There is no doubt that singers like Tom Jones went right to the soul. I was 18 in 1969 and absolutely loved Tom Jones. As a cowboy actually doing cowboy work, I would listen to him every chance I got. He was (and still is at 80-81). Loved his show and never missed it.
When Tom's wife passed away he wrote n sang on song in her honor titled " I won't crumble" Because his wife asked him to continue singing when she passes..She didn't want him to crumble because she had to leave...

Tom Jones is so believable as he sings. It’s more than likely this didn’t happen to him since he was married to the same women for over 50 years.
