I struggle to stay truthful to myself and honest with others. I find myself subconsciously exaggerating a story or including false details or even deceiving or lying a bit to manipulate a situation for self benefit or to please others. This has been my way of achieving external validation and pushing down my fear of unacceptance. I’ve done this my entire life so it’s become a habit. I’m working against it and trying to be truthful in all I say and do - in hopes of living genuinely and being a sincerely truthful good person - I like the suggestion of pausing bc it gives me a moment of self awareness and the opportunity to empower myself and tell the complete truth with no distortion. I really hope I can be sincere and authentically truthful in all I say, do, and am. Thank you for this video.
I needed this. I have a bad habit of lying to authority figures whenever I feel like I’m about to be in trouble. This has destroyed relationships, put my current ones on thin ice, and some of my own friends don’t trust me. I deeply want to be trusted and relied on by my friends and family, but I know that can’t happen until I start being more honest.

@@starryjoon1176 that’s how it is for me too! I don’t even think about it. It just slips. Fortunately I’m getting better about it. You just have to work hard and watch what you say/how you think.

@@no.7822 so much better!! I have went to therapy, built a relationship with God, and overall matured. I’m 21 now, and so many things have changed that have led me to hate that habit and be honest with those around me. I have stronger relationships now too! One thing that helped a lot to build those was being honest about my past because that has shaped me to who I am today.
I appreciate this, I’ve been going through a rough patch lately and I realized I need to be responsible and look at what I did wrong and stop blaming other for my own short comings, thanks for helpful tips

Another thing that helps me is trying to be honest online, it’s easier, just make an anonymous account and no-one can blame you. You can easily get things off your plate by doing this which helps a lot. Just like how constantly lying only causes more lying, telling the truth causes more truth. Hope this helps you as it helps me.

The phrase "to be honest" is perhaps one of the most annoying and over-used phrases today. It is everywhere, used by virtually everyone. Should we assume that if one does not qualify a statement with "to be honest", then the statement contains lies and deception?
Personally me wanna trying to be honest with myself and others but in same time I fear to be honest cause what others will think and say about me and I have that fear of my dark side though here always consequences for illusions of others about me so I should somehow to work with my dark side I think not run from that and don't try to hide it always idk its hard and I want to make right things yeah ik that its not will make everyone happy and here always will someone who will hate me but I guess I should somehow get over that
You have a good point. Maybe honestly is better said with action as well. I have to be honest with a woman I love. Even if I loose her, I'll be free of the lies and guilt. I plan to grow with or without her.

I want to practice virtues such as honesty, discipline, love, and patience. For my experience I love comparing them to the elements of the world, Honesty, Like Air, sets you free and without it your true self will parish, Patience Like Water, helps you control yourself, like you would control water, it can be peaceful or violent. Discipline is like Earth, Rigid and Stable, helping you cultivate the trees and bounties of your discipline, and Love is like fire, without control you can hurt yourself or others, but if kept under control you can bring warmth to everyone around you.
