Love how you actually "wear" your own hair and the way it thrives. I looked at this video and your latest video (5 months later) your length and health are amazing I chopped 5 1/2 inches to start with a healthy foundation and I absolutely love, love, love Olaplex #3.
Olaplex is definitely the truth! Totally agree, Debbie. And now that you’re starting with a clean, healthy slate, I’m excited to hear how you progress. #Letsgo 💁🏾♀️
I just want to start off by saying, thank you for starting this channel. Your advice has been a blessing. I am truly grateful to have stumbled upon your content. I've been looking for a healthy relaxed hair youtuber since forever. Plus, the health of your hair tells it ALL!. Please continue with your helpful content. For me, the health of my hair is everything. Knowing how to care for my hair and what products to use is PRICELESS❤
I add Olaplex no 1 to my relaxer as per the instructions on the Olaplex website. I have the rest of the collection up to the oil and love it. I just need to be consistent with No 3 at home.
Is this okay to use on hair that is very protein sensitive? I currently use the Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor. If I leave it on for more than 5 minutes, my hair is hard and extremely tangled.
Hi, LaShonda! While you’re waiting on a response from Brandise, I would like to offer my one and a half cents (if that’s OK). Since Olaplex is NOT a protein-based treatment, your “protein sensitive” hair should not have an adverse reaction. It can be used a variety of ways and does not require a moisturizing conditioner afterwards like traditional protein treatments (i.e., Aphogee). It definitely won’t make your hair hard like Aphogee. But screen the ingredients. And if you buy it from Sephora and don’t like, per their policy, you can return it. Again, Brandise is the obvious expert, but hope my little bit helps in the meantime.
LaShonda Haywood Dolce is completely correct. There is no protein at all in Olaplex. Olaplex works by rebuilding the broken internal disulfide bonds in your hair. I’ve used Olaplex on all hair types for the last 5 years with great success. It makes your hair soft and healthy, while strengthening it from within. Both protein and moisture are external treatments for the hair. You can do a No. 3 treatment and follow with a moisture treatment What a beautiful transformation! ❤️
Yeah ms.Dawn I'm looking at your old video and your new video too I just relaxed my hair Friday so that is why I'm looking at your old v too to help me to make sure I will not mess up my hair this time
Thank you for your thoughts and experiences with Olaplex 3. I recently learned about Olaplex 3 via Dominique Baker's UA-cam Channel. Not sure if I will purchase it, as I already use a similar product, but perhaps one day I will try it.
Yeah, I came up on it late after I got sick, but totally see what all the hubbub is about. Great product! And if you end up trying at some point, please let me know... Would love to know what you think.
@@jessu3064 Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Extreme. It's a pre-shampoo treatment. I read on a blog that the two products - Olaplex 3 and Elasticizer Extreme compliment each other, rather than one being used at the exclusion of the other.
@@jessu3064 I have not. Actually, I have not used the Elasticizer Extreme since June 2020, and I have never used Olaplex 3. I did, however, receive the Olaplex salon treatment - Olaplex 1 - from my stylist in November 2020. One is then supposed to use the Olaplex 3 treatment - the at-home treatment - between the salon applications as a maintenance treatment. How often one uses Olaplex 3 is determined by how frequently one uses direct heat, i.e blow drying, flat ironing, and how much, i.e. is one blow drying *and* flat ironing? The packaging suggests 2-3 times per week for users of direct heat. The Olaplex salon treatment, however, made my scalp dry. Also, I have noticed more shedding and breakage in the weeks since the application of the salon treatment, but it both seem to have quieted down. Incidentally, I did read, and from a stylist, that Olaplex brings to the surface issues that are occurring with one's hair, since it repairs the bonds. Could be. I have been using some other hair treatments, and that have given me good results. So, I may not actually purchase the Olaplex 3.
Hi Dolce Dawn - my Olaplex #3 treatment went well. I applied a bit more for my first application to get better coverage from root to ends ☺️. I am sure my hair loved it. But, we both know time will tell 😁. Thank you for your HAIR WISDOM 😂🤣😂‼️👍🏾. Take care of you .. Ingrid
Hey, Bo! I HAVE heard of Olaplex being added to home relaxers. You shouldn’t have a problem, but check their site for details. And I hear you about not changing. I’ve been using mine for years, too. Not gonna change now! 😉
It would really depend on why your hair is shedding in the first place. With me, my hair was falling out, not shedding, because of my health. Shedding can be caused by a variety of factors, including diet, excessive brushing/combing or stress. Even something as simple as wearing a protective style where the hair is not touched for long periods of time can appear to cause a lot of shedding. I would find out why my hair was shedding first and then figure out the remedy.
Hey, gemruby41! Thanks! You know, I tried a traditional roller set YEARS ago and it was an epic fail. I used to do rod sets, though, as a protective style when I got serious about growing it and fared much better. Nowadays, I just blow it out.
Dolce Dawn most people will say that to have healthy relaxed hair, you have to stay away from heat. I don’t believe that, and obviously your hair is in great condition despite using heat on a weekly basis. I feel that with quality tools and products heat is not the enemy. You also have to have a good hair routine and technique.
TOTALLY AGREE! Heat is NOT the enemy! Dare I say that heat and even certain heat tools (e.g. ceramic) can be helpful in growing your hair by sealing the ends/cuticles, thus laying them flat, which traps in moisture and mitigates potential damage from subsequent styling, etc. Yes - the right products, the right tools... everything has to work together!
Question: So u can only purchase/use the #3 Olaplex alone without using any of the other Olaplex #'s (i.e. 1, 2, etc.)? Also, can it be used every wash day (every 2-3 weeks)?
Hey, Slim Bella! Yes and yes. You can purchase and use Olaplex No 3 on its own without having to buy/use the entire system to receive the full benefits of the treatment. And, yes, you can use it before every bi-weekly wash if you choose to. It is really a great alternative to traditional protein treatments as it is not harsh and truly does what it claims... and then some! I’ve heard nothing but good things about the entire system, but I’m sticking to just No 3 for now.
Hi, Saferiza! Since it is treatment and not a conditioner, Olaplex’s recommended use is before shampooing and conditioning or before a chemical treatment to protect hair and mitigate breakage during processing. I have also heard of it being added to a relaxer as well. What are you looking for Olaplex to help you with? Are you experiencing a lot of breakage?
Hmm... Olaplex 3 deals more with breakage and strengthening the hair. Shedding is a whole different thing, so this may not exactly address your issue. Excessive shedding can be caused by a variety of factors, including diet, lack of certain vitamins/minerals, stress and overuse of heat. Even a change in environment/weather can cause it. I would try and narrow down the reason before buying a new product, especially one that’s not specifically designed to address your issue. If you are still interested in Olaplex, I would visit their site and learn more.
