When you talk about all the elite talent at Ohio State you need to remember, last year Alabama had 18 five-star players and lost to a team with just two.
Exactly. That team with 18 five-stars beat possibly the best team in the country (UGA) and were one play away from beating UM. Elite talent usually get you right there at least.

You’re acting like they aren’t “right there”. Yes, Michigan has won it the last 3 years, but OSU was in position to win it every year until the last game, and favored in 2 of them. It’s not outrageous to pick them to win, just Michigan has come out on top.

Mark, Rutgers is doing fantastic (by their standards) on the recruiting trail right now. Do you think Schiano is "turning the corner", so to speak, and has Rutgers set up for (relative) success in this new Big Ten? Sure, there are more quality programs in the Big Ten with the Pac editions; but Rutgers is also now out of the suffocating Big Ten East. They just seem like a program that is set up to win 6-8 games a year (maybe even 9 every so often) and pull off some upsets against the Top Tier of the Big Ten.
Just curious if this is something you think is feasible or if it is a pipe dream.

Imagine Michigan and Ohio's recruiting levels flipped. UM lands 4 and 5 stars across the board every year while OSU hits on mostly high 3s low 4s and an occasional 5 every few years. Think the w/l record would be different over the last 5-10 years?
Really excited about Jonathan Smith as the HC of MSU, but expectations tempered this year for the reasons you mentioned. Just seeing competence from the coaches is going to be nice though. Bringing in Rossi as DC and getting Coach Meat from Oregon for the DBs will go a long way in fixing multiple years of maybe the worst seconday in the country. It's nice to have some optimism again! Looking forward to seeing the new look B1G

I don't know why anyone would rate Oregon 2nd ahead of Michigan. Oregon got beat by Washington twice last year and Michigan destroyed Washington in the Natty. Michigan's defense will likely be just as good this year and possibly even better than last year.
What did Michigan add to make them better this year than last year that will make up for losing almost the entire coaching staff, 1st round QB, and all the other Talent that went to the NFL?

@@zoam7881 We didn't need to add - we have two of the best defensive tackles in the entire country (Graham and Grant), an All-American DB, and an All-American tight end. Defense is stout, polished and gnarly. Good luck SC and Oregon. Duck fanbase reminds me of the Buck fans - lonely and delusional. So far, lil O is still 0-1 this year (Mizzou thrashing), still working on more excuses about the Game (OSU now in the midst of a 2-game losing streak).
