That Irish-language song is absolutely beautiful and her singing voice is absolutely beautiful as well.

A very good voice, an interesting voice range and a song sung without accompaniment, excellent work.

This is an absolutely lovely performance. She is one of my favourite singers. I can’t help but notice that the way it’s been recorded is creating an unusual effect. It sounds like there are two input channels: the direct sound from the vocal mic and then a microphone (or microphones) in the hall to capture the room ambience or reverb. I think that there is compression on the vocal channel but not on the reverb. As a result when she’s singing softer in her lower register we hear the direct sound but not much reverb, but when she sings louder in her upper register the vocal part is compressed and we hear a lot more reverb. When listening carefully, especially on headphones, it sounds like the room she’s in is changing, or that she’s constantly moving closer and further away. This isn’t meant to be a criticism, just an observation. It in no way reduces the beauty of her singing, but it is a little bit distracting when you become aware of it. In any case, thank you for this wonderful video, and please give us more gorgeous singing from Nell in the future!

She's incredible. I first heard her performance of "an lacha bhacach" a little over half a decade ago during a phase where i was getting into sean nós. I've always come back to her ever since. Such a captivating, haunting and beautiful voice. Very few singers can give shivers unaccompanied like she can

Very, very lovely. I got chills. Thank you so much for sharing and thank you so much for singing in English as well. Also for having both (?) sets of lyrics in the video notes.

You're very welcome. This song is what's called a macaronic song, which means that it is bilingual. The song features verses in both Irish and English.

Just so you know Holbytla the English verses aren't direct translations of the Irish verses, in case you are a learner using them for learning.
