Btw Tony, you inspired me to start taking some piano lessons. I found a tutor at church, and we've been doing lessons for about a month now, and some of the things you talk about when reacting are starting to make sense to me a little, now that I'm getting the basics down.
They've gone on record saying this is one of the hardest tracks they've ever written, because their composer is a classical guy and jazz music is practically the complete opposite.
along with the main composer Yamato Kasai/HAMO! he made COSMO (sang by Miku) which later became Space Colony (sang by Momo, with added mili-latin) when he formed the band!
Mili has some of the best lyrics of any artist I have seen. There are so many ways to interperet a lot of them. There's even a Mili connected universe in many of their songs.
btw is there any official material for the universe? all i can tell is that some song reference some things or individual from other songs but i can't really connect most of them in any meaningful way. the world feel completely different too.
@@yamajii6428 right? it's been almost a decade since their work with rayark, 9.8 on deemo was my introduction to them. they has come so far and branches out a lot. i was taken a back when i watch goblin slayer a few years back and was assaulted by a surprise mili song. back then, in deemo era they felt like a popular band in a niche circle but now they went a bit mainstream. it was so amazing see their success.
Mili is one of the japanese band with a very unique style of music, I really wanted to see reactions to her songs, Birthday kid, Between two worlds, Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery, Sl0t and many others... She is an amazing artist who made songs for several games (Limbus Company, Library of Ruina, Deemo, Ender Lilies...) and animes like Goblin Slayer, Gleipnir and Ghost in the Shell...
thanks for the correction! I thought she was a singer because I got to know her songs through the opening of goblin Slayer, I thought she was like Aimer, a pseudonym for the singer
Yes please, spread the PM brainrot. I also recommend "In Hell We Live, Lament" and "Between Two Worlds" both also made by Mili and "In Hell We Live, Lament" actually featuring the lead singer from MYTH & ROID whomst you have definetly heard from Overlord's op's and ed's.
Mili has an incredibly unique style to her singing that is soft yet powerful. She has a lot of really really good music, including the opening for the Goblin Slayer anime called Rightfully
This guy reacts to all of the songs I listen to, it's crazy Also you should check out more MIli songs for their games Library of Ruina and Limbus Company because they are all absolutely amazing!
I hope you'll end up exploring more of Mili's music, iicr this was basically their first attempt at a more full on Jazz song I think they said and therefore came with some difficulty composing. Their music covers a huge variety in musical styles in general.
fun fact: there is a second version of this song in their album called "Key ingredient" which is basically every other songs they made, few selected from other albums but the instrumental is only piano. one small warning; the vibe overall in key ingredient is different than the original songs.
Thanks for helping me appreciate my favourite group more! Really love the frequent rewinds while saying what things you noticed so we can focus on that as well.
Funfact about this music is that is their 1st time doing jazz music. As for Mili music in the Project Moon(PM for short) universe hit the right spot i would even recomend to listend to even more of the soundtrack of Library of Ruina and Limbus compagny. I hope you will react in the future to Children of the city and Iron Lotus.
Wow this was different The first time I see someone dissect the theme like you, it was a nice change of gear... Also, what do you think of the lyrics? I've seen many shrug off that part for "lack of context on the games" but the singer (and writer) has said many times over that even with this kinds of songs, written for something specific like a game or a series opening or something, they make the lyrics in a way that makes sense inside and outside the context of the product they make the song for
I think for String Theocracy, the lyrics is a bit nonsense out of context. Like there's themes for sure that you could pick up, but nothing really cohesive. I think it's because it's basically a mood song, that shows the vibe of the overall game, but storylines might have not yet been finished by the time the song was done or Mili just wasn't shown them. I noticed it when I wasn't playing Library of Ruina before and I listened to String Theocracy, that the lyrics are basically just another part of the sound really. For songs that could stand more on it's own, I would recommend the other Library of Ruina songs, which makes sense, since those songs are more focused on a certain arc, or person, so the themes and narrative are a lot more concrete. Iron Lotus and Children of the City specifically have very clear narratives even out of context.
@@leonidesbabanto1585 to be fair, if one wants to look between the lines of this theme, Poems of a Machine is kinda necessary... As the two are about as complementary as an OP and an ED can get...
Mili's music is really amazing!!! glad it's getting some recognition, it's super interesting to hear an analysis on it. I would love if you could react to their song "Camelia", it's hauntingly beautiful and played with a lot of different instruments
Thank you Sevrin, whoever you are 😁👍 I love Mili and I'm always hoping to see more reactions to their songs. And I can't get enough of both the song and the lyrics in String Theocracy. Ever since I booted Library of Ruina I've been obsessed with both Project Moon and Mili. And considering how much I'm playing Limbus Company, it will keep being like that for a long time.
The project moon games have such rich and unique OSTs, I'm glad you have covered one of them ! Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy some of the other songs from the franchise !
Ayo I dono’d in a stream a while ago and requested From a Place of Love, a different song from this album. It was hard to choose between that, this, and “Salt, Pepper, Birds, And the Thought Police”. Mili has a ton of great music, hope to see more!
Mili is such a good artist, it’s totally worth checking out a lot of their songs! The instrumentals are so complex, there’s a lot to dissect that can’t be gleaned from one listen, at least to me I really want you to check out Iron Lotus now…
Ahhhh Finally we got some Mili!! My prayers were answered hahaha, thanks Sevrin!! This is a great start though I think there are still many other great ones (Paper Bouquet being my fav :) )
I love listening to Mili to discover more hidden layers or instruments in their music, but I have to say, what really makes me tear up and love them even more is the stories they convey; each song has such depth, such delivery in every quote, every lyric, and knowing the games and context, it's so beautiful to listen again, and especially songs from Limbus Company. Mili is definitely the best at portraying a story inside a song.
saxophone goes crazy in this song. 👌 I also saw you reacted to some Unprocessed a little while ago, so I thought I'd reccomend "The Longing" by them, i think you'd like it if you ever get to it.
When I watch people react to Mili music I see a common tend of focusing on the instrumental parts of the songs. This is great, as that part often escapes my notice and understanding. Yet the implied disregard for the lyrics simply hurts my soul. They are the reason I treat Cassie Wei's voice as the most important part and not as a sometimes tolerable instrument of most other singers. Each song is comprised of many layered metaphors and references to both classical works and other Mili songs, together forming a connected almost universe. When the band creates a song commissioned for another project (anime openings, songs for games) they are often indistinguishable from a "normal" Mili song, and yet when one learns about that other project, a new world opens. Previous barely understood metaphors now have new nuances and parts first thought as just beautiful, gain a deeper meaning. If you will react to other Mili songs I urge you to pay more attention to the lyrics, maybe even scroll through some comments to find things you missed, before giving us your impression.
