Just picked up a 2023 base MT - love everything about it!! Manual, RWD, lsd, handbrake, naturally aspirated. Driving at its best. Watching your review late on a rainy night after washing and detailing my car. Best way to enjoy it without being in it. Thank you!
I’m glad Toyota and Subaru continued to produce the GR86/BRZ. While it may not be perfect, it’s great that there’s another affordable vehicle that is actually fun.
Great review!! I just got the 2022 BRZ. It does actually have piped in sound but it can be disconnected. (A MUST). Then you can rev it and not get "buzzed" out of your mind.
Very impressive updated 86 indeed! I noticed that Toyota really dings $$$ those individuals who cannot drive a manual. I really appreciate that they are significantly cheaper when ordered with the 3rd pedal. I get asked quite a lot about this car and this video covers all the right questions. Great job guys! Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the review Andrea and Zack... Andrea, actually there is a speaker on the right side of the dash that pumps out a fake engine/intake noise. A number of enthusiasts that have bought the GR86/BRZ have disconnected or disabled the speaker so they can hear the actual engine note. Zack the new Nissan is called the Z.
Excellent review as always. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos. Two thumbs up to the editing work as well. Also props to Andrea's excellent driving skills and Zack rockin' that cool looking watch. Gladiators we salute you!
Both 86/BRZ and MX-5 are the most fun for the money you can get. I am glad to see Toyota/Subaru and Mazda are still have the guts to produce such a fun FR sports car that most of us can afford. Even if the original one lacks torque, it remains a great driver's car. Its like an everyday man's Porsche Cayman.
I appreciate you guys now mentioning fuel grade. I’ve gotta disagree the car makes an incredible loud grotesque artificial noise imo. Countless people online just unplugging the sound generator.
I had a 2007 Civic Si coupe, with the HRP suspension mods. LOVED the engine, didn't love the handling. I bought the first Scion FR-S, 2012, and LOVED the handling, didn't love the engine (or the door rattles). I said while I owned the FR-S that the ultimate would have been that Civic Si engine (despite the rev hang) in the FR-S chassis. However, in 2015 I bought a Mustang V6. Initially it felt like a tank compared to my last two cars. Handling was a bit ponderous until I went down two aspect ratio sizes in tires and got much sticker ones, got it lowered, and had the suspension stiffened by a performance shop. The engine is just about perfect -- 300 HP in a 3500 pound package. I think my next car will be my last time buying a new internal combustion engined vehicle, and the GR86 seems like an amazing bargain, but my problem now is I've gotten so used to the V6 in my Mustang that I'm not sure I could be happy going down to a 2.4 four.
I know a lot of people say the back seats are useless, but that’s a big part of the reason why I got the 2022 brz. This car has the potential to grow with you - I have two kids and the back seats fit their car seats and we have a ton of fun in this car. Two seaters aren’t practical enough. The back seats deserve more credit :) That said, great review and love your channel!
OOOHHH!!! Great car! I laughs so hard when Zack said “This dirty little car” 😆 A duck tail is fine because the back is rounded tho. It’s sound wild from the motor. Great video Andrea! 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻
I don't think you should change your pronunciation of any words for the Americans. I had an original Celica and loved it. I had to get pushed across the border entering Fort Erie when I lost on my clutch fluid. Now that was a memorable night. Great job on this review. The only reason there is a back seat is to lower insurance rates.
The back seat can be used if the person up front shares the misery and isn't over 5 foot ten. It does have fake pumped in audio. I'm 63 and can get in and out quite easily. I find the motor brilliant overall. Turn signal operation is clumsy and I find the seats a bit Squishy would be my main negative observations. Love the HVac operation. Infotainment very functional. Don't get the base model because of what Andrea says. You get sticky Michelins with the premium one as well vs. Michelin Primacy AS.. The Subaru is tuned a bit differently suspension wise and the base list price in Canada is quite a bit less at $29850 Cdn. Good review, and your observations are spot on. I can tell you like driving this one. I think I am burning a lot more fuel around town than on the highway where it settl;es down in the low 30's even if pushed. Car loves to go 80 MPH+ and is super stable at all speeds.
Just catching up with your reviews. Couldn't help but compare this new GR86 with my 2008 RX8 GT model (110,000kms) using your comments. I have owned it for 5 years (cost $8,000 with 55,000kms) and am the 3rd owner. Here are the following points: - It also runs on premium fuel. - 1.3L rotary. Also 6 Spd. manual gearbox. - It does have to get to 6,000 revs to come to life. - Same performance as the new GR86, but I am guessing the RX8 has a higher top speed. - RX8 does have 4 full seats and I have had 4 adults sitting comfortably for a 2 hour trip. - Coffee holders are better positioned in the RX8. - It is quiet even when accelerating hard (great sound even if quiet) and very comfortable on long trips. - Has power driver seat. Front seats are heated. - I use it as a daily driver, rain or shine, when I am home. - Still one of the best handling and forgiving vehicles on the road today. 14 years later the RX8 is still looking for a worthy competitor for the money.
Great video! I drove the previous gen 86 and decided on a ND2 Miata., mostly because I hated the torque delivery . Sounds like I may need to do another test drive in a few years.
America has a funny way of changing the correct enunciation of some wording. However don't change your format of bring us fantastic video of yourselves and what you love doing best. With cars that is although a little personal input is quite heartwarming to see.
I'm always surprised you don't have more subscribers, very professional, fun and informational reviews as usual!! Thank you for all your hard work! Love Andrea's smile.
I prefer the base. I am not into matt black wheels and the duckbill spoiler. My daily drive is a mercedes and compared to it the features in the premium look basic. Appreciate the car for its purity. This may as well be the last affordable sports car that was ever built.
Duck Bill? Who's Bill? Joke! I appreciate the 86s back to basics sports car attitude. It's like the MGs but actually reliable. If I had to buy a sports car(which is not happening in the near future), that's the car I would get.
You could also consider the Mini Cooper as a competitor. It offers a hardtop, a convertible and a JCW option. It also handles like a go-cart and it's a lot of fun.
Most cars that are sport tuned won't be fuel efficient especially cars that you can rev to high rpms. You can always get a civic SI if you are more concerned with saving at the pump.
If Toyota can improve on real world consumption (which is already good), GR86 will be around until even the most debt-laden can afford one. I want a world where there's more GR86/BRZ prowling the highways vs EV.
Hey, be proud of your Canadian pronunciation, it's English and you pronounced it like the English do, so don't be coerced by us south of the border who don't even have an official language. Probably won't be English for long.
It's always kind of bothered me that you two always say both the Canadian and American pronunciations. The Americans are smart enough to figure it out without the correction every time. I don't see Americans doing the same on their channels, and us backwater Canadians seem to understand what they're talking about just fine. Ditch the correction.
Canadas population is almost 1/10th the population of the USA, meaning more Americans are probably watching this channel more than Canadians themselves I-
@@Carfan678 Yeah, I understand that, but the British have many car channels that are probably mostly watched by Americans, and you don't see them doing pronunciation corrections.
you will never get the blue color with MT, beside that the dealer is very rude and told me there is additional USD6000 add on MSRP, i will never consider Toyota !!!!!!!
I wish hyundai didnt get rid of the gen coupe... I also can't get over this generation of cars' design language by any manufacturer. They all look so cartoony and bloated.
Honestly, I love you guys. But enough with the Canadian/American differences in pronunciation. If people are too stupid to know what you are talking about, that's their problem.

I love driving fun cars like this. And manual transmission, RWD, low center of gravity, low price.
I salute Toyota.
And Subaru 😊
This would be a perfect car to take to the track. Light, tossable, balanced, just enough power, and a hands-on driver's car.
Years behind cars like the mazda and hyundai models.
@@jrs9264 In what way? Not unless they’re RWD.
Indeed gravity is real
I’m glad Toyota and Subaru continued to produce the GR86/BRZ. While it may not be perfect, it’s great that there’s another affordable vehicle that is actually fun.
Andrea's face while accelerating is the best part of all of your reviews.
Pure joy 😃
Great job with you tube. Love how Andrea is always comforting you Zack. She must have a huge heart!!!

Get the Subaru for even more savings in Canada. It’s about 2k less across the board.
I think it looks a tad sharper too!
I loved the old Celica GTS. Great review on a unicorn. Thanks again for the translation for us southerners.
That engine sound you hear inside.... is in fact simulated electronically routed from the audio speakers....there is a way to disable it.

Another great review. You both had so much fun with this one by the looks of it

Andrea is having so much fun. I’m jealous 😆
If someone complains the manual handbrake should have been an electronic one, he or she is missing the point of the GR86.
Electronic park brakes shouldnt exist on manual transmission prime vehicles. (Civic Type R fail)
What do they mean there are no artificial sounds inside the cabin? They must be high
Best manual driver's car.
Thanks for answering my question, but.... as a Canadian, I've never said se-lee-ka. It's always been sell-lah-ka for me.
Not available in Romania. What a huge shame.

SPORTS CARS with back seats are just to lower insurance, as you can call it a four seater, which lowers Insurance. In many Countries!
Salut : funny as you are so excited with manual transmissions where, here, in France, we tend to avoid them. Ciao.
Very nice…and the car too
So the premium doesn’t really include any performance mods. Sucks and should have at least had larger brakes
Hello guys!!!! Can you please review the Automatic!!! Would love to hear what you have to say.
Hmm it’s not that impressive I test drove it. The cool thing about this car is the look and the very low center of gravity
They really need to put the gr corolla engine in this car or come out with a inline 3 or 4
Availability is the only issue with this car at the moment....rest everything is joy

Does Zack have a weekend/summer/fun car?
This & Mazda MX5 maybe the epitome of budget fun to drive sports car with manual tranny... you don't need it, but oh I want it... mid-life crisis...
As a Mexican here, when I speak English and I have to say "Z" people confuse it as I'm saying "C" so I prefer saying Zed
Oh yeah! Lets Go Places
Once the warranty period is over, will a Subaru dealership do the work on it?
It’s mostly a Subaru car, so don’t see why not?
not a fan of black wheels esp on Mustang convertibles...terrific review, prefer the 'Z'
A drivers car indeed.
Oh good! Looks like my Timmy Ho's coffee will fit in the cup holders. 🥤 😬
It looks fun to drive! Reminds me of the 300Z. I'll take one in dark blue with a grey interior.
If people complain about the mechanical handbrake, they're missing the point of this car completely!
Great car, however, I'd still give the edge to MX-5 if you don't need the extra room
I would take the the MX5 if I could fit in it. I feel like my head is too close to the windshield everytime I get in one and I'm only 6 FT tall.
Sweet 🥰
Nothing like rowing your own gears. Even a slow car feels faster.

It's Z, just Z. As was announced 18 months ago. Not 400Z
I don't need heated seats or steering wheel!
The only thing I don't like about this car: the fuel economy. I don't care how much power it has 21 mpg for a small car in the city is unacceptable.
Plus the need for premium fuel. I don't get why. It's not turbo charged and it's still an economy car.
Most cars that are sport tuned won't be fuel efficient especially cars that you can rev to high rpms. You can always get a civic SI if you are more concerned with saving at the pump.
Power seats add weight, an evil commodity in a small car!
I think the Civic Si would’ve great to compare instead of the Z. Great review!
