That how you call a football game on TV, let the pictures tell the story and just fill in the blanks. Summerall learned this by working with Ray Scott.
I thought this was catchy and very nostalgic of the pop theme music from video games and sports of this period, from the 80s and 90s, which has special sentimental value for me and makes me think of old friends who I spent so much time with.
You’re so right about that, it only lasted 2 seasons which is the least in the modern era of cbs, a theme uplifting, not too loud, similar to much of solo pop
This is awesome! Thanks for posting this awesome theme from the NFL on CBS. I'm brazilian, and I fell in love for american football and since the age of 15-16 I've been looking for videos of old american football games. I first heard this theme on the Super Bowl XXIV intro on YT, and I gotta say that this theme rocks! One question though: Do you have the 1989 version of Pots and Pans? This is a really awesome theme as well.
Osman Bonfim Costa You're welcome. Nope, I don't, sadly. The "theme" you hear was cobbled together from the video you referenced and a couple of others from that era here on YT.
+Gabriel Almeida Valeu, Gabriel! Pra falar a verdade já vi, e ficou muito legal. Mas mesmo assim eu gostava mais da versão 1989 do Pots and Pans, desde a primeira vez que ouvi. Por isso eu estou procurando por ela.
“On WNCT Channel 9, the Dallas Cowboys travel to play the Washington Redskins in a pivotal NFC East rivalry at 1PM” “On WRAL-5, the Redskins play host to the New York Giants at 4PM.” Before the Panthers came, this was common to hear these words growing up in NC
Matthew Behrman Waga-Tv Channel 5 kdfw-tv Channel 4 and knxt TV channel 2 Atlanta Georgia follow by Dallas Fort Worth Texas and Los Angeles California 1970 through 1993 era
I liked how you did the superbowl 47 intro late 80's style you did on your channel with the pots and pans theme a couple years ago. Would you be able to do a Super Bowl 50 on CBS intro useing this theme Early 90's Style or Pots and pans late 80's style either or or both
First I heard this theme on UA-cam I thought it was just OK, but it's starting growing on me lately. Agree that it's not on the level of "Pots and Pans" or Super Bowl XXVI theme that replaced it, but it's arguably a lot better than it gets credit for.
this theme is a bit before my time in following the NFL... i guess it was an okay theme for its era.... personally, prefer the the themes CBS used later on in the 90s and now over this
Hey gang. Just thought I might let you know the theme heard here is used in my new "old school" style open dedicated to Super Bowl 50. Check it out at ua-cam.com/video/73LWP8kDQ68/v-deo.html
I never cared for this. It's too...sterile, antiseptic. And I think I have a negative association of it and the polarity in the NFL standings of the late 80s through mid 90s. I suppose if you're a Giants, Redskins, 49ers, Cowboys, Broncos, or Bills fan you may feel differently.
I've gotta be honest with you-- I've never cared all that much for today's CBS College Football music either (as it was used first for normal college football, then for the SEC on CBS, and now later to be used for the Big Ten on CBS); personally, I felt (and still do feel) that the 1984-86 game theme music was far better (and that the NCAA Today studio show music was far superior as well [especially in the cut of it that was used for Don Robertson's sponsor read on The Prudential College Football Report with Jim Nantz in 1985 and 1986]).
I can't believe I can't really remember this theme. That's because it doesn't compare to the CBS themes of the late 70's and 80's to me. This one is so forgettable.
This is a forgotten gem amongst the theme songs, that's for sure.
This make me 😭 I miss John Madden and pat summerall
CBS had the best intros. They are still WAY better than anything today.
January 28, 1990....Super Bowl XXIV. Sitting in my living room and watching the 49ers beat the ever living whatnot out of the Broncos.
The only reason I feel sadly about this theme. My Broncos were destroyed. My dad was in the hospital for a heart attack as well.
Yea, Joe Montana dropped a nuke on the state of Colorado that night.
@@bradjames891I feel the same towards the 92-94 CBS theme. My grandfather passed away in 1992 and he loved the cowboys.
That was my first Super Bowl full game memory I was 8 at the time.
This is ALWAYS the 49ers/Giants/Redskins era for me !
Pat Summerall: "Rypien to CLARK....TOUCHDOWN Redskins".
Memories!!!!!
That how you call a football game on TV, let the pictures tell the story and just fill in the blanks. Summerall learned this by working with Ray Scott.
This has to be the greatest NFL intro of all time in my opinion
This amongst many of the older football themes gets me choked up admittedly. ❤

One of my favorite NFL Today theme songs bring it back
This theme didn't get the love it deserved. I love this!
CBS always with good themes
You’re so right about that, it only lasted 2 seasons which is the least in the modern era of cbs, a theme uplifting, not too loud, similar to much of solo pop
CBS always had the best sports theme music in the 80s and early 90s!
This one grew on me (and I didn’t care for it when I was younger).
How Awesome Was This, Really!
RIP John Madden
Great biting bass!!!
Deion when he was in ATL! Primetime!!
Has always been my favorite NFL on CBS intro
This Song debutid at Suoer Bowl 24. 49ers vs Broncos.
Correction: Super Bowl 24, not Suoer Bowl 24. Also debuted, not debutid
Super Bowl XXVI pregame was the last time. Then gametime, the new 92-94 tune debuted.
This is a really beautiful piece of theme music. I dare say it's better than what they're using now.
the current theme is irreplaceable.
Awesome. I just wish someone had the NFL on CBS Gamebreak music from this era. It had a piano feel to it and it was really awesome.

Another great theme
Even this theme is better than the one they use today.

This has to be the same composer as the NCAA tournament theme.

+Osman Bonfim Costa I found the 1989 8-bit version, so, with that you can compare. (Também sou brasileiro)

+CJHawk85Gamer I'm honestly thinking about doing it.
awesome
Best cbs theme before 2001
They could use this theme for next season
First I heard this theme on UA-cam I thought it was just OK, but it's starting growing on me lately. Agree that it's not on the level of "Pots and Pans" or Super Bowl XXVI theme that replaced it, but it's arguably a lot better than it gets credit for.
HRTVFan2 NFL on CBS with NFC era Atlanta Falcons Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams awesome epic theme song
The Pots and Pans theme is super overrated and cheese, this theme was good, the 1992 theme was the best
@@TheLocalLt the 1998 version of the 1992 theme was pure bliss.
NFL on CBS theme (1990-1992).

This NFL on CBS theme is much better than the current theme.
McIntosh1581: I agree there. As for the POTS AND PANS theme (1986 to 1988), that should be used for Thursday Night Football.
I don't like the current NFL on CBS theme, and they've used it since 2003!

this sucks music is cheesy

As opposed to the stale ES Posthumous music CBS has used since 2003? I'll take this and the pre-2003 music variations.
Super Later Music, sounds like it from the 80s
Generic and uninspiring..
TERRIBLE. This was awful music which was fitting because Super Bowl XXIV and the 1990 and '91 seasons were downright awful.
