      @jhaz89 5 років тому +41

      That's because Kobe had played like 10 years before kawhi and immediately inserted into a take as many shots as you want role....which he does and he has a pretty low percentage. Kobe played for like 20 years -- obviously throughout that time getting tons of opportunities to take last shots, he's going to make a good amount. But people obviously don't remember that enormous amount of last shots he missed. Kobe missed 16 straight game tying or go ahead last shots in a row. SIXTEEN. I didn't even know that was possible

      Terrance McLean ratings are always down when there isn’t a great dominant team or player. Jordan era didn’t have much parity, but ratings were quite high then in the 2000’s ratings were down until Lebron arrived. Generally speaking tho the league is doing better than ever it’s just that some people are not really basketball fans and will only watch when they believe history will be made, basketball fans tho watch whatever happens.
      This year playoffs have been more open then they’ve been in the last 10 years and as a long time NBA fan I think it’s great, fuck the ratings, I enjoyed watching the Pistons and Spurs win way more than I did watching the Heat and Warriors.

      rTS% is the same
      pts per 75 kobe is 3.3 points higher
      PER kobe is 1.1 points higher
      AST% kobe is 1.3% higher
      Also Kobe didn't have shaq or gasol, this were the years when Kobe had trash teammates and was receiving pretty much all double teams. Kawhi had Lowry/Siakam/PG.
      This isn't even a close argument. Kobe was as efficient as Kawhi, but could score at a higher rate and create for teammates at a higher rate, in an era that was had more physical basketball than today.

Just got a outside jumper a few yrs ago, really good post scorer but hasn't had the Playoffs accomplishments, wins, or Rings on Kobe's level. He's Definitely not more skilled than Kobe. Let's talk about a man who from 1996 to 2002 won his three titles and then 2 more in 2009 and 2010 to win 2 Finals MVPS (5 Total Titles within a 10 year span now let that sink in). Then has one regular Season MVP even though he got robbed when they gave it to the great Steve Nash for what he did with the Suns. 17 time All Star, 9 All NBA Defensive selection & Record, 1997 Slam Dunk champ, 81 point game, 12 All Defensive team, 12 threes, 2 Olympic Gold medals, 60 in Finale. Not Lebron who is 3-6 in Finals, not even Kawhi is on this Level. Stop hating and start Appreciating the Goat & MJ. By the way 5-2 in Finals, MJ of course 6-0!! When Shaq left, he still won 2 championships... Kobe was 27 years old and scored 15,000 points. Kawhi has 8,250 points at 27.
      Kobe scored 81 points in a single game. With the current rules nowadays, he'd drop 100. Post-Season he has scored 50. Probably equate to 60+ nowadays.
      Kawhi has the potential, but to compare 1 post season/season body of work to Kobe is just not possible. If I were to also pick 1 Kobe season and Post-Season to this year with Kawhi, I'd pick Kobe.
      Kobe has also plenty of clutch shots in a season/post-season. I'm talking about last 5 minutes, they're losing and Kobe took over the offense. Everybody knew he was going to shoot and he took them.
      Kawhi in no way is a better player than a prime Kobe. Only way that Kawhi is better at is defense. That's what he got an MVP for 😂.. because he stopped LeBron from scoring over 28 points.. right now Kawhi is showing greatness.. just a glimpse.. but to say he's better than Kobe in clutch situations? GTFO here..
      Max, stay in boxing bro you haven't watched that much basketball yet

    Max never sets the standard by defining "pressurized situations"; there's no common ground for them to stand on. It's nebulous.
    And so many people are blowing the argument out of context - instead of strictly discussing abiity to thrive and produce under "pressurized situations", a lot of people are just taking it as "Who's better overall: Kawhi or Kobe?"
    And a lot of people, like Max, are putting too much weight into efficiency. There are more metrics to take into consideration when measuring one's ability to thrive under pressurized situations. There's far more context as well.

      Kobe was a chucker in a good system... With elite talent.. Kawhi sort of had that on the back end of their careers though.. If 27 yr old Kobe existed right now shooting 44% FG or take Kawhi shooting 60% FG and an even better defender... Who would you take...
