I love Kankri. He's what I think of whenever someone brings up the concept of a "lawful good" character, and the contrasts between him and porrim were really useful when I was in my "liberal is the same as leftist" phase. Kankri understands theory, but not at all how to apply it, which leads to him effectively mansplaining everyone elses problems to them, while Porrim understands how to apply feminist theory in a non-toxic way in order to help her friends through emotional hardships, even though she is less versed in general social justice theory.
Lol as a Marxist myself kankri is an absolute idiot and he is definitely not lawful good and he definitely doesn’t care about social justice. He literally made mituna apologise for existing because mituna wasn’t being disabled correctly according to him . Not only that but he actively puts down people with real problems like porrim on gender while pushing fake highblood problems that don’t exist like the Cronus human-kin thing. Like as a trans person I find that to be as offensive as actually advocating for trans racialism or stupid bullshit like that. Not only that but he doesn’t call for the end of the caste, he solidifies that heirarchy by supporting this bullshit trans-casteism. (Which if it’s trans-casteism that actually makes it class not caste but you know what I mean). Not only that but he basically looks down on everyone around him as an intellectual inferior. Screw kankri, if he does know what he is talking about then there is no other explanation than the idea that he is just intellectually dishonest.
Like he literally talks down on underprivileged people like rust bloods by saying they have “uniquely under privileged privilege”.
Also side note I am very aware that the trans casteism coming from kankri is probably hussie making fun of trans activism and that’s mildly annoying.

Every time I see Kankri, Feferi, Latula, Jade's Grandpa and some others, it makes me thinking about how much one's personal development depends on the curcimstances and their surroundings. For example, Kankri. He and the Sufferer are essentially the same person, right; the Sufferer even had memory about his friends and their session. But the enviroment they both were raised in made them very different. On Beforus, Kankri was a pretty useless sjw who only gets on others' nerves. But being thrown into harsh Alternian life with a lot of bloodshed, cruelty, unjustice and separation between castes, he unlocked his true potential and created the teachings of peace and brothership that would unite thousands of trolls throughout Alteria's history. It was the place and the time that made it possible for him to become a hero.
Same goes to Latula, who wasn't given freedom to create that cheap gamergirl façade, and was instead forced to see cold reality of unjustice, where lowbloods are literal slaves whose lives cost nothing and highbloods have everything on the palm of their hand.
Jake Harley was given the opportunity to grow into a fusion of Tony Stark, Cave Johnson and Indiana Johns; he was a multi-billionaire, inventor, explorer, scientist and hunter, he literally ruled the world with an iron fist and quitted it just because he was bored. He was given freedom to grow, the thing his post-scratch version hadn't; instead, Jake English lost his Grandma when he was a child, lived alone on the island full of dangerous beasts and was stalked by a violent robot who would beat him half to death every time they meet (y'all pity Dave for being physically and mentally abused by Bro, but noone seems to remember that Jake had the same treatment). That made his way towards his true potential enormously longer, and noone wants to cut him some slack.
I don't know where I'm heading with all that, I've lost my thought. Maybe... maybe I want to say that we often judge the Players by how worthwhile they appeared to be during the Game, forgetting that they all are merely teenagers who wasn't given the opportunity and right enviroment to unlock their potential. Who knows what kind of people were, say, Beforan Equius and Eridan, or Tavros, or Nepeta? Were they good or bad, malicious or benevolent, badass or pitiful? We don't know. We only see what we get to see. Kankri *might* had become better with time - we've all seen the Sufferer - if he was given said time and real unjustice around.
