Watching this helped me to appreciate even more the artistry and cast of the old Mason.
Thx for watching!
Raymond Burr is forever the one and only Perry Mason. 👏
Absolutely! Burr has a commanding air that he never lets slip!
Absolutely true.
Can't even watch this!
This is why the show flopped
Perry Mason is a fictional character who can be played by many actors. Raymond Burr wasn't the first or last actor to play Mason. Get real!
Yes Raymond Burr character as Perry Mason can never copy, He is and will always be Perry Mason.
For the reason that we are used to watching the late Mr. RAYMOND BURR, perhaps! So, why not we just enjoy watching this new ACTOR playing the role of PERRY MASON, for the same reason, GET USE!!🎉
@@user-su2fl9xl2k it will not be the same, trust me.
I really like Monte Markham as Perry Mason. He's a fine actor.
No one will ever be able to replace Raymond Burr as Perry Mason. Good try
Markham you are good actor.
It is oretty good, But there was, and always be onlyone Perry Mason,Raymond Burr!
Thanks for uploading this; I remember this series from 1973, & although I was only 13 years old, I do remember telling my Dad, " this show Won't last" & my Dad agreed. Monte Markham has Always been a Top- Notch actor, as the other cast members of this show, but the viewing public would Never accept Anyone playing Perry except Raymond Burr, & rightfully so! But Thanks again, I had wondered if this show was still in existence!
Give me the old perry mason. Please!!!
It was too early to think people were going to like this. We were still watching reruns of the old Perry Mason in 1973. My father religiously watched the reruns at midnight back in the 70's.
Raymond Burr is the best Perry Mason of all time..
I love Raymond Burr as perry mason
Wow. The only Perry Mason I've ever seen is reruns of the (1957-1966) series starring Raymond Burr. Thank you very much for posting this!
You are more than welcome! Please keep checking in, more soon!
Could you post episode from the 1957-1966 series? It was an awesome show.
@@maureenclarke8120 Soon Maureen! Stay tuned my friend!
@@TheRetNetwork please post more episodes… you seem to be the only resource … and Thanks appreciated seeing this ☺️
@@maureenclarke8120 Buy the DVDs!
Jason Mason, Perry Mason's cousin, would've been a hit show. ...
Where is the background music theme?
For a guy with a bad knee, the radio thief sure could run fast through a parking lot.
Brett Somers brightens up the episode.
Thanks for uploading that 👍
You know, for a former basketball player with a bum knee, he can sure run fast and cut like a champion when stealing a radio.
That's what I said. And I can't believe all the fuss over someone who stole a cheap radio. I mean, they actually arrested the guy!
Still with us today at 87!! Amazing!!
Awesome! Good to know.
PERRY MASON was Raymond Burr; and Raymond Burr was PERRY MASON. And Barbara Hale was the 'real' Della Street; William Hopper was the 'real' Paul Drake; William Talman was the 'real' Hamilton Burger; and Ray Collins was the 'real' Lt. Arthur Tragg. To try and reincarnate Erle Stanley Gardner's famous crime series in this particular modern setting with new actors (however capable they were) would never sit well with an audience who couldn't help but love the original. It also explains why the 1980s PERRY MASON Movies (again starring Raymond Burr and Barbara Hale) were far better received than this short-lived 1973 series...
Interestingly enough, according to Wikipedia, PERRY MASON (which ran on radio from 1943 to 1955, and premiered on TV in 1957) might have been considered the nighttime equivalent to the popular crime soap opera, THE EDGE OF NIGHT (which premiered on CBS in April of 1956). Gardner was supposed to have written that serial as well; but it was created by Irving Vendig instead. And John Larkin (who played Perry Mason on radio) would become famous for his role as the first Mike Karr, policeman turned assistant district attorney representing the fictional city of Monticello...
With two powerhouse crime shows such as these, it is no wonder that a rather devoted fan base would have trouble taking Monte Markham, Harry Guardino, Sharon Acker and Dane Clark seriously in their attempted roles...
😌 that was a lot but I concur
@@gemaynedorisjeanhoward7325 …I know it was quite a bit; but thank you for reading it. Sometimes I tend to get immersed in research like this because I believe in one being thoroughly informed. But if you were able to understand and appreciate it for what it was, many thanks…
Well said, Terence.
@@ECO473 …thank you as well. And I’m telling you this: if the ‘fake’ PERRY MASON ever shows up on TV again, I’m boycotting that channel! Why mess up the reputation of the original?
@@terencedove5047 I think someone would have poured lighter fluid on any existing master tapes, incinerated them, and then buried the ashes by now.
Thank you. It is nice seeing other actors and actresses in their different roles.
Glad you enjoyed!
Oh thank you so much. Ever since being a fan of Brett Somers since 2020 because of my now favourite game show Match Game I was hoping to see this because she mentions this on Match Game 73. Please upload more with Brett Somers.
Sorry, I just can't see anyone playing Mason other than RB
for me only the original
Is it just me, or does this feel like they missed the mark as to what made Perry Mason w/ Raymond Burr - whether the original run, or the 1985-1993 revival, so good? (Aside from (erm, on top of rather?), obviously from Raymond Burr being Perry Mason)
This episode is loosely based on The Case of the Twice Told Twist; the only color episode of the original series.
Place commercial here was more exciting than the program.
I actually fell asleep on this series-wouldn’t have happened watching the original Perry Mason😵😵😴😴🥱🥱😞😳
I agree.
Factz
Maybe...just maybe that's because you're a lot older now then when you watched the original series...and we all know older people love to nap...🤣🤣🤣
"The New Perry Mason" ? Did he have major reconstructive surgery and lose 50 pounds?
Early on we see Hamilton Burger. Around the 10 minute mark, we see Gertie - played by Jack Klugman's character's wife from the Odd Couple. Forty seconds later we see Della. Still waiting for Paul Drake. I imagine he'll appear directly. That must be him at the 13 minute mark.
Heavens to Earl Stanley Gardner ! Thanks SO much for uploading the whole episode ! This short lived CBS series was cancelled in late Jan of 1974 (due to low ratings) so I didn't get a chance to watch any episodes when it first aired. Good cast but overall whether blah. No great shakes. I can well understand it not lasting even a whole season. And what a bad toupee Dane Clark ("Lt. Tragg") had. Very distracting ! :-)
Glad you enjoyed it
They tried Mason shows without Raymond Burr before. It's just silly.
I guess Monte Markham wasn't another Raymond Burr, but he was one of the best actors of the period, and he went on to do non-fiction for the History Channel. Harry Gaurdino was a very well worked character actor of th period, appearing in several Clint Eastwood films, as well as the first season of MANIX. This Perry Mason remake didn't go, but it certainly had its moments.
Thanks for commenting Alec, Enjoy!
Nice show from the past.
I Like the New Episode but i Like the Old perry Mason
I feel that @brianhardy thanks for your support! #TheRet'
At this time Raymond Burr was busy with Ironside
Rymond Burr RIP
Wow, a cameo by Chick Hearn and the Lakers.
Enjoyed.
This series had no excitement & you didn’t care about the people.
No energy and almost boring.
The old series was like watching old friends.
Calls himself Perry Mason, Drives Cannons Lincoln.
We started to watch the first episode and changed the station
Will someone unconfuse me. How did The New Perry Mason relate to the Perry Mason hour long and the Perry Mason two hour longs?
When the original show ended in 1966, it was doing okay in the ratings but not great, was expensive, had an exhausting production schedule, and thought to be out of fashion by the network. So it wasn't renewed. But CBS kept trying to find replacements to recapture its success for some years after. Eventually some honchos got the idea to just try rebooting Perry Mason directly and ended up with this....In the 80s crime shows had gotten popular again and NBC decided to do a proper revival as TV movies, also a lot easier for the original actors than a weekly series.
i SEE NOW WHY IT DIDN'T MAKE IT!!!
No no no. Only the real Perry Msaon for me. And why is there a face in the picture.
Monte is no Raymond Burr.
There is only one Perry Mason and Della Street and that is Raymond Burr and Barbara Hale
that one witness was the tonic seller on Josie Wales
The judge was from the old series
Four other cast members of this episode were from the original Perry Mason. In addition to the judge (Byron Morrow - strangely uncredited this time around), there were: 1: Paul Richards (Jules Barron- the victim), 2: Woodrow Parfrey (Doctor Faraday), 3: Ross Elliott (Aaron Hayden), and 4: Kenneth Tobey (Detective Naismith). Some casting trivia: Richards completed the trifecta (albeit over two PM series)of victim, defendant, and murderer with this role. Parfrey became the only actor to be a murderer in both series. Elliott is best known in the original PM series as "the client who died twice" in the episode TCOT Corresponding Corpse. He also played (as himself) the Producer in the classic I Love Lucy Vitameatavegemin episode. Kenneth Tobey played an Assistant DA in a couple of episodes of the original series. In addition, Richard Collier (Erwin Beatty), while he never was in the original series, is best remembered as the doctor in Blazing Saddles who the classic line "Hush Harriet, that's a sure way to get him killed".
Not bad at all, however, I do prefer the old Perry Mason!
Monte Markham does make a good crime solving lawyer but this would have been better if it were his own show and not Perry Mason.
The original has no equivalent
Is there any chance you can upload the whole series?
No offense but weak
Sorry to say I totally agree. The whole cast (lots of familiar faces) tries their best but yes, it's a weak script. Rather ho hum overall. I can well understand the show being cancelled mid-season (in Jan of '74) due to low ratings. It had nowhere near the magic the original "Perry Mason" had. :-)
I don't like a face floating on the top right of the screen
35:15ish....
AND THEY STILL DO ALL
THAT THIS VERY DAY....
COLLEGE ADVANTAGE
Weed Me
👍👍👍
Sorry, I really did NOT like this. In no way can it compare to the original with Raymond Burr!!
The 1980s revival was definitely better than this (especially having Burr, and Hale in it) - though nothing compares to the original.
@@DanknDerpyGamer The TV movies were bloated too-long movies with no adaptations of any of the novels. The New Perry Mason featured three adaptations of the novels, which are the real Perry Mason, not Raymond Burr.
I’m looking for more of the New Perry Mason show on your channel. Are there more?
Indeed, why just post one or two episodes? It seems unlikely FOX will release this series on DVD so this is one of the few sources for this series. I only have 8 episodes.
@@erichwise9936 When are you going to post the ones you have for everyone to enjoy?...if you're not going to, then please stop complaining ..you should know these episodes are difficult to come by ..
Hi Cissy, we will get more episodes up soon! Thanks for tuning in!
Coming soon Erich!
Thanks for tuning in, more coming soon!
Why wasn't Burr cast? Was he still vertical?
Thanks if you know.
Thanks for stopping by Heidi. I can't say for sure why, but I do know that at the time of this series airing, Burr was was starring in a Hit TV series of his own called 'Ironside'.
They thought Raymond Burr was too old in 1973! Perry Mason Returns in 1985 was such a massive hit, they made another 25 films, he filmed his last, The Case of the Killer Kiss in 1993 while terminally ill.
@@valerieellen2402 As noted above, Raymond Burr was starring in another series at the time. No one thought he was too old (where do people come up with this nonsense?) Besides, Burr was tired of Perry Mason long before it ended in 1966 and probably would not have done a weekly series at that time even if he were available. Four TV movies a year is a lot less work.
@@erichwise9936 38 year old Monte Markham was chosen as the new young, running, jumping Perry Mason in 1973, which was a dismal failure. Raymond was 56 then and, yes in the last years of Ironside, the last programme aired in Jan 1975, so filming finished in 1974.
Please remove the picture in the corner so so I can watch this.
Qué pena que no haya subtítulos en español... No tengo paciencia para escucharlo en inglés
We'll get subtitles up asap.
It's hard to see "Perry Mason". It just diesnt fit. Raymond Burr is Perry Mason. Period. And he's also "Ironside."
The show is ok, if they had just called it Merry Pason, anything but Perry.
To Mason's basketball player client-poor poor you, NOT.
Since this isn't the real Perry Mason, I'm not watching.
Raymond Burr must have been rolling in his grave.
He was still alive when this show aired…
I'm sure Raymond Burr knew that a fictional character can be played by many actors (unlike the people here).
And playing Robert Ironside in the NBC series "Ironside."
A better opening theme song may have helped this series. Compared to the original Mason theme, this one is a dud!!!!!
Composed by the great Earle Hagen (Make Room for Daddy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, I Spy, That Girl, The Andy Griffith Show and The Mod Squad).
I am so sorry you made a big mistake this is not Perry Mason! Where is Raymond Burr, the only Perry Mason!
Lol
this series flopped big time
What a horrible mess. Miscast Perry mason! Burr played him for 15 years and then in reruns. How could anyone else play him on American tv?
Raymond Burr had played Perry Mason for 9 years.
