Completely understand your logic for not wanting to play a Scottish team, but I just hate it when English fans talk about the SPFL as if it’s a pub league. Two of the biggest clubs in world football play in the SPFL and the atmosphere at an Old Firm match doesn’t compare to any derby anywhere else in the world. Aberdeen are playing teams relative to their size and budget. Burnley got something like 119 million for finishing 7th, the whole of Scotland got around 30-35 million in prize money. It's not our fault sky chose to invest heavily into your game.

When you were talking about the quality of the Scottish league compared to the premier league I will agree that the last 20 odd years haven’t been comparable but when Aberdeen were successful, Scottish football was like your Bundesliga of today but without Bayern. Aberdeen, Celtic and Rangers were clubs who were doing okay in Europe, mind you not brilliant but they weren’t guaranteed bottom group and Scottish football was winning in Europe (Celtic 67’ Rangers 72’ and obviously Aberdeen 83’). So I wouldn’t use that argument against us as it can be easily dismantled.
