Thanks Jim for not cutting out the waffle, it contains so much knowledge and information and 75% of the reason I watch the videos. The other 25% is because you are an absolute legend... 👌
Nice to know im not the only one who can put a pair of pliers down for two minutes then go 'Where the fuck did i put those pliers'.i think its called Craft disease,Cant remember a fucking thing.😆
Great videos. What's apparent to me is that there are a lot of shops out there that are willing to take customers' money but don't really have much idea or interest in what they are doing. Had it myself in the past where they assure you it's fixed, charge you £££ but its not actually fixed. Who you can trust to work on your bike is a worry. I love watching your videos. A true expert at work. Good to see someone doing the job right.
Yes I can say for certain its a HUGE problem in the U.S... Its getting worse as times are getting more insane.. the economy and world go off the cliff.
Hi Jim. You're my motorcycle repair teacher, as well as my English teacher. I've learned soooo much. Waiting for the part 3 ! Many thanks for sharing your precious knowledge.
Isn't it frustrating that someone else has looked at the carbs and thought fuck it. Kerr ching. Jim you are the dogs bollocks 😅 rectifying other knobs mistakes 😂
Every ‘mechanic’ is flying by the seat of their pants. There’s very little training available and the vast majority are self taught. Not everyone is at Jim’s level of wisdom and knowledge re carbs, electrics, electronics etc. There are technicians that would make Jim look like a novice, race teams have highly trained and knowledgeable mechanics/technicians for example.
@@munter10 the majority of those self taught untrained mechanics usually have only worked mostly on --Harley Davidson-- Hardly Ridable tractors with a majority of it's tech dating to before 1970's.
Waffle all you want Jim, flipping love your videos. Only found you a week or two ago but I'm hooked ! Been mad on motorcycles all my life. Keep them videos coming. Thank you.
Pretty much binge watched nearly all videos. Good content and tips. imo don't care how artty the videos are. The length of videos, find its a bit of a myth about 20mins. If the content is good they will come. Think Vice Grip Garage shows this. His latest video is 2hrs long came out 9hrs ago and has 247k views as of typing this. Drop you channel on other channels in comments to try to help out. Keep doing what your doing(titles could be better in some respects, like "will it run" "first start in" common titles that gets clicks). Don't panda to wet wipes. Great info. Thanks.
IT is an awesome video..... you said it in a sarcastic tone @ 2mins into this but this showed just how difficult this. In fact as you pointed out that those gaskets are old & the bowls hadn't been opened, I think they couldn't get the carbs off the bike? But only you know that, if it's true? Love your style & your animated comments. Fight On Sir
Sound decision getting those new inlet manifold rubbers. Yes they weren't cheap but watching you having to surgically remove those carbs and that you coulld visibly see damage to the mating surface,, any other decision would be silly. He wants the bike up and running the way it should not the way it arrived with you. Process of elimination. Remove all of the defects and hope to hell it gets rid of the problem.
I have a 97 royal star been sitting and I would like to drop it off to you anytime. Have owned it since 2004 and has been with me through a lot. Hasn’t been running in about three years. The carbs suck on these bikes
Hi, I have a question that you might be able to help with... Is there anywhere one can go to gain knowledge or training on carburettor systems. I love all your video's especially the ones with regards to carburettors and ignition systems. Keep up the good work..
Tour Max stuff seems to be getting a bit hit and miss these days for carbs? The last set of TM float valves I had leaked like fook and looked very much not made in Japan - not sure if they've gone Chinesium in this regard? Waffle on, always learn something from these vids.
Sorry, 10 sec in and having a squirrel moment. Hope you show what's started up outside. Multi 2s, thinking RDLC maybe YPVS but the rev pick up was to slow for anything newer. 😮💨😞 No show of 2s.
How can one slide be installed 180° off when it has this knobby extension on the circumference at the top to allow air flow to the top of the membrane?
Some diaphragms don’t actually have the “knobby extension”, can be fitted erroneously and in this case I would hazard to guess this is what happened… but Jim knows enough about carbs to have noticed this straight away.
It's all working, it's just me that isn't! I'm only getting to my emails once, maybe twice a week at the moment. If you've sent me a message either through my website or directly you'll definitely get a response. Although no instantly 👍
I say "fu** off" to those that are up their own arse moaning about language that real people use in real life, the fact you speak the truth using down to earth language is one of the reasons I subscribed, cour world is far too politically correct and we need to take a stand against it. And I have news for you on losing your pliers, auld ages is a terrible thing and I can tell you it's only going to get worse and you will unlock new levels of grumpiness you never knew existed. Great videos and you are going to pull off an unknown getting me to put my hand into my tight Scottish pocket and pay for patreon..
Hey hey hey, c’mon, language PLEASE!! No need to be offensive like that and alienate good decent people that DO NOT hurl F Bombs every other word! I’m of Scots descent also but that’s no excuse to not help Jim out with a donation for all the glorious content he puts out FOR FREE.
I did comment on the last video, hada similar problem with a Vmax... You need to totally strip the carbs and soak them in acetone for 24hrs bud, trust me the Vmax was stood for a while too, everything will be blocked, gummedip up and acetone will shift it, needs new o rings too by the look of it
Thanks Jim for not cutting out the waffle, it contains so much knowledge and information and 75% of the reason I watch the videos. The other 25% is because you are an absolute legend... 👌
Fully agree on that. There's some little gems hidden in that waffle if you just listen.
"Fkinell Jim stop waffling" should be on a t shirt
Mate I'd buy that 😂😂
Getting printed as we speak… 😅
Nothing better than a Friday lunchtime, a mug of tea and a new video 👌
Enjoy!
You forgot to mention the chocolate hobnobs !
@@taztaz6539 No Hobnobs watching my waistline 🤣

Hi Jim.
You're my motorcycle repair teacher, as well as my English teacher.
I've learned soooo much.
Waiting for the part 3 !
Many thanks for sharing your precious knowledge.
🤣 You are already quite good at swearing then!
français peut-être ?
@@mickleblade Tout à fait.
Bonjour à toi.
hello fellow motorcycle diagnosis enthusiasts😀
I feel like I'm watching a future me working on bikes, you're hilarious and informative at the same time Jim. Love your vids!
Glad to see you have managed to control the swearing Jim!
😂Glad I’m not the only one who spends half hour looking for tool I’ve only just used👍
My learning curve with regards to carbs is skyward but at least I can make sense of it thanks to you Jim
Please keep posting. I've recently discovered your channel and I've watched every single vid (I think) so far. You're awesome and an inspiration.
Another, superb, entertaining and educational video 👍
Well done Jim. You got to #1:54 before the first F Bomb 😂. You're getting better 👌😘
🤣🤣

Thanks James
Brilliant once again 🎉
Thanks for the plier search footage,I can so relate.
Always a pleasure,thanks jim
You have become the goto for the really tricky jobs.
It appears that way… but only because there’s a shortage of knowledgeable bike mechanics at a top level like Jim.
Keep waffling mate 😃👍
You lasted a week Jim refraining from dropping the F Bomb every other word 😂😂👍👍 class, keep it up, F Bombs and all 👍
Glad to hear your being yourself again Jim. And swearing when you want. We are all adults ffs
lol I love the lingo: should be routed UP underneath :) ... classic:)
great job as always lad them carbs were mingin hopefully it will be sorted now next video please
Excellent and entertaining 😂

The Pliers,.... thought I was watching a video of me 😂😂😂
Glad to see the swearing has been fixed Jim 😂😂😂
Why can't all mechanics have your pride in their work bud.
Because most of them are totally out of their depth when attempting diagnosis and repair work on bikes such as this.
You swear more than me Jim in the workshop 😂😂😂 F this F that and who the F was working at this last .
Fkinell Jim don't stop waffling

Jim where is the final part ?
I reuse the original parts, but.at least I clean everything 😮
Think you should load up the camper van with tools and take a trip up to the Highlands of Scotland 🤔😂
You will get more work in, i’m sure, this is pure advertisement for your great work!
Enhance the entertainment value……tap the subtitles box at top of page [CC]………! 👍🧐
Illustrates the there's bike mechanics out there literally making money for knowing nothing and doing nothing...
This was no pro mechanic’s work… obviously an amateur would be if he could be! 😅

Can you tell us where you order Tourmax bits, I find them incredibly hard to find here in Australia. Thanks!
Well that’s some shit work on another mechanic.
Gotta love the Bamboo X1 carbon!
Language. 😂 nah doesn’t bother me just adds to it. I love watching this sort of shit 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The pliers are usually next to ya glasses, mine usually are
btw "how" do u get the slide round the wrong way doesnt the diaphram have a wee tab?
It does, but if you fit the diaphragm on the slide in the wrong place, it causes issues. The slide is round and will fit in any orientation.

I love all your video's especially the ones with regards to carburettors and ignition systems.

Yes, there is the School of Hard Knocks for training anyone that has thick skin and wants to be a mechanic.
Tour Max stuff seems to be getting a bit hit and miss these days for carbs? The last set of TM float valves I had leaked like fook and looked very much not made in Japan - not sure if they've gone Chinesium in this regard?

do you still go out on the road in the van to do repairs jim ? or are you mainly workshop based these days ?
Cutting down on the F's isn't working quite as well as the analysis/resolution regime, eh Jim? 😁😁
All that bollox !!!!
Is your business email or messages working jim? Trying the past few days to get in touch to book my bike in - thanks
