I was lucky to see Garbage in a small club in Aspen a few years ago and they were great. Still one of my favorite bands.

I just finished watching the Netflix doc about Woodstock 99. I want the HFStival documentary, about how we all went, kicked ass, didn't burn anything down, and had a blast.

Found your channel after seeing you with Black Pumas. Loving it. How do you not have 100k subs? Do you have another channel also?

Oh, the irony. The previous record label was putting pressure on the band to sell more records when it is the record label's job to sell the records. The band's job is to make them. And now Mr. Waugh hasn't been adequately serviced with the full album by the current record label. From my experience, too many people want to be a part of the music industry (as I am as a player and a major brands marketer) because it looks to be 'really cool' or a 'lotta fun'. Those people - and as I noted, there are too many of them - suck the air out of the room. I suppose the good thing about the failings of the first label to push Garbage to even higher success or at least maintain what the band achieved with the first couple albums has proved a blessing in the longer run by forcing the band to 'own' their future rather than being dictated to by a boardroom filled by numbers people intent on preserving their jobs, scoring a bonus...or simply being the big shot because 'Hey, I'm friends with the band.'
As always, Shirley is wonderful. Sharp, articulate...and oh so real and empathetic. The rapport here was casual and warm, though the questions were, I feel, a bit soft and similar to what we hear in her other interviews (and right now there are many happening). Somewhat ironically, one of the very best interviews is with a vibrant young Italian woman for whom English is a second language...yet her questions and responses to Shirley's answers are great. She and Shirley really sparked. Possibly it was a woman-to-woman thing. Or more likely she recognised the opportunity to tap into Shirley's personal interests and emotions.
Still, any interview with Shirley Manson is a good interview, so thank you.

The entire dynamic of the record industry has changed.
The people who buy albums (in any format) are dieing off.
Artists receive almost nothing if they release their material digitally. The money is in tour and merchandise now which is a drag to many artists.
Many of the greats hated touring.

@@waltercoyle6393 Yes re: changed dynamic. Yes re: album buyers dying off (I'm still alive but there is very little for me of interest to buy). And yes, artists earn little from digital, though record companies and the digital sources are making fortunes. Not so sure about the touring. True, things got to the point where the likes of David Gilmour said 'no' to further Pink Floyd touring because it took three years out of his life. If the music industry and a lot of artists weren't so greedy, they could do smaller tours and tour more often (i.e. with breaks between and much less stress, as bands used to do). The industry became too much of a behemoth for its own good.

      @@MrCherryJuice I agree with you.
I was thinking about bands at a much lower level. 1000 seat theaters. Bands coming up.
It is not a good time to be a mainstream musical artist or actor.
