Something I find really useful is having a small fidget keyring on my lanyard or handbag. Even if I don't have anything else with me, this means I always have something small that children of any age can play with, and it's a great way to quickly connect with kids.
School social worker here! 🙋🏾♀️ I would recommend to new social workers to invest/ print a feelings wheel that is visible to your clients. This has allowed me to be able to understand them better and also allowed them to be able to express themselves more confidently. For younger children, I like the visual emojis but I also use the traditional feelings wheel so they can improve their emotional intelligence. Another thing I recommend is a basic to-do list. I suffer from anxiety and this allows me to not be so burnt out during the school term.
Thank you, as always for these amazing social work content !!
