I just started playing The Takeover. Good option for a beat 'em up.
Scotty P is the only Beat'em Up for me thus far. I'm just waiting for Shredder's Revenge to change that fact.

Hi guys here's my honest opinion. Mayhem Brawler is a decent game & there's fun for upto 3 players locally, but no online Co Op play! Online Co Op would've really elevated gameplay & helped due to the tough enemies that regenerate way too often.
The game is definately worth buying on sale. I say this as l have over 20 + brawlers in my switch collection. I will add it once its half price.
Moving on, if you haven't already got SOR 4, you owe it to your self to get It. It's easily the best online brawler on switch imo - yes even better then Scott Pilgrim& that's a cult classic with 4 player online Co Op & lots of cool content. If you loved the SP movie & want 1 off the best cult classic brawlers, get SP, it's really awesome.
SOR 4 is the complete package & easily my pick for best Switch brawler. It offers amazing content, an add on DLC & delicious online / local Co Op play with lots of unlockable characters from older SOR games, retro filters, survival modes, boss rush etc. Yes l'm an old school brawler veteran & highly recommend SOR 4 to everyone.
Next up is my personal favourite-The Take Over.
This is a visually amazing brawler & a pure love letter to the legendary SOR series. It has huge sprites with superb animation, the art style is vivid, with smooth gameplay & the enemy rosta is very varied.
It has 2 player local Co Op play, 3 fun characters which mimic SOR 4 & many levels 2 play. It's a shame no online play was included. I champion online as my m8s aren't always free 4 couch Co Op. Online brings us all together in the same game.
The replay content is good & the excellent tunes are by industry legends, Yuzo kushiro, Richie Branson, James Ronald & Little V Mills.
I would highly recommend to both Fans of classic 90's brawlers, SOR series & newbies alike will love TTO.

Streets of Rage 4 was one of my 1st pick ups on switch (being I am a cough, cough certain age) so Mayhem peaked my interest. I think this won't be taking Streets of Rage's place in my collection anytime soon but still looks like a decent effort. Cheers Glen.

I like the choices mechanic and the comic visuals that carry the story along. Looks great👊🏽

@@SwitchUpYt , here is the thing, all games of this sort are derivative, as they all stem from Karateka, Nekketsu Koha/Hot-Blooded Tough GuyKunio-Kun/Renegade, Double Dragon, and Final Fight, so if you plan on making that kind of label for this game, then you should also be honest and do so for all of the other ones since then, including the sequels of the Kunio-Kun, Double Dragon, and Final Fight video game franchises.

The comic style is great but every beat 'em up ends up feeling lacking after playing Streets of Rage 4.
You ever play the capcom dungeons and dragons beat em ups, so many secrets items weapons and steet fighter like special moves, cool art style and branching paths
I found SoR 4 to feel very floaty and unsatisfying, but maybe that's been patched up somehow?

Side scrolling beat em ups the stuff of my childhood. Yes I still suck at them lol. Great to see them still being released. Excellent video Glen.
Looks like something that will hit a sale quickly. More beat-em ups in my pile is nice when that time comes.

Streets of Rage 4 meets Bright
I’ve enjoyed the first two levels, but it’s not at the level of SoR. Biggest gripe is not having a simple move to hit enemies behind you. Love the urban fantasy aesthetic though.
Level 5 basically spoilt the game in terms of it really challenging the big boys for me. Still a fun time but not on that level for sure. Agree about the lack of a backwards hit move too. Glen
Definitely interesting. I’d pick it up sooner if it had more content, but it’s on my list to get eventually.
I'm pretty sure the character Trouble is a reborn Abraham from The Walking Dead. I did like how the choices you make have an effect on what stages you can progress through. Also, props to the DEVS for jumping into a genre that is already laden with some heavy hitters in the Beat'em Up category.

The animation is not working smoothly, special effects is not good. I think they didn't take their time. Yet I will give it a shot.
I don’t really play a lot of beat em ups (the only ones I really own/play are Super Crush KO and Streets of Rage 4) but this one does seem to have a lot of potential. It has some nice visuals and a decent story premise. But given the drawbacks that it has, I think I’ll be sticking with SOR4 for the time being. Thanks for the video.

I kinda get why people say this looks like SOR4, but animation wise SOR4 is on another level. Even the character designs and backgrounds in SOR4 are much better.
I wait for the spiritual heir to the Battletoads - Arnold Bounty Hunter. There is a demo in Steam - quite cool, and the characters are charismatic, especially a girl with a katana.

Animations seems a bit lacking otherwise seems like a decent alternative to Streets of Rage 4.
I'm glad that this turned out well, but honestly, from having not a lot of options for beat 'em ups a few years ago we've gone to a place where there are a kind of a lot of good options right now. I'm still quite happy with the newish DLC on Streets of Rage 4 for the moment. No need for more right now.

Interested in the difference between, say, 16/20 and 17/20
played it , didn't like it , characters with super power but you don't really feel it . basically a downgrade version of Axel stone , Max and Zan. but it's really not a bad game if its released before SOR4
The Takeover is the most underrated beat’em up on Switch.
Looks like Streets of Rage 4. Im assuming Streets of Rage 4 has better mechanics though. I'll hold off. I still have to dive deeper into SOR 4 and the new DLC.

Game looks great, although I feel it would benefit from palette swap options, to provide more diverse options for character choice.

Why are all these kind of games so short? 7 levels?!? Same with streets of rage 4, which was far too short with really limited enemy types. I'd think when you have stylised graphics, 2d gameplay and limited mechanics, that the developers would be able to give a lot more content in these side scrolling beat em ups. Is it one person making these games there's just very little content in all of them.
This looks like a straight-to-VHS clone of SoR4, like we used to get in the 90s with big action movies.

I’ll get it eventually but I’ll hang onto my money for now for that streets of rage dlc. Can’t wait for that. Also we need an update on the new turtles brawler!!!

I hate when companies literally copy another game. Streets of rage 4 is the superior game and no point in playing this game. No question you can get good ideas from other games but when you copy almost 100% from the other its just bad.

I don't know what to think about this game. For 4-6hrs in total to see everything and to ask 20€ is kinda too much for me.

man I badly want to be excited about this game but it feels so incredibly uncreative. They pretty much copied Streets of Rage punches and kicks and moves just as clunky. It was great then but now it feels so dated, and there has been far better beat them ups since then
I already have several of these games and don’t feel this is different enough at this point. That’s a shame because it looks pretty good…

Its very much a Street of Rage game, I think I will wait for a refuse before I get it.
I remember in the 80's when the first Double Dragon arcade cabinet was unveiled at my local Arcade. Don't play brawlers much anymore unless I'm helping somebody beat Turtles in Time or some sh*t. This looks a bit generic to me.

beating the game is not everything, like back in the day they beat turtles by using jump kicks which to me is boring

Nah...this feels like such a rip off, I don't feel comfortable buying it. The level with the fire truck looks JUST like Chinatown in Streets of Rage 4. Nah not gonna get it when I know SOR4 is already the superior product.
IDK. It looks good but after playing SOR4, Fight 'N Rage & The Takeover; this one feels a bit flat.

Looks polished but forgettable. More of a chore than fun. I'd rather play final fight again.
