Mr. Clover thank you for coming out and taking a stand , not just after the perv but the school leaders. I was sexually abused by a family member all my young life. No adults believed, the teachers said yes we believe , but there's nothing we can do. In 1974 I started running away from home.
I just want to say thank you for calling out adults who deny and or cover sexual abuse. You are a hero.

The school should be held accountable. How do you hire a teacher that just got fired for molesting a child. They should be sued. His parents were absent

This man is a walking billboard for if an adult takes an unusual interest in your child’s life then something is not right about that. This is 100% no exceptions.

Yes, but it also severely taints the intentions of adults who are looking to mentor kids, too. I clicked with a kid at a residential where I worked. He was so broken and just wanted connection, so we talked a lot. We played video games during free time and I would talk to him a lot in the common area. I'd take him to the horse barn for therapy. There was NEVER EVER a thought of inappropriate behavior on either end (he's gay...) But someone started spreading rumors that we were sexually involved (which made no sense because we were never alone, always other staff around and cameras). It got me fired, despite it just being nasty rumors spread by a staff who didn't like me.

@@christinag.7801 It's not normal for an adult non parent to take too much interest in a child. At all.

    • @troywright359

@@cheril8891 It depends. There is unhealthy interest, and there is focused interest. Coaches take a focused interest in kids who are going to excel in their sport. Tv producers take a focused interest in kids who are going to sell their product. In that context, 'too much interest' is seen as producting their investment and helping the child to succeed.
Unhealthy interest is NOT the same thing, consistently requesting time alone, or 'secrets' or persistent physical contact, or inappriopiate conversations etc.
Bottom line is I don't think taking an interest in seeing a young student do well who came from a troubled background and helping them as they deal with things in life is wrong.
Of course, when a machine is invented that can read minds to determine whether an adult has sexual interest in children, then we can use that.

@@cheril8891 I don't think so, often people that could not or ended up not having children and maybe don't have any nephews, especially elderly people, really like to be around kids. I've seen it with my eyes, my aunt became close friend with this man who lived alone with his mom and use to leave my cousin there overnight, and sometimes me and my sister too. My aunt didn't have much money at the time and worked a lot, the man was a real angel he bought my cousin toys that she couldn't have had otherwise and he and his mom were the kindest people ever. But I completely get what you're saying, I think there's much more consciousness nowadays about how widespread sexual assault is, so even though nothing happened and I have the sweetest memories of that house, now that I'm grown it really shocks me that my aunt and especially my mom that barely knew the guy (my aunt's family lived in a different city) allowed us to just stay there overnight, so many bad things could have happened. No way I'm taking those kinds of risks if I'll have children. Even though exceptions exist is definitely not worth taking the risk considering that the whole life of a harmless kid could be completely ruined. My boyfriend told me that a (male) friend of his brother offered to babysit his kids (3 and 5 years old) for free. No matter how close that friend of mine is I'm not leaving my 5 years old kid with a man who's not family or a professional on a weekly basis, and even for a professional I will always pick a woman (yes women can do it too but is FAR less common so lest's not be hypocrites). Especially if a child is 3 years old and can barely talk I'd be EXTRA careful, they're extremely vulnerable. Saving some money is not worth potentially ruining your kid's life

    • @variousJnames
      @variousJnames 3 роки тому +6

@Bubbles Butterfly It's one thing to have an interest in that child to succeed, where the adult holds themselves accountable and is in communication to the parents, etc. It's another to have interest and take them to locations privately after school activities, alone. There's a difference and parents need to be vigilant.

Hi Guerry, My name is Betsy & l too was assaulted as a child, but not by a teacher, but by my eldest brother, 7 & a half years my senior. I was 5 & l cried & screamed & begged my mother for help, but she denied my reality & the rapes continued for 8 years, until he left for college. It took me until my late 20s to self destruct enough to get therapy & admit what had happened to me.
You tell your story with such awareness, it's obvious you've done a lot of work to heal. My heart goes out to you & all the boys that this man disregarded & disrespected in order to feed his sickness. I worry for children a great deal because l know that pedophiles are rampant everywhere in this world & l pray that we will find a way to stop the cycle.
I'm so sorry that you endured his abuse & wish you every possible good, as well as healing. Love to you & all of the boys that survived him.

I’m a 54-year-old guy who, at 15, spent 4 months on a psychiatric ward. I was the only boy, amongst 5 other girls (and other adults) when I arrived. My reason for being there had nothing to do with sexual abuse, but for some there (including a girl on another ward whom I also befriended) it was. I learned to care for all them, and they loved having me there from the moment I showed up. But the whole experience did something to me that I wouldn’t fully understand, until later in life when I had my spiritual awakening at 45. I eventually sought out a dear friend from that place, whose last name I still remembered, and I found her! While inadvertently triggering her awakening in the process. Long story short, we have remained in touch ever since (10 years now!). She is a scientist, yes, a scientist! She had overcome her demons and got into science in her late 20s. I tell this story for any survivors out there. You are loved, and you can thrive!!! ♥️🙏🏻✌️

Guerry, wow...thank you. Our stories are so similar. My attacker was the band director. 1979-80. The US Supreme Court read the case in the 0ct.'88 term. Kids should have the right to attend school in safety. Lotta good that did. It was sent back down through the system. He was hired in my small hometown after a neighboring district fired him for the same cruel behaviors, which they knew about pre-hire. He was given just probation, responsibility for SOME court costs which he did NOT pay & community service - which HE got to choose for himself. He chose to give private music lessons which is where his abuse began with me. Thirty-eight yrs later, he gets arrested yet again, just this March past. His arrest photo was in my hometown paper. But, I think he must be a free man bc his bail was only $75,000, which means he had to post only $7,500 to get out. Easy for him, he opened a music store to sell instruments & the like & to also give private lessons in order to fulfill his community service. He never stopped in all these decades even though I was not the only one who sued. And, our justice system hasn't stopped him either, thanks to Covid-19. He's been free as long as we have been on lockdown. Sounds eerily familiar. If anybody sees this, & cares, plz pray for justice. Isn't it past time?

I’m a man and was sexually abused by another man when I was 16. I was talking with my therapist yesterday about the shame I carry that is associated with my assault. I froze up when the abuse began and I was intoxicated. The abuse continued for sometime and it made me question my own sexuality even though the sex acts didn’t feel right to me. Offering myself compassion has been difficult. I think part of me is in denial that I had been taken advantage of by a predator. It just sickens me. I was powerless. It hurts. I started drinking and using drugs……much later in life it would almost kill me. I never disclosed. The guy that abused me abused other boys as well. I am 47 now and I never truly considered that the sexual abuse was the source of a lot of my problems.

Guerry, thank you for your courage in speaking about this and making a video. I have a comment concerning your parents. I think it is extremely odd that parents would take so little interest in finding out what is going on with their son and instead pretty much hand over parental responsibilities to a non-family member. In listening to your story, I felt a great deal of anger towards your parents who seemed to take no interest in what was happening. I feel they should have been a big part of your healing journey and instead, you don't mention them. This, to me, says that they have their own history with childhood sexual abuse. In my own journey of healing the pain of such abuse, the role of my parents was a big factor and I realized just how much anger I felt towards them for not protecting me. In the words of my therapist, "There is no such thing as a non-offending parent. The unwillingness of parents to protect their children is an offense."

Thank you for sharing your story. I was married to a man who was sexually abused as a child. Unfortunately he never got help and we divorced due to his promiscuous behavior with women. I believe this was to prove his masculinity to himself. Sad.

Your testimony is amazing. I also was victimized as a child, told the right person, who in turn did nothing. As a survivor I found myself exposing abuse of others throughout my life. At first they resented the exposure. Later they thanked me. It’s a terrible thing for anyone to deal with. These sins can be justly brought into the light by the weak and the brave alike. Sometimes justice prevails! God bless you and those who endured and escaped the damaging influences of this man.

As a survivor of abuse, I know the threats that are inflicted on the victims and the fear they live with of the abuse continuing and the pain of not being believed by those who love you. What sickens me is when it finally surfaces and the knowing adults stand by and do nothing in fear of losing their job while the child is in fear of losing their sanity and/or life.

I can understand and relate so much to this. The predators look for kids that have nice parents. Its like a sixth sense to them. They also look for cracks in families and prey on them. I don't blame you one tiny bit for drinking! I would too. I had a drinking problem later on age 21-26. It was a slow death. But drinking sure helped me get through some serious crap. I am so sorry for your childhood! You have a world of support and empathy. You are helping so many people. You are so brave. A truly beautiful person! PS I love your science project. Parents, YOU and only YOU are responsible for the well-being of your child. If your child has issues then you seek help, but YOU need to be the source of help to implement that. You should supervise those around them. Especially if you child begins to act out. Then something is seriously wrong. And you don't pass that issue on to others to deal with. Maybe they were naive. But you have to know they were not connected to their child's emotional well-being. Out of touch is a very dangerous place to be with your kids. Sexual predators can see and sense that a mile away and they prey on that. Know what grooming is and teach your children how the predators work. Also helping your child to have healthy self esteem and clear boundaries, this will protect them. And them knowing that if someone hurts them in anyway they are not responsible and they can come to you for protection. And you will help them deal with it. And dont just end the abuse but help and validate the child. PLEASE STAY IN TOUCH WITH THEM DAILY.

I am so glad you have come to realize the sly manipulation of this monster. Let any guilt go, because you were truly trapped. They use every trick they can think if, and come up with more as time goes by. They always make you think it's your fault. I am glad you broke free. And have helped save more from such a fate. That is bravery. You are a true hero.

Thank you, Mr. Glover for sharing your story. I was abused when I was a child as well, and it was very traumatizing. I went through a lot of trauma aftermath after that. I felt like my father never understood my trauma. As an
adult, I had to seek out my own help and made peace with my past. I’m learning. You definitely want to make these traumas into assets. I really had to forgive myself for this past trauma.

I wanted to thank you for the first comment I've read, from someone that seems to understand that the problem stopping these offenders quickly, is often the victims of the abuse not feeling they have anyone they can turn to and speak openly about what has happened. Many of the other commentors, seem clueless that it's the society we live in, making it so hard for survivors to speak up.
