To me, it doesn't seem like Pumpkinkit's mom straight up died because her father wasn't grieving. Apart from that, Pigeonheart's advice "not take things at face value" and "Be careful, not everything is as it seems" plus his grumpy personality make me think that his former mate abandoned the clan or maybe was even exiled, which ties his advice and grumpiness together, maybe he has trust issues? Edit: I just thought that maybe his concern with legacy could also come from the same thing, and how the clan will look as his daughter after her mother left.

I’m guessing Pumpkinkit’s mom passed away at birth or maybe Chestnutbird could be her mom- but is too busy as med cat and realized being a mother and a mate wasn’t for her? That’s why she’s happy she chose the path of medicine cat over being a mother? Not sure.
Aweh, I really like this idea as possible lore for Chestnutbird...it makes me both happy and sad, but what a beautiful story it would be, especially because of what happens in the next episodes!
Pumpkinkit is so cute and interesting. I’ve had fun playing life gen and I love the beans. I also want to see Pumpkinkit with their collar. (Their are adorable friend animals you can have, one of my cats had a magpie)
My thought is that Pumpkinkit's mother didn't want to be involved, and after kitting, moved into the warriors' den. She chose to watch Pumpkinkit grow up, silently watching her. Pumpkinkit may never know her mother. Meanwhile, Pigeonheart didn't want to abandon his kit choosing to raise her alone at first, but developed feelings for Rattlegale.
Pumpkinkit is so cute, also i guess her mother his dead because of how her dad explained it to her at a really young age. Also i think you should put Ratletale as Pumpinkit adoptive dad. (Btw is same sex breeding on?) Sorry for the long comment.
Ooo yes I should do that! And no I do not have that on due to it biologically not being possible (even though this is a game), but same sex cats should still be able to adopt kittens and I will happily set them as adoptive parents!
So out of the lore talk, at the start it seems the relations struggle to set up. That may have happened. It chose one random cat to be a parent instead of two.
Alright, im a bit late, BUT i have a theory/ storyline! PumpkinKits mom could have passed giving birth to them because they arent on the family tree and her father said dont take things for granted or something like that then PumpkinKits dad goes and talk to the medicine cat after WheatKit dies worring anout his legacy most likely worried about PumpkinKit dying too? Or that he can't have any more kids since his mate is gone... or another factor.. Eventually PumkinKit gets two dads and theyre both very caring then PumpkinKits dad goes out with the medicine cat again worried for his legacy maybe because he found out he was gay and wasnt happy with his mate now he cant biologically have kits (well you can if you have setting on)
I think it's the leader cause the leaders are transmitted. That means you'll technically female. I think he was too ashamed to mention that he was expecting kids. So when they will be then happen? Pigeon hot wine out with the leader. So she could get both. But they didn't want to talk about what happened. And they just claim in picking hot just doesn't, and the letter doesn't want to know. Then we'll talk about and the way to doesn't make them. There's no technically his cats so yeah
