One of my new year's resolutions was to travel alone to a new city! I've been to Tokyo twice before but it was my first time in Kyoto and although I didn't do much, I enjoyed the freedom of doing whatever I wanted to. I DO think this will be my last time traveling alone as I enjoy having company way too much but I'm still glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to try something new :)

I solo travelled for the first time in 2023, went to Netherlands, Germany & France for a week, then went to South Korea for 2 weeks. Best experience ever.
This girl really went with her Sailor Moon tshirt for the trip 😂 love it! The shots was sooo good, I felt the Kyoto vibe, and the fact that you were vloging alone - very well done Ashley!
And a meet with the longtime fan was so wholesome 🥹 She seems to be a great person ❤

i was shocked to see you engage in a conversation with the chef and then i remember omg ashley used to be a kpop idol of course she's great at languages!!! as someone who travels abroad alone a lot but relies solely on my english (and google image translate) i'm so impressed!!!!

Traveling alone is the best. Once you get used to it, you love it because no one controls your fate, where you go, what you do besides you.
I’ve done solo traveling in a few places and tbh I’m an i and I actually enjoyed so much solo traveling… I think it’s more difficult for someone who’s an extrovert as they need to share their experiences. Solo travel is definitely a self reflection and you can gain a lot of insights and empowerment from yourself.
You always deserve a nice meal. Never hesitate to treat yourself if it doesn't put you in a bad spot. You know you deserve the best of the best and new experiences too

That flower you smelled was probably star jasmine. I have it planted in our front yard and it smells wonderful. Also like you, when I traveled alone, I was dying to talk to people too but I did enjoy my alone time to recharge myself.

Watching Ashley’s vlog makes me more excited about travelling by myself in the future. I’ve always been scared of the smallest things like eating by myself in the past, so I’ve really tried to step outside my comfort zone these days.

I've wanted to travel to Japan for like 9 years now, but it's been so long since I took Japanese class that I've forgotten all the useful basics. Plus flying is so expensive.
One of the nice things about solo travel is not having to worry about if your buddies are enjoying the same attractions/food/etc. Scheduling is simple and flexible if you're not meeting up with people. It's nice to just go breathe, take it all in, then talk about it when you get back.

Kyoto was one of my favorite vacation spots I've ever been to. So calming walking up mount inari
man, people are really different. You get lonely after two days, while i have no problems being alone for a week.
though i do agree, traveling alone feels less special without someone to share it with.

After much experience, I've concluded that for me a week is the outer limit for traveling solo. It helps to sign up for guided walking tours or group day trips or cooking classes or whatever so that you get some social interaction.

OMG OMGG I CANNOT NOT RELATE! 😭😭 I also just went on my first ever solo travel last week (and i feel that it may also be my LAST! HAHA)!! Your realization about the food/menu??? IS SO SPOT ON! I wanna eat a lot, and most of the menu are for sharing so i ended up eating mostly in convenience store 😭 I also just made it short, 2d1n, coz i don't think I can handle more days being alone in a diff country!! But you made ut better, your timing of arrival and choice of accommodation is well planned. I arrived at midnight, check in is not until 3pm, and i chose a hostel!! If I ever will do it again? I will surely plan the timings more and my accomm ;( but omg im so glad i saw this vlog. I felt like finally someone understood what i felt and shared what i couldn't speak last wk hahahah Thanks, Ashley!
