- Okay, so this is my 1st ever video in 4K so hopefully everyone enjoys this one! For this review I'll go for a test drive & completely review the NEW 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe! I'll go over what's NEW for the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe as well as test out acceleration, braking, steering feel, sound system, rear legroom & much more!

I bought a used 2020 Santa Fe in October. It only had 7000 miles on it, so it's just broken in. I absolutely love it!! It's my 3rd Santa Fe, having had a 2005 and a 2013 previously. This was an excellent review and I agree with everything he said. He brought up something that surprised me because I thought I was the only person who had noticed the head liner. It is unique as I've never seen one that was so nice, and I might use the word "elegant" in describing it. He also left one feature off his review that mine has that is a first time accessory that the jury is still out on. That's the "Stop and go" feature. When the center console button is NOT pushed, it defaults to where it automatically comes on. When you stop the car temporarily like at a stop light, the engine cuts off completely. When you are ready to drive again, take your foot off the brake and the engine starts up and you go. I am not sure if I really like that feature. It's supposed to save fuel, but, REALLY? Can it save that much for just a few seconds at the expense of putting more wear and tear on the starter and other components that will wear more with that feature? I am probably going to try to not use that when I drive if I can remember it each time because it does default to that function each time you start the engine.
We looked at the Sante Fe. Ended up getting the Tuscon Night Edition. Both are great vehicles. I think Hyundai is one of the best values around right now..
Too bad they don't have those in hybrid. Half the fuel Great for heavy traffic areas
yeah, we wound up with a (used) Tucson Limited Ultimate and the only thing i don't like about it is that it's not a hybrid. LA traffic is… unkind to our fuel economy. still does better than our '13 Chevy Cruze…
We just traded our 2018 Tucson Limited Ultimate for a 2020 Santa Fe Limited 2.0T. For us, the Tucson was just too underpowered. Plus, we had the unfortunate experience of having the model with the dual clutch transmission. The Tucson always felt like it was riding the clutch. It was an absolute dog from a stop. I agree that Hyundai is one of the best values around. The Santa Fe is the 8th Hyundai we've owned since 2001. All but two of them are still on the road. One of them is now a co-worker's daily driver and it has 330,000 miles on it. I never had to do any non-routine maintenance on any of them.

I have a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe with over 250,000 miles on it. Still running good. Have had some problems with it but I was able to fix all of them myself. I have been very happy with it. I am planing on getting a new 2020 Santa Fe very soon.

Picked up my 2020 Ultimate 2.0T one week ago....I went from a full size SUV to this because I no longer needed a beast. I LOVE THIS CAR!!! Comfortable, sporty, and a technological marvel. Great sound in the HK Infinity system. Seats are overly comfortable, and I am no small guy. Drive modes are great, I usually leave it in smart mode. 25.3 average MPG with the turbo, twice what my old SUV got. Not slamming full size units, they have their purpose. Warranty fantastic, and I purchased extended along with service as well. Still got out under MSRP. FWD car, not needing AWD, so saved $1700. If you are thinking about this vehicle, I can say that I tested out a Mazda CX-5 SG, a Honda Passport and CR-V, and a KIA Sportage. I was pleasantly surprised to find out KIA is made by Hyundai...was obvious as a lot of the Sportage was real close to the Santa Fe. Settled on the Santa Fe after looking at warranty and features. All others were good vehicles, but the Santa Fe really had me after a ride.
I can say this in reply to your comparison between the Kia and the Hyundai Santa Fe. First of all, the Sportage is not the one to compare to the Santa Fe, that would be the Tucson's place. The Santa Fe is comparable to the Kia Sorento. I bought a 2019 Sorento after having bought 2 previous Santa Fe's. I looked at my local dealer and they had changed the models up where I couldn't get the main feature that I needed and that was the Navigation system. They had the Sorento in my price range so I got that one. I had it for 3 years and it was okay. ONLY okay. I had a couple of problems with it that caused me to have to do with the local Kia dealer and they were terrible. They kept my Kia for 22 days over a relatively simple fix. They had to replace a faulty computer component. They had to, after they had my car for a week, with no word on it, to having diagnosed the problem, they had to get the factory to authorize the repair, to ordering the part, to get it shipped, to get it fixed. Here is the "kicker". When they got the part in, it took the dealer only 1 hour to install it!! They had my car for over 3 weeks and they told me they didn't have a loaner ...... at first. After having it for 2 weeks I raised H3LL with them about not having transportation. They then loaned me a tiny, little Kia to drive. I will not recommend this dealer. This car only have 12,000 miles on it, well under the warranty and I had another problem about 6 months later and I decided it was time to trade. Be glad you chose the Santa Fe, it is so much better and nicer than what I drove. I now have a 2020 Santa Fe and LOVING IT. I also have the 2.0T and, if you drive on freeways as I do, it is much needed!
Thanks for the video. We talked to a salesman yesterday about the Limited and you told us some extra features that he didn't tell us. We're sold and we'll be getting more bang for our buck! Other Suv's with all these features usually run around $50,000 or more. The warranty is better than others also.
Love my 2020 2.2L CRDI Diesel Santa Fe AWD. Tons of torque for driving in the mountains here in Costa Rica.
Ive had two Hyundai's...A Santa Fe and a Tuscon....and Im going back for a 2020 Santa Fe....cant beat the value for the money.
What year was your Santa Fe did you have any problems with it?
@@Jonathan-tb6fm 2014 and. no, there was absolutely nothing wrong when I traded it in. I simply wanted more options such as cross traffic alert, lane departure and blind spot prevention.
The blind spot camera with the display in instrument cluster is very cool and definitely needed over the 2019. That B pillar is wide.

My wife just purchased a 2020 Santa Fe Premium with Technology package. I drive a 2016 Lexus es350 and had been telling her to go with the Lexus Rx. She went and purchased the Santa Fe without me which I cant blame her because of my biased opinion. In all honesty the Santa Fe blows me away In every aspect. The interior is amazing, the 4 cylinder turbo engine is just enough. Headlights and the list goes on have blown me away

The Santa Fe is an appealing vehicle. But for me (and my family) the closely related KIA Sorento has a number of advantages. The vehicles are the same size with virtually identical interior measurements for passengers in the first and second rows and overall cargo space. Almost identical wheelbase and overall length. The same transmissions and the same AWD systems. Same infotainment systems. At the highest trim levels the Sorento is somewhat more premium but the Santa Fe counters with some features not available in the 2019 Sorento (e.g. digital cockpit display, warning system for kids/pets left in the back seat, and blind spot camera projected on the cockpit screen when .) Whether those features will be added to the 2020 Sorento will be apparent soon when the 2020 Sorento is available.
Where the two vehicles principally differ is in the fact that the Sorento has a surprisingly accommodating third row of seats for occasional use and an optional naturally aspirated V6. This difference isn't surprising considering that the Santa Fe is targeted as a large compact SUV with competition such as the RAV4 and CR-V while the Sorento is marketed as a "tweener," a smaller midsize three row crossover. Its primary competition are two row vehicles with standard or optional V6 engines such as the Ford Edge, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Murano, and Honda Passport.
As I said, we opted for the Sorento for a number of reasons. The NA V6 is a better choice, imo, in such a vehicle as large and heavy as the Sorento and though we seldom use the third row of seats, they're extremely convenient from time to time. Others, of course, may decide otherwise. And either vehicle would be a good choice.
Yesterday we bought a santa fe for my wife. I was trying hard to convince her to choose sorento, but she liked santa fe more. Well, she's happy anyway. But your points are all correct.
I have a 2017 Santa Fe Sport. I'm in PA. My daughter in FL has a Santa Fe also. We love these cars. Actually mine is the second Santa Fe I've owned. And I had never bought two cars of the same models. Everyone likes my car, they think it's newer than 2017. I get comments on the color, canyon copper.
27 miles on the freeway, same like my 2019 pilot V6. Nice SUV
We have a 2020 Santa Fe and I absolutely love it. My only frustration is the Remote Start is not on the fob but on a cell phone app which can be quite inconvenient.

@@cybertroy2 I would say a tad better than my 2014. I get about 24 mpg. Was getting about 22. Almost had it a week now and every day I'm learning something new. A lot more bells and whistles on this one.

Keep in mind while driving during sunny weather the top of the Santa Fe dashboard is noticeably reflected onto the windsheild.

My turbo on my old Sonata went out 3 times in 2 months. I’m done with turbos.

I test drove both engines, you will notice the difference with the 2.0T...it's really fun to drive.

Test drive before you buy, preferably on a road with hills. It’s 2.4 is woefully weak and you will feel every incline. The idle stop go is a bit buggy and can force you to restart the vehicle after a stop so make sure to ask how they will deal with it if your car does that.
dont forget the black chrome I got with my Limited. The thigh extension doesnt come out far enough, works better for smaller people (shorter legs).
We have the 2019 Ultimate 2.0T. It is a great vehicle.

I just purchased a Hyundai Palisade two weeks ago. I went there for a Hyundai Santa Fe but in 2018 they stop making the third row seatsI must admit I was very unhappy however I am happy with my Hyundai Palisade Hyundai SUVs Rock I will never buy another american-made vehicle again I haven't since 1996

Did they fix the turbo lag issue in 2020 model? I test drove a couple of them last year and I felt that the turbo lag was quite noticeable. It’s not a deal breaker, but fixing will make this vehicle near perfect. I still have complaints about the gas mileage of its turbos.
VN P The best way to get rid of Turbo-lag is to choose a car with twin turbos, one is always running.
How do you have your camera and /or microphone mounted? you're getting a lot of vibration thought the mount into the camera besides that great review.

My one year review..2019 SF-SEL 2.4. "luv it." The 2.4 is perfect for me and can achieve 34 mpg on hwy. I paid $26k for the base SEL new and consider it a bargain compared to smaller economy cars that cost more. You say 2020 has 185 hp my 2019 is rated at 175 hp ?

@@bextar6365 cool man! I bought mine at a Hyundai dealership in MI with the convienance package. They said it was the employee discount bc that location is low in sales. Not sure if that's true or not, but I thought it was a good deal. Lets hope they last a long time!

If the new Limited has the camera-based Blind Spot Monitor does it still have the audible and light warnings too? The reason I like the audible warning and the light notification near the A-pillar is it let's you know there's a car in your blind spot while keeping your eyes on the road.
The warning indicator is on the far end of the mirror. Bad position, should be much closer so the driver doesn't need to turn the head to see it.
Follow-up: I bought the 2020 Limited trim Santa Fe, and it does do both and more. It shows the blindspot camera in the dash, it has a light on the mirror, it has an audible alarm when another vehicle is in the blindspot, and it shows a blindspot notification in the heads-up display.

I have a 2013 Santa Fe Limited i'am looking to trade Did they change the rear end coupler to something different cause I've went thru 3 of them all under warranty and I think it's about to go again at 93000 miles
There is one glaring dislike for the Limited. In fact, it's a hate. At night, the headlights cast a triangular shadow onto the ground. This is not normal. The shadows are a psychological distraction for which Hyundai really screwed up. I filed a claim with their consumer affairs department and the dealership maintenance department is well aware of the problem.

I have a 2019 santa fe. the dealer says to change the transmission fluid at 30,00 miles, but my owners manual says no check, no service required....what do you think? anyone gimme the scoop on this??
Change the transmission fluid at 30k. There are no eternal car fluids and never will

Just follow the vehicles manufacturers owners manual, they designed and built it and know how owners need to take care of it! Can't go wrong with this strategy.
Mpg could be better. Crv gets about 5 better doesn’t it? I guess that’s the cvt. Might be worth it.
Jeff Forbess I’ve had my 2020 2.0 Limited AWD for about a month now, and am getting 27+ hwy. Combined city and hwy is in the 22-23mpg range. MPG was a concern for me as well, but I’m pleasantly surprised!
i thought the hands-free liftgate sounded like a really nice feature, but then i told my husband about it and he said, "But what if you're just standing back there and don't want it to open?" does anyone know if is this something you can disable in the infotainment system? i honestly can't see it being a huge deal, but it's bugging me. well, i'll ask at the dealer when i go in for a test drive.
You can turn off this thing, and also control the speed of it
You can and I did for the exact same reason.
You can disable on the key fob and a button inside at the dash.

Sucks for the ones of us who bought the 2019 Ultimate 2.0T. They add the blind spot camera for 2020 and seem to drop the ultimate trim. Thanks Hyundai, Lol!
Nah, BVM is just a novelty. Better not rely on it too much, then get into accident driving a car without it. Also the BSM indicator is amber and located at the far side of the mirror. For me to see the indicator I would have already seen the car in the mirror, so that makes the indicator useless. However, the BSM audible warning is useful.
Canada still has the same trim line as 2019, Ultimate sounds awesome.

actually it doesnt suck that much, since I purchased the 2019 ultimate 2.0 T last week. Got a better "end of the year" deal, aint gonna miss that BVM at all. Actually the name "ultimate" sounds better than 'limited". Love the 2019!!

I am shopping for a replacement for our 2011 Acura MDX. Drove the 2020 RAV 4 and the Highlander yesterday. Really impressed with the Highlander Limited, V6 engine (non-turbo) plush interior, great reliability. Looked at the Lexus line also, but could not get past the ugly front end, they call it a `cow catcher’ LOL. Shopped Kia and Hyundai, good cars, definitely value leaders.

I have been in the shop almost every week for a couple of months for fuel tank problems. It is very annoying to have the engine light comes on the day after the problem has been fixed by the Hyundai dealer. I will never recommend this SUV to anyone. My Santa Fe has only 3800 miles today.
Would you recommend the 2020 Sante Fe over the 19 Nissan Murano?
I know I would just because Nissan has cvt transmissions which suck and have high failure rates.

You don't measure torque at 4000 rpm...many of the car companies are measuring torque at higher levels. 4000rpm is up in horsepower measuring range. Torque should be measured around 2000

I still have a 2008 and had a 2003. My 2008 can beat the later years with 4-cyl engines. My 2008 is 11 years old and is still my favorite vehicle that we drive. My wife and I loved them both and wanted to get a new one but there is no way I can accept buying a 4-cyl SUV. That’s foolish. Once you put anything in it, people in it or try to tow something light with it it will be a severe disappointment. Both of my Hyundai’s had the smaller 6-cyl engines but handle and accelerate very nicely. There is no way 185 or 235 hp can beat out a 6-cyl even with the turbo. That 4-cyl sounds so toy-like. Such a disappointment that there are no 6-cyl , hybrid or Ultimate versions. We wanted to consider one but... nah.
I am 6' 3". When I get the seat where it feels comfortable (raised), it seems like I am staring right at the visor. I also feel like front visibility is somewhat hampered by the read view mirror and front facing safety cameras/equipment. Perhaps the issue relates to the angle of the windshield? Anyone else experience this? BTW, it seems like the Subaru Forester does not have that issue. But it is no where near the same vehicle as the Santa Fe. Replies appreciated.

Agree, not comfortable at all at highway speeds on somewhat rough surfaces, surprisingly it is not mentioned anywhere , and crooks from consumer reports recommend them , though rating noise as 3 out of 5. Kia and Hyundai produce worst cars ever and instead of fixing , they spend money on fooling people. When I complained to them they sent me a gift card for 25$ saying no one complained about it. Now every time I go to service , I pull people form show room .

Here's a Fact the Hyundai Santa Fe/Kia Sorento has a MUCH better AWD system than Palisade/Telluride. The Hyundai Santa Fe/Kia Sorento AWD system uses the very capable Dynamax while Greedy Hyundai slapped on a Fake Brake Cheap AWD system on the Palisade/Telluride. I had both the Hyundai Santa Fe/Kia Sorrento and loved their Dynamax AWD system both are a BIG Bang for your SUV Buck, the only thing I didn't like are their small tires, the Fake Brake Cheap AWD system on the Palisade/Telluride is a DEAL BREAKER to me.

@@brittoncoil2518 Thanks for the correction. The Sorrento was my first Hyundai vehicle, I was able to factory order a fully loaded one thru the dealer without the huge sunroof which other buyers had many shattering issues with.

I hate those huge sunroofs that decrease the roof rigidity thanks to my dealer I was able to special order my fully loaded Sorrento without the sunroof. I dodged a glass breaking bullet because shattering Sorrento/Santa Fe was an issue. Hyundai did reinforce the area around the sunroof in Palisade/Telluride and I was going to make my next ride a Telluride until I found out that didn't use Dynamax AWD but instead took the low tech Fake Brake road to market AWD which made it a Deal Breaker.
The new Santa Fe uses the HTrac system which has been used in the Genesis brand for a few years. So it can't be that bad/cheap.
Display is small & awful. Didnt expected such s#it from Hyundai.
I will take a 2019 Chevy Blazer RS any day over a Hyundai. Looks a lot better , handles great, v6 303 hp, and all wheel drive . Towing 4,500 lbs. Took a Santa Fe for a drive and it just didn't have any power.
WTF! This is not a vehicle for racers boys. We know it accelerates fast enough. We don't care about the sound when you gun the engine. Its a non turbo 4 banger! When will they wake up and realize we know we aren't buying a Corvette and are far more concerned about other things more practical when considering a vehicle such as this. I so wish we could get more objective reviews rather than this crap. Maybe someone a little more mature might have a better perspective.
I have this SUV and 2 kids. Did you actually watch the entire video where I cover safety, cargo space, legroom, etc. Or were you rather inpatient & judgemental or perhaps just having a bad day may possibly explain your rudeness.
