alpha 3 online multiplayer that's just one complete reason right there to buy this game and you get the cherry on top which is 3rd Strike it can't get better than that. Edit: WTF No training mode. Capcom man you had me for a second but what the fuck are you doing? Just like arcade mode training mode is a must have for this game. Please capcom slap yourselves. This game better be 30 bucks tops. Look...Capcom just give me a Onimusha collection and Mega Man X collection we got too many Street Fighter collections already. This better be the last Street Fighter collection you guy's drop.
I'm a little bummed that Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3 Max weren't included, but I'm still psyched for this! I'm looking forward to finally playing New Generation and Second Impact!
They need to have full customization. Music, modes, characters, character colors, artwork, everything. If not, I may as well just download an emulator and play on GGPO.
Honestly not buying this. I love SF as a series but I have zero hype for a collection of straight up Vanilla arcade ports of games I’ve been playing to death since the early 90’s and can play just as easily and accessibly on Fightcade now. Why not FINALLY giving us Alpha 3 MAX on something else other than the PSP as just one example? Who wants vanilla A3? Could have at least been A3 Upper, and where’s Alpha 2 Gold?
Well Fightcade isn't exactly legal and not everyone might have a pc that can run it effectively or maybe they fear the roms might have viruses. For people concerned about that kind of thing they can get this official collection here
Yea I can understand that, I just feel like for me personally it’s just not really worth it. But yea if you have no other way at all to access these games then I guess I could understand. I feel like they could have done more with this tho. To add insult to injury the majority of these games aren’t even going to be playable online. Just a select few. What’s the point when I can play every single one of these games online in Fightcade? Capcom could have and should have done better.
I think 🤔 Alpha 3 Max with online support with be good enough to stand on its own if it had HD visual updates and Capcom knows that. They would never through that in a bundle. It’s going to be available one day.
They look more smoother with better graphics by adding the scan lines. The third strike online edition was a little blurry and does not look good, but the version in the 30th anniversary looks way better. Can't wait for 29th of May.
This ain’t early days though, they have less than a month and some to get this in finished state and get reviewed by the console manufacturers and ESRB before they go gold. This is probably not going to be far off from what you’ll actually get barring some minor tweaks. As far as what Max was saying about Super Turbo... looks like USF2 won’t be put away just yet. At least it has a training mode, among other things.
Ralph Pollard well damn that sucks, I was never buying this anyway but I still like sf games and comics. I could see 3rd strike having more daily players than sf5
i don't understand you peeps, we are literally getting the vanilla version of each game as capcom said and to be frank i am happy that this is what they are doing, yes it is the vanilla version and for some it can be bland but this is the anniversary collection that showcases how each game came to be if they put the updated version of each game then it wouldn't be arcade perfect "except for A3 upper" which got a release on the sega naomi hardware. As much as i like the updated version of each sf game, as i own the sf collection on saturn which comes with alpha 2, gold and sf2. having the updated version wouldn't give out the arcade feel of putting in a quarter and playing the game then getting your ass kicked and improving after playing for some time. i would agree that a training mode of some kind should in the game for new players that wish to get to grips with game and want to play online such 3rd strike not get their ass kicked and drop the game after for losing over and over or for A3 for learning ism mode such as v-ism for custom combos which they might wanna lean so they won't get bodied. But imo the updated version of each game should be an unlockable type thing just like the alpha anthology that came out a few years back. that's about it i can't complain the game looks ok, what more can you ask of a collection that gives 3rd strike and alpha 3 online.
Markell Hawthorne yeah, I think I’m gonna do the same. Might pick it up for $15-$20 though .... probably will be just a few months after release it’ll drop that low anyway due to shit sales because of the lack of features. :p
I wish They didn't just use the arcade ports of every game. I understand it would be hard to make a proper UI for every game, but I feel like at least a few major entrys with updated or at least home console UIs would really improve the overall experience instead of feeling like a bunch of kind of lazy ports.
Should include a bunch of extra colours for characters (good ones) colour swaps for levels and include BGM select where you can use different versions in different games. PLEASE DON'T FUCK UP 3RD STRIKE.
Netcode. Also: there are loads of ports that are 'rips' of games that turn out to be badly done. Also: I'm comparing it to previous iterations that we've had with improvements to the single player, training mode, combo challenges, extra features and colours etc. In terms of console releases of the game, it would be a step backwards to not include those things. The arcade version is great, it's what I started playing when it was released but that was 19 years ago. Could use an extra coat of paint at this point to spice things up, no?
This is the rom on an emulator, Online Edition was more of a port of the PS2 version of third strike. I don't think this is going to have any of the additions from online edition.
covfefe Even if it has bad netcode, it's not going to ruin third strike. Remember the netcode from the Xbox version? Somehow, Third Strike survived. And I really don't care if you're comparing it to other console versions or whatever, the idea that releasing the arcade version of third strike fucks up the game is laughable.
I'm personally happy that it is a direct arcade port. As many quarters I have spent over the years, I feel that FINALLY Capcom has given me what I've always wanted. All I need now is an Arcade Stick with a Bat Stick with Concave buttons.
Geez capcom you had 1 damn job....1 use the latest versions of the games. Only capcom would choose to release older versions of their games instead the superior versions.......DAMN!
Kaihedgie READ THIS CAREFULLY how about not assuming ppl didnt see arcade being "perfect" aint enough. Its ppl like you who are complacent with companies like capcom doing the bare minimum with things why they dont try to be better with stuff like this
I'm not worried about having no Training Mode since I own every game in this collection already for previous systems (Sega Saturn, mostly). With the Dreamcast adapter coming from Brook in May, I can train in 3rd Strike no problem.
There is such a thing as valid criticism though... And these games being arcade versions is stupid, especially since they're including online in 3 games. So this is just capcom going backwards yet again... Smh.
Going from what Max has told us, am I the only one that would like to see Alpha 2 Dash and ST Grand Master Challenge as dlc a bit later down the line? I'm definitely not complaining about this, we are getting a lot of good stuff here but I think if you really want to round out the collection, then these two versions of the game are iconic enough to merit adding in.
I think that I'm gonna like this collection, even they go on a vanilla version it's because they're Arcade Perfect gameplay, I wouldn't be surprised if there are unlockable features just like in the past. Also, even without Versus Mode and Training Mode (hopefully which they will add later) you can press Start on Player 2 with no worries, and you don't have to control Player 2 to practice combos and cancels just like Training Mode. But the best training is to face the opponents and learn some techniques. Good for new and past players, even they're pro or not. Edit: Versus Mode has just added, let's hope for Training Mode and maybe Trial Mode
That's a little sad that 90s SNK is being more consumer considerate then 2018 Capcom I mean I love SNK but that shouldn't be the standard you fail to meet
I would commend them for remembering the Switch but this just makes me more angry about what happened with the Disney Afternoon Collection so I'm still gonna have to say "Fuck You Capcom" regardless....
Wow my excitement for this collection went from 100 too 50 after this video. I was hoping it was going to port third strike online edition with all its stat tracking and training modes and rankings and all of that. Knowing it’s just going to be arcade versions of everything is only cool for anything before the alpha series. After that the console versions had more depth and options and characters and versatility. There’s something offputting about just firing up a street fighter game and going right into a fight. We have to be able to make tweaks and adjust personal preferences. Oh well I’m still getting it in May but my hopes for this being mind blowing amazing just went down the tubes
I hope that Capcom release this for when it was announced for, then work on adding cross platform between all platforms, and if it's not possible, then between pc and another platform, add cfn (like in sfv, especially replay search), game lobbies, stage music version select for games that have had music upgrades (like in sf2 turbo: ps2 arranged music, PC music, cps1, cps2, hd remix and usf2 music) 2,3,4,5,6xbrz filters, adding alpha 2 online, and maybe work towards making the other half of the fanbase happy. I'm still glad they decided to release it for PC anyways.
Looks awesome. I can't wait! Soon I'll have all my favourite versions of each Street Fighter on the one console (PS4). - Super Street Fighter II: Turbo - Street Fighter Alpha 3 (a shame it isn't Max like the PSP version though) - Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike - Ultra Street Fighter IV - Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition
Im assuming the final build of the game is gonna start on that main menu where you'll pick Arcade, Training, Vs, Online, and Options and choosing any of the ladder 3 will take you to the game select screen where you'll pick the game and get taken to the respectful mode. Hopefully. Also, thank god I'm getting a Brook Universal in my stick soon.
About that tournament mode, it’s NOT new. It’s actually SSF2 and it’s Tournament Battle ROM being made available on Switch. And it’ll work just like it did there. This is probably more for preservation than practicality but hey it’s there and it’s remembered.
max be honest, you know this was half ass on capcom's part, tbh they should have let iron galaxy take the collection an make it with all the features....im pretty sure what we are seeing now is what we get sigh
Iron Galaxy was able to do what they did because that version of Third Strike was a port and not an emulation. Even if they were contracted to do this, they probably wouldn’t have done any more than this too.
Carl Bloke because emulating 12 games between 4 hardware systems and porting 12 individual games are vastly different things. With this it’s essentially writing 4 emulators for three arcade systems that by and large have extremely similar spec and one for SF1. Ports are much more time consuming, matter of fact this is why previous SF collections only featured two to four games at a time. Though, those ports could be feature rich because they were made to run on that specific platform from the ground up. Third Strike Online was as good as it was because they only had to focus on one title. Tell them that they have to port 11 others with it and I guarantee you the workload would be unrealistic for the time frame, especially with having to support four different platforms.
I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom didn't include versus or training mode in the final product...
RandomBlackGamer I hope you wrong about that bro it wouldn’t be as wavy as it would have been
I hope I am too. But it just seems like something Capcom would do just to make a profit by adding it in later.
Training mode is part of the season pass since they cant install new characters into the old SF rosters bruh.
$20 dlc per mode
NinjaGuy9000 (...boozes...)
lol there is ALWAYS a catch with capcom.... ALWAYS
Jonathan K see my comment at the top of this vids comment thread. 🤣
The most infamous Capcom screw ups have been Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, Street Fighter X Tekken, Dead Rising 4, Street Fighter V, and Resident Evil 6
Logan Not the one from Marvel also the god awful DmC reboot
Boonehams man that's so dumb even for Capcom
Capcom after SFV Release: “What? People miss the arcade mode? Alright.”
Capcom after SF 30th Release: “What? People don’t just want arcade mode?”
Luis Posos capcom is a fcking troll
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sad that Alpha 2 and 3 only have the original arcade roster, the console updates really helped the roster. Capcom didn't thought of including an option to enable Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3 Upper Max for the roster and gameplay balance.
Alpha Anthology was better and that came out a decade ago.
Gold just ruins A2 to me for like 1 character. Sorry, but original A2 is much better.
Евгений Черкесов no, it's not. Alpha 2 "Gold" has better music, and is more fun to play.
Could be a cheat code to access them in the final port
Zero 2 Alpha in arcades originally had the arcade music. Since Alpha Anthology was all ports, they were able to use the remixed soundtrack on it. But I remember a lot of people not liking Gold because of the numerous nerfs that happened to characters.
My only disapointment with this game is that alpha 3 wont include the extra carecters on the console versions
Kevin Hernandez Facts bro that Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma will definitely be missed smh
Kevin Hernandez yeah I want fei long and a finished Balrog
They want arcade perfect so...ay(shrugs)...and most ppl didnt really play SFA3 Upper in arcades(not to mention Guile/Blanka/FeiLong/all the console exclusive cast were ass tier)
Raiden3651 de jay and fei weren’t that bad
I really want Ingrid from alpha 3 max so bad to play online
Why is it that EVERY one of these rereleases misses SOMETHING? How hard can it be to just make sure that all the content people want is in there? It's already a rerelease, it isn't that much more work...
Yeah dude you're real edgy
"isn't that much more work" is not a thing in game development.
But I agree no extra features that were in other ports is a really bad sell
its like in the PS2/Gamecube/OGbox era, their collections whether it be both Street Fighters and Megamans were done completely right imo...idk how they overlook that in this generation
Because if they want to make a new port with added modes you wouldn't buy. CAPITALISM
This makes me wish SNK would do the same but with KOF. So far it looks pretty epic. But not feeling the bland arcade only approach. Let's hope some features get added before it drops.
JET MAXIMUM90 snk is past due for another dream match. They have added sooo many characters. They could easily mix the old and the new.
I can’t see them doing that, especially with the Hamster arcade archives releases out there.
I can feel my hype for this package...slowly dying.
timmer919hep my hype is already feeding maggots
for me it was #1 most awaited game in 2018, now its number 4 after RDR2, SC6, God of War
SHIN BAKI HANMA did Capcom just get lucky with SFV AE and Monster Hunter World?
Well, this WAS going to be a day one purchase. But now, I'm DEFINITELY waiting to see the final product. This looks like the barest of bones packages.
No training mode is very disappointing imo
Facts! 💯💯💯
Season pass
No training, No extra modes, No buy.
the key word you're missing is "YET". there's no training mode in the early build, but they may add it later.
Jeak Lion ctfu I don’t remember the arcade port having when I was a kid did you?😂😂 That was this game it’s a collection of vanilla versions of the game
Thats actually extremely disappointing, damn
I like the idea for the collection, but I don't care for "Arcade Perfect" crap. I much prefer the best version of each game, you know the one with the most characters and modes.
Strider-Ragnarok exactly
That would be too much work for Capcom. They're too busy swimming in money
I died at Diego
Yeah, I typed that on my tablet. didn't notice the autocorrect until you pointed it out though. Eh, let it rock.
Fought like hell to get Kokujin in, though.
RevolutionCPT how is it that you summed up all of Capcom's problems in 5 minutes and ways to make the collection better that Capcom couldn't figure out to fix in 2 years?
No training mode is probably the dumbest thing they could do wrong. Imagine being a new player, hearing there's an entire modern collection you can grab then loading it up and seeing there's no fucking training mode for you to learn the games.
TeryonTheHuman exactly, I hope they see the outcry and atleast include a training mode for the games with online modes
There wasnt any training mode in the arcades
공전A2KJAY27 but this aint the arcades. The options people are asking for are decades old standard features. Nothing difficult.
Hopefully this isn’t a final build
For me it's absolutely a deal breaker among some other stuff
SFIII still looks incredibly good to this day. That animation work is just outstanding!
I wish they'd still make hand drawn 2D games today. With HD sprites, that would be amazing.
Hynad ME TOO! From the 90s to the early 2000s were when Street Fighter was on FULL GLORY!
CrossfacePanda what about Kof xiii
KoopaKingdom So basically, Ultra Street Fighter Alpha.
Sigh. Even when Capcom seems to have something awesome, they still manage to mess it up. I just wish they included Alpha 2 Gold and had arcade perfect gameplay, but included the home console features that people loved.
StaticShock42 They didn’t mess up shit just because they didn’t put what you wanted😂😂
Johnny Herrera but they absolutely did... Having no training mode would be a fuck up of major porportions.
And if you have ever tried Alpha 3, you will know how many awesome modes that game has, and it would be idiotic to not include them.
This arcade only bs turn this from a must buy into a never buy at all, for me.
sukkerkram no one mentioned alpha 3 though look at the comments and who hasn’t played alpha second I highly doubt this is the final version of the game this game doesn’t come out for another two months nor did we see the online portion everyone needs to chill and not get their panties in a bunch
good thing this isnt the final build (as max stated several times during this video)
What you mean? They're using the arcade roster of Alpha3 instead of the console roster which really sucks.
Well, not as hyped now. Why can't Capcom put a little more effort and give us these classic's definitive edition?
Rogerio Silenti what's definitive thou? If u didn't play the arcade versions u might think the console versions are better
Definitive to a lot of serious players is the arcade version. That's why ST is at tournaments instead of HDR.
BarnstormNZ which they are. And even then the ones on consoles WERE in arcades so there's no excuse
JELIFISH19 definitive to a lot of players is the console version since it had better features dude
Im actually insanely depressed that Alpha 3 aint gonna include any of the extra characters, world tour, and other modes included in the later console versions after the original arcade release. Always wanted a re-release port of Alpha 3 Upper with online support but seems like that ain’t gonna happen :/
It's an ARCADE MODE.
Lightbringer Pretty much. Upper 3 did technically get an arcade port though and since these are really just arcade ports, it still doesn’t make sense why they didn’t bother to just port the Upper version. Plus they ported like multiple SF2 versions so they could have just ported the original arcade mode and the Upper version as separates from how I see it
@@CallMeSugarMilk they got Lazy lol I still enjoy it from time to time
I want alpha 3 max that was for the psp
Yeah right? That game needs to be released.
HELL YEAH!
Why is that buried on that dead handheld still? BS
mrninjadeegan i know right Ingrid , Eagle , Maki , Sodom , and some of the others that were on that game was dope as hell I really wish they can remake it
Yep I'd like to see it merged into Hyper SF Alpha that was on ps2. So we have a complete version.
Wow, was really hyped for this, now just really deflated. It's essentially just fight Cade. Surely they must know people just want the full experience of each game with online extras. Kinda a no brainer surely.
Some time ago I'd say: "Don't worry, they will add Versus 100%!"
But we all remember SF5 vanilla, don't we?
how are you right there and miss to ask those important questions ? :/
Evan Kihlstadius that's capcom's M.O.😉
Oh god, this is gonna be so lit, i cant wait for this to come out!
Getting it for PS4 and Switch. I've wanted a portable 3rd Strike for years, you have NO idea.
I get why they never ported it to PSP/Vita, but at least with Switch, you can plug in a pad/stick with a usb to type c converter and practice anywhere
FuturePants I am well aware with of the FBA emulator for the PSP, however 3S was virtually unplayable. Fighters on a tablet aren't comfortable IMO.
Son Goku i don't think you wanted it without training mode and various other STANDARD FOR FUCKING DECADES home console options.
Raiden3651 no, you have to buy a specialized switch only fightstick or buy a third party dongle to use your own fightsticks and controllers.
Im Really Gonna Miss 3rd Strike: Online Edition. I Wish That Version Was In The Collection Too.
Alucardjr69 Seemed more like a beg & complain rather a joke, lol.
Ryborg max said it.... not me. I just added the "training mode" part wich is how you use to learn if you couldnt learn by arcade mode.
Alucardjr69 I’m sorry, but you didn’t put quotation marks.
Ryborg so? Must i beg to be forgiven?
Alucardjr69 No
It looks like they're not adding the psp version of sfa3 which is sad...i really enjoyed playing as Eagle Maki and Fei long
Psycho Fury Or they might...but knowing capcom, they're gonna charge us for additional versions, patches, soundtracks, settings.
This... is honestly pretty worrying.
Dean Avery ikr
I can understand having arcade-perfect versions of the games, but Third Strike Online exists; I don't understand why they can't include that version instead of stripping everything away. I can already play all of these games with online with Fightcade, so Third Strike Online/USFII would be huge value adds
I really hope that they eventually add Alpha 2 as an option for online play in a later update.
Also, is the art book that was included in USFII in this game?
Doesn't look like it.
The thing with A2 online, is that the top 80% of players will simply be piano kick Rolentos.
Why didn't they have Iron Galaxy do the online version? I'm hoping to God that they didn't screw up the netcode on 3rd Strike....
Weird they didnt ask them since some member of Iron Galaxy wants to port Monster Hunter World to Switch. If not its cool since Iron Galaxy is busy with developing "Extinction" atm
GhostFrom ThirdStrike they did screw up the online. Just wait for the reviews. This is how Capcom operates.
Alpha 3 was one of my fave games on the PS1, loaded with modes and characters that aren't in the arcade version. That should all be here IMO

Unfortunately playing with the Joy Con must be terrible. I wouldn't buy a fighting game on my Switch...
Victor There are pro controllers and fightsticks my guy.
VmoneyP yeah dude i know, but you end up losing the portability aspect.
Victor
Tabletop with Pro controller loses portability aspect?
VmoneyP Yeah, a little bit, you can't play in tabletop mode everywhere.
@Maximilian Dood
So~ I guess (for example) is that Alpha 3 is not going to have the console/handheld version characters?
I hope the final version has Options, Versus, etc.
I know the training mode thing is a bummer currently but this could be signaling that this is an actual "arcade perfect" port. Like i thought that was gonna be BS but now I got my hopes up that it is actually arcade perfect!
We also need a HD version of Capcom vs SNK 2 with online option! Very difficult to get people to play locally now.
Third Strike, my favorite game of all time!
So it's looking pretty mediocre so far..... Good job Capcom.
Right?!? What is wrong with these guys? 😔
Nice profile pic.
Lord. Unless the game is delayed, I wouldn't count on the Final Build being much better than this...
This collection sounds lazy
kagato0987 it doesn't just sound lazy, IT IS LAZY. Capcom's specialty. 🤣
I have got rid of all my old consoles due to moving and space issues, so cannot wait to have these all in one set.
mattrutland what systems and games you getting rid of??
Already got rid of, sorry.
My body is ready.
My bank account is not.
Why would they stick the vanilla vers. of the games???
UGHH! I'm kind of dissapointed now.
ROOTZ MAGAZINE its Capcom, what do you expect?
Needlecrash To pay for vs mode, balance patches, characters....
ROOTZ MAGAZINE facts bro but at least they doing it tho ya feel me but I feel what you saying tho smh
Cause theyre going for arcade perfect. Not console. Console exclusive updates can screw with a FG's meta.
Please don’t ruin alpha 3
Please don’t ruin alpha 3
Please don’t ruin third strike
Please for the love of Christ ruin third strike
I hadn't even thought to wonder which version of each game would be included here. Kind of surprised they went with the initial versions and not the latest revision of each. Informative review, thanks for posting!
"No training mode, no buy"
"Alpha 3 does not have the extra characters"
"It's not the OE of 3rd Strike"
They said arcade perfect when Capcom announced this, even though this version of Alpha 3 isn't exactly perfect. Look on the brighter side: Switch version.
A Switch version doesn't mean shit if the Switch controller simply does not work for fighting games. And there is no brighter side, and we shouldn't allow Capcom to get away with such low effort like this. If there's no training mode for any of these games, they're just throwing all the arcade ROMs onto a disc and selling it to us for $50
I forgot, these comment sections are toxic to anyone with any kind of optimism.
Yeah bro I'm sure that's the problem
PhantomBladerX yeah sure. Enjoy your half assed vanilla ports you can just play on fightcade for free
C'mon Capcom don't screw this up
SHIN BAKI HANMA I see what you did there with dmc4 reference ;D
Instantkill 😆🤣😂
SHIN BAKI HANMA Man I'll buy this used for like ten bucks when it's out.
SHIN BAKI HANMA lol
I'm a little bummed that Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3 Max weren't included, but I'm still psyched for this! I'm looking forward to finally playing New Generation and Second Impact!
Full stop no training mode is a nightmare for any fighting game. It's not 1992 behind your grandma's laundromat.
People are complaining about no training mode? Back in the day, we used to pump quarters in a cabinet for the "training mode." :P
"Arcade Perfect"
I really like the little bit of info as you scroll over each game of the year and what type of hardware was used
... I knew it. They found a way to fuck it up. No Fei Long in Alpha 3? Next thing you'll tell me it's download only.
No
Enigma2K99 abandon all hope. Final build of the game in vid.
They need to have full customization. Music, modes, characters, character colors, artwork, everything.
If not, I may as well just download an emulator and play on GGPO.
Honestly if there is no training mode in the final build i kinda dont have a reason to buy it.
Especially on PC.
That third strike animation is legendary.
Exactly. This was honestly a waste.
Capcom could have and should have done better.
the legend
Marketing, my friend, it’s called marketing. Money
Sounds like they ain't doing it right, early days tho
cattus stroffic hopefully they get everything like practice mode and player vs situated along with a great net code to give us a great collection
Garth Whitely me too and replace vanilla Alpha 3 with Max
Carl Bloke I wish they would remake alpha 3 max and thirdstrike background colors sprites and all
And it's so crazy that Max was talking about this since last year and it's about to finally come out soon and Max by the way great videos
Cvs2 and mvc2 hd is all i want
i don't understand you peeps, we are literally getting the vanilla version of each game as capcom said and to be frank i am happy that this is what they are doing, yes it is the vanilla version and for some it can be bland but this is the anniversary collection that showcases how each game came to be if they put the updated version of each game then it wouldn't be arcade perfect "except for A3 upper" which got a release on the sega naomi hardware.
The fact that these are all vanilla versions is a huge turn off for me. Sorry fellas, but I'll be skipping this one.
Very true, I really liked SF3: OE's features. They should've just ported that to the new gen consoles _first_ before getting into this collection.
This reasoning (from customers) is why Darkstalkers is dead
Markell Hawthorne damn straight. So am i.
Markell Hawthorne yeah, I think I’m gonna do the same. Might pick it up for $15-$20 though .... probably will be just a few months after release it’ll drop that low anyway due to shit sales because of the lack of features. :p
Vanilla? What does that mean
PLEASE DON'T FUCK UP 3RD STRIKE.
covfefe It's an arcade rip. How are they going to fuck it up?
Yeah, if the netcode is better than Online Edition, I imagine most people will switch over regardless of the extra features that had.
Read carefully
*Arcade Perfect*
Kaihedgie READ THIS CAREFULLY how about not assuming ppl didnt see arcade being "perfect" aint enough. Its ppl like you who are complacent with companies like capcom doing the bare minimum with things why they dont try to be better with stuff like this
I'm not worried about having no Training Mode since I own every game in this collection already for previous systems (Sega Saturn, mostly). With the Dreamcast adapter coming from Brook in May, I can train in 3rd Strike no problem.
Capcom deciding wether to make practice and training mode paid dlc
That would be so absurdly funny and evil at the same time
I would laugh in a fit of rage
Just the jolliest of anger imaginable
I'm really happy to know that what we are going to get is the arcade versions of each game, that's awesome!!!
edrez1 you didnt have them already? Why?
Nice to know the FGC is complaining already..
Ranuyasha that's what we have to do to deal with the sloth known as Capcom.
No training mode = NO BUY.
Edit: Versus Mode has just added, let's hope for Training Mode and maybe Trial Mode
come on capcom, snk had menues with training mode ect. in their neo geo arcade games in the 90s in aes mode, put some effort into it
liquidfabi that’s because the Arcade ROM and the home game are literally identical and all that stuff was programmed in right from the start.
Ralph Pollard yeah i know, what i am saying is snk got that right in the 90s and if Capcom cant do it in 2018 thats sad
That's a little sad that 90s SNK is being more consumer considerate then 2018 Capcom
I mean I love SNK but that shouldn't be the standard you fail to meet
If I wanted to play without versus or training mode. I will just continue playing on fightcade, no reason for buying.
I would commend them for remembering the Switch but this just makes me more angry about what happened with the Disney Afternoon Collection so I'm still gonna have to say "Fuck You Capcom" regardless....
Terry Jones i approve of this comment
Wow my excitement for this collection went from 100 too 50 after this video. I was hoping it was going to port third strike online edition with all its stat tracking and training modes and rankings and all of that. Knowing it’s just going to be arcade versions of everything is only cool for anything before the alpha series. After that the console versions had more depth and options and characters and versatility. There’s something offputting about just firing up a street fighter game and going right into a fight. We have to be able to make tweaks and adjust personal preferences. Oh well I’m still getting it in May but my hopes for this being mind blowing amazing just went down the tubes
So they're literally selling us arcade Roms....
Mastalon Yes? That's what the games are. That's like complaining a games company is just selling you an exe and data files for a pc game.
Mastalon EXACTLY. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY'RE DOING. AND CHARGING YOU $40 FOR INFERIOR VERSIONS OF GAMES YOU ALREADY BOUGHT SEVERAL TIMES.
Solidus_Edge why buy when you can download? Get it now?
Dexter Garner Why buy any game when you can torrent them for free, then?
SHIN BAKI HANMA what if I never played any of these past Street Fighter 2? Looks good to me.
I was excited for nothing. Might as well stick to mame/fba/emulators.
I'm still glad they decided to release it for PC anyways.
i was planning to buy this game, Now im not, Thank you for helping me dodge this bullet, max
Looks awesome. I can't wait!
Soon I'll have all my favourite versions of each Street Fighter on the one console (PS4).
- Super Street Fighter II: Turbo
- Street Fighter Alpha 3 (a shame it isn't Max like the PSP version though)
- Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
- Ultra Street Fighter IV
- Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition
Max is there a option to take off the screen borders?
There is.
Bummer.... Just release online edition please
Tha Likely Lad you mean, RE-RELEASE🤣
SHIN BAKI HANMA of course :)
Vice this is the final build of the game. Make no mistake. Max ain't gonna jeopardize that free Capcom swag he gets in the mail. 😔
Iron Galaxy was able to do what they did because that version of Third Strike was a port and not an emulation. Even if they were contracted to do this, they probably wouldn’t have done any more than this too.
Ralph Pollard so what? Then IG can just use the ports? Why would Capcom fire them for making the games better?
Ralph Pollard thank you for explaining this, it makes sense
