Going in March, but I just wanted to say that I've been watching japan content for over 2 years, I for one do not like all the "social media" spots but you give great advice, reality visuals, local recommendations and pricing! I've learned more on your videos (literally a handful) than all the other videos, ever! @piqtourjapan you're gonna do great on here! Bless you guys! Thank you so much! You've made my trip planning so much easier! Hope to see you spread out more to other places in future as well!
Your videos are simply in a class of their own. I've been planning a 21-day trip to Japan with my two daughters for about 2 years now, and we're finally going this August (I've already been to Japan once for a student exchange in 1998). Our itinerary: Tokyo, Matsumoto, Takayama, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Kumamoto, Nagasaki and Osaka. In the meantime, I have watched countless videos about Japan on UA-cam, most of which show the usual tourist stuff. Thanks to you, I have marked many undiscovered places on my Google Maps Japan list and noted down many of your tips. I'm already looking forward to your next videos and wish you continued success. Best regards from Germany Stefan
This is very nice of you to say, thank you so much! I'll try to keep them interesting and helpful. :) Also , I'm glad to know your itinerary as it helps me think about future videos. :) hope you and your daughters have an amazing time!
Ive been watching your videos and saving spots on google maps as favorites. So let me just say, that google map link in your blog where everything is pinned already is AWESOME 🥺😭 thank you
Omg im so glad you dropped this vid! Im doing the shimanami kaido in May and Ive used your other video guides to finalize our “urban kyoto” itinerary before heading to Shikoku. Teramachi and the adjacent shopping streets are on my list. Hope you covered the stationery stores at the end too (kyukyodo, angers and tag). I hope your channel grows really big! So underrated
Thank you for the content! I’m from Canada! Coming by myself in May, definitely visit the shopping streets! Love the traditional craft stores ❤ I’m staying close to Kyoto station, I guess not too far from the streets, will google map 😂 once arrived.
This brings back so much memories. I go to this fancy onigiri place and I also had the best massage in that area too. I went 3x for massages. Went to a very nice unagi restaurant with a viewing area or mini zen window and it snowed while I enjoyed fave my unagi. 🥰🍙🌸💚
Where was this video two months ago when we visited Kyoto?? 😂 Just kidding, great video… love how you explore every corner and watching you walk up and down these streets takes us back!
OMG thank you so much for also thinking Koe Donuts isn't that great! I felt so gaslighted when everyone else was raving about it, and I couldn't figure out why! I love donuts, but it's easy to skip Koe.
Already had some stores on Kawaramachi marked, so definitely added this as well. Actually had one marked over here, but didn't realize how cool it is as a whole.
You have been so helpful with all your videos, thank you so much! I’m going early to mid March and I was wondering if its rainy there? I was watching videos and people seem to be wearing winter jackets
It can be rainy, and sometimes still chilly, so I'd pack layers. Don't bother bringing a rain jacket tho as everyone here uses umbrellas and you can get one either from your hotel or the convenience store for like $4. Hope that helps. :)
What lactose pills do you use in japan? My bf is lactose intolerant and we are going in march and we were trying to find a japanese equivalent to lactaid and so far no luck. We are coming from the us and staying less than 30 days but are a little confused as to if he needs a prescription since lactaid is a prescription over there if I'm understanding what I'm reading right but an OTC here.
27:11 in the movie Oppenheimer Kyoto was spared the nuclear bomb because of all the temples and because someone in the committee went there for their honeymoon.
Hope y'all enjoy this long one!

Good!! I'm a Google maps freak lol I have an absurd amount of pins on there, so I'm always glad to help with that haha
Hey Mrs. Cutie, getting better with every new video!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Keep'em coming!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼❤️
I like watching this channel because you lay it down like an American would. Your hubby is sporting a badass jacket!
Happy to do so! And I'll tell him 😁
thanks for sharing some places of interest, i'll be sure to check them out on my next trip

Thank you, hope you have a super fun trip!
Thank you so much for all your video's. They are so much fun to watch and get great ideas when we visit next.
I'm so glad you find them helpful! 😊
Great tour of that shopping area, Abi. I will certainly visit there on my next trip to Kyoto in the spring!! Have a great Saturday!
Can you do a video about festivals / holidays tourists can look forward to if they’re visiting?
Another great video! Thank you. I'm planning another trip to Kyoto in April. I have learned so much from you ❤ Keep up the good work!
You're welcome! I hope you have a super fun trip!
I appreciate this video as everyone only covers nishiki.
Right? Haha. I've told so many people about this area since it's somehow not talked about much outside Japan.
Thank you for the content! I’m from Canada! Coming by myself in May, definitely visit the shopping streets! Love the traditional craft stores ❤ I’m staying close to Kyoto station, I guess not too far from the streets, will google map 😂 once arrived.
Yeah it's pretty close! A brief taxi or around 15 minutes bus from Kyoto Station ☺️👍🏼 It's worth visiting to just walk around and explore everything!
Followed your Nara itinerary..had some fun with it..tiring but good😊

Oh wow, you got lucky with the snow! That sounds amazing!
Good video as always.😊
Thanks so much! 😊

Hahah that's a relatable post-trip experience tho! Just means you'll have to come back. 😉
Mister Donut was one of my first stops when l got to Japan. We use to have Mister Donut in Canada.
How funny! I love it, I had no idea it used to be in Canada!
@ Mister Donut left Canada in the early 90’s. Mister Donut was on my Japan bucket list.
OMG thank you so much for also thinking Koe Donuts isn't that great! I felt so gaslighted when everyone else was raving about it, and I couldn't figure out why! I love donuts, but it's easy to skip Koe.
This is so funny, thank you for affirming me as well 😂
Already had some stores on Kawaramachi marked, so definitely added this as well. Actually had one marked over here, but didn't realize how cool it is as a whole.
Glad it helped! 😊
Great Video!
We loved the hotdog at Niko & Co. We went for seconds. It was nice to see it again.

Thank you for sharing this information
You're welcome! 😊
so many great videos ,
hope you can rest a little ,
but give us every moment of the season of the cherry blossom 🌸,
e.g. Philosopher's Path
hope you also can do a cafe hopping ,
Kyoto and Osaka has so much to offer
Been watching a lot of your videos and then realized I wasn’t subscribed. 😅
There's something about your videos I really love. I think it's you.
I love your videos and I hope to meet / hire you someday. Thank you
You're awesome and I hope so too! 🙏🏼❤️
❤❤❤❤❤ love your channel. is your friend a rock musician? His hair is longer than yours.
I love ❤your walk tour! Any suggestions on where I can find Shisheido skincare?
Thank you! Don Quixote and bigger drug stores will have stuff. :)
@@piqtourjapanthanks!
I want to come back to Kyoto right away
Great video! Can you also recommend egg sandwiches places from cheap to expensive.
A very niche suggestion haha but I'll definitely consider it!! I love me an egg sandwich 🥪
I remember some of these shops :)
Another great video, thanks Abi! Do any of the Sou Sou or other stores sell cushion covers made from vintage kimono fabric or real indigo fabric?
Hi! Honestly I'm not totally sure, but they seem to sell cushion covers online. They use their own fabric and it says it's dyed in Kyoto.
Great info! I was looking for a knife shop.
If you have another recommendation for one, I would be happy to hear it.
There's another one also on Teramachi called Hirai. It's good too!
I agree about the donuts. They were only okay, but the matcha old fashioned was the better choice. I saw the pizza donut being made.
I'm somehow glad to hear that! 😂 They're very pretty donuts but maybe not the best tasting.
Did you happen to see a custom knife shop? There is a blacksmith inside. I think they were new when I was there in November.
Are these the same shopping centers where Kyoto Tachibana practices their marching skills?
