I have had one (Sunbeam) for 14 years and only used it a few times. Hauled it out of shed 3 days ago after it sitting for 10 years. This recipe has given me encouragement as we are going to have chicken tomorrow night. What a wonderful coincidence. It looks freaking delicious. Regards from South Africa
Had both this and a new wave. We wore both of those out to the point where the plastic bowl became warped, but we loved both. However this seems to actually cook better than the nuwave. Plus it lights up and the nuwave does not. This not only cook extremely well but it also adds a nice fancy light to the kitchen when lit up.
Thanks so much for your great comment & I'm so glad you enjoyed my video. I hope that you may enjoy some of my many other videos as well. My Mashed Potato video is a great timesaver, have a look at it.
Thanks for your feedback Honeybee & I'm glad you enjoyed the clips. I just use this unit the same as I would any other oven & cook the same dishes that I would have done in a full size oven.
Grace - I purchased mine at Aldi but they do not have them all the time. Just like a lot of their products they get them on a rotating cycle so you need to keep a lookout in the Aldi catalog for your local store to see when they get them in next.
thank god for the internet & people like you helping with these things. I was wondering why mine wasn't working and I then realised that ( after you told us ) that the handle has to be down before it starts cooking lol. No directions came with mine :-( thanks so so much :-)
Hi Lori, so glad to hear that you enjoyed my clip & that it was helpful to you as well. I'm sure that you will now be churning out great meals from your oven. Let me know how you go......Steve.
@@Ozbullwinkle Actually, the potatoes are high carbs once they hit your body they increase blood sugar levels your body will break down the carbs into simple sugars be released into bloodstream and cause a sugar spike. The fat from the chicken is actually healthier provided its a free range, organically reared etc. Too many potatoes are actually bad and cooking without the skin on is yikes!! worse, the skin contains more nutrients???
My Convection Oven is not an air fryer but I love all Aldi products like your Ambiano. I would suggest that you phone Aldi's telephone help line or go onto the Aldi Lovers Facebook page where other owners of air fryers like yours would be able to help you as their may be a phone support number in the booklet too.
Priscilla Mathis no trouble, glad to help. I hope you enjoy some of my other videos too. I suggest checking out my mashed potato method, a huge time saver & no need to peel & never any lumps, it is a great method.
I will be posting some more recipes in the near future. In the meantime you may like to check out my new video on how to do mashed potatoes without the need to peel or boil the potatoes.
I guess I missed it, but exactly how long did your cook the potatoes on the top rack? Although a different model of halogen air fryer, I have one presently on order and I find a lot of videos with good recipes to ponder over making. I also have an Instant Pot Omni Plus air fryer and an Instant Pot Duo, so I am running out of counter space to keep all my various goodies in. :-) I am anxious to get in the oven and see how it compares to my other machines. Thanks for the videos. My wife likes tender chicken and I too like it a bit more crispy. I am going to try to find a good recipe for potato boats and cottage fries for this machine soon.
Thanks for watching. The potatoes take about 30 minutes. Some potatoes brown better than others so just cook them till they are the colour you like. It is good to put a little bit of oil on them, I use olive oil on mine. You can also speed up the potato cooking by pre cooking them a bit in a microwave too. I hope you enjoy some of my other videos as well. My Mashed Potato method is a real winner & a great time saver, check it out.
Hi Adeline, yes this same oven is still going strong in 2021 after cooking many hundreds of meals. Thanks for commenting. You might like my mashed potato video too its a great method & a huge timesaver.
Rab carn - I tend to cook my chicken longer than a lot of people as I like it to get to the stage where the bones just pull out of it and it is extra tender. It all comes down to personal taste.
Rab carn - also, the potatoes are not cooked for the same length of time as the chicken as they are put in towards the end of the cooking process. If you want to make the potato baking time even quicker you can put them in the microwave whole first to cook them through then cut them into 4 when putting them in to the convection oven.
+Pillip Wright Wright the oven is from the Aldi supermarket & their brand is Lumina. They don't have them all the time, usually they come in about twice a year so you need to keep an eye on their catalogue. Glad to hear that you liked the way I cooked the chicken as well, nothing like the meat falling off the bone is there?
Thanks for uploading the recipe. I got yesterday AMBIANO convection oven for $25 bucks. Killer performance. no different than NuWave. Time will tell how long it last. comes with 3 year warranty. cooked chicken parts similar to yours . Fries, cheese sticks and pizza all turned out good.
@@Ozbullwinkle Mate, are you sure you are actually going to get into heaven?? Secondly...you need to do proper research you're still eating like in the days of 1976 and the lying food pyramid scam...yeh and half a grapefruit and low fat margarine is good for you! sheesh! sorry not picking on ya but you are severely misinformed...
Hi Mike, the rub on the chicken is simplicity itself. I just use one of the jars of Tandoori Marinade that you can get at the supermarket. I find that if you can marinade the chicken overnight in the fridge this is best for a more flavour.
Thanks, it is so tasty too. It is really simple to do, I just use one of the jars of Tandoori marinades you get from the supermarket then leave the chicken in the fridge for at least a couple of hours, I leave mine overnight I also sprinkle a bit of Paprika on it as well.
Zameer Ahmed I personally would prefer to cook a steak in a stovetop pan as you normally wouldn't cook it in an oven. But saying that , the convection oven certainly would cook it so you could give it a try. Halogen ovens use halogen globes which produce heat as well as light but my oven has an electric fan forced element in it which is the difference. You can see the electric element at the end of my Honey & Soy chicken drumstick video.
Thanks for your comment & I hope my video helped you. But, have no fear, a convection oven is really no different to a normal oven, just compact. Just choose the appropriate temperature & cooking time for what ever you are cooking & away you go. Let me know how you go.
Good to know, I just bought an Otto 705 convection oven, looks just like yours. I am in Thailand and I am trying to find videos or any sources in English on how to cook with one.
These is nothing mysterious about a convection oven just use them like you would use a normal oven. Mine didn't come with any recipes either, you don't need them, just start cooking.
Ann Marie, they take about 30 minutes or so depending on their size and the temp you are cooking at. Another tip is to microwave them whole first before you cut them up which makes the roasting time in the convection oven much faster as they are already cooked and just need to get golden brown.
Thanks for commenting, see the answer to your question in one of my replies to the other comments. Keep a lookout for my new Banana Bread clip which is uploading right now.
I just bought a convection oven like yours. I have been unable to find information about what food containers I can or cannot use safely in the oven. For examples, crockery plates, plastic boxes, greaseproof paper, So please, do's and don'ts about that. Thank you. Also I can't find anywhere if one can cook rice - ordinary boiled rice in the convection oven. Any ideas?
Hi Chris, thanks for viewing my clip and your comment. You would use any ovenproof containers or dishes that you would use in a normal household oven and the silicon cake trays and loaf pans would also be fine. Certainly not plastic boxes though.
Ozbullwinkle I'd just bought one as well. But I've read in some message boards that cooking food in foil would ruin the lighting mechanism in the oven. Is that true? Have you tried cooking any dishes wrapped in aluminium foil? Would love to hear your experience.
My oven has an electric element. Yes you could use foil but I have moved away from wrapping my food in foil & now use baking paper instead which I believe is a healthier alternative.
Hey OzBullwinkle, thanks for posting your vids on the oven & cooking. I'm in the USA, am looking at the Oyama turbo convection-same thing, does not have the halogen bulb either. I think they get too hot, dry out the food. The NuWaves aren't halogen either, guy on youtube did comparison w/Flavorwave (has halogen), steak juicier from NuWave. I don't like the Nuwave's plastic dome. I've looked at these glass ovens for a few years. :'( Well that's enough-this video will have me taking the plunge, will probably order this week. I think the close up of the time/temp power head "did it" lol. The one I'm getting supposedly has C & Fº like yours. I agree-I like my chicken to fall of the bone, cooked for a while. Will definitely roast potatoes also. I'll probably add onion, garlic, basil, parsley, seasoned salt (good on potatoes, little onion powder also). Will look at more of your cooking videos. Thanks again, ko
