I played in a support band at a few UK Subs gigs way back in the late seventies and I have to say that Charlie Harper is one of the nicest, most straight forward and unaffected guys I've come across in the business; he had not a drop of vanity or sense of self-entitlement in him and was always happy to help others in their endeavours if it was within his capacity. I's great that he's still up on stage and doing his thing.
i could have some words with him in a couple of gigs and i am totally with your words: kind, enthusiast, nice, .... today he is so enthusiast in mind as he is a teenager.
Likewise mate ....I was in Demob back in those days and Charlie and the rest of the Subs were bloody awesome to us ...Nicky Garrett even let me use his Marshall stack at one gig as my amp was a really shite little thing and not up to the job in hand :) ...Harper , Garrett , Slack and Davies ...the absolute best line up:)

saw the the uk subs live at "the brickyard" in carlisle july 8th,awesome show,charlie mingled with the crowd and i got a photo with him,great venue,great bar staff,i even got to buy him a bottle of grolsch,fantastic.thanks to the band for a great nite
Subs are World Cup Winners...... Seeing them in Leamington on 19th April, an aging punk reliving my youth again. So many bands doing the circuits, brill..
@blade0954 that was a great gig man i was early and the band were gettin the gear out of the van so i asked if they needed a hand it was fuckin great saw them settin up and doin the sound checks and everythin the guys in the band are absoloutely spot on. brilliant night youve got to love the brickyard.

I thought Tim Yohannon of MaxRnR put all that to bed with his well-intentioned but ill-conceived fanaticism. Such an American habit and I thought you hated us! Tell you what: Anything that gets 'high' society's panties in a twist, we'll call that punk, eh? And it's gotta be under 3:00 minutes. Love you guys! Hugs from the USA!
i wasnt at the gig but i recognised a couple of the blokes who we always used to see at the subs gigs i loved to see them live at small venues because im an eletist fucker!!
@Edhallick I remember that show well. I remember the guitarist found a way to literally hang upside down from the ceiling while they played. I think he was probably the only person ever to attempt that trick from the crumbling rafters of that hellhole. It was a great night.
i went to see the subs and the damed at winter gardens before it got shut down after the subs had finished charlie got in the crown to watched the damed what a ledgend

Wycombe town hall was amazing,the students bar at Guildford university was destroyed, looked like a bomb had hit it,unbelieveable. Crawley leisure centre was marred by skinhead violence. They were great live though. In 1979/80 when i saw them they were amazing....

The problem with punk is that you need to hear it live to see the real thing, lame videos like this one with shitty sound makes a lot of people want not to hear in this case Uk Subs ever again.
